Hello! Welcome to my little coffee hour. Looking at the cup you may notice I’m currently on Cape Cod. No, the cup on the right’s not Batman, it’s a drawing by Edward Gorey who lived a few miles down the road.
This is a very special coffee event. A lot is going on in my corner of the blogosphere. Today is my one year blogaversary. Yes, on November 1, 2013 I put up my first post. It was a tongue in cheek piece about all of the great ideas I had come up with only to see someone else make them reality.
I think I’ve come a long way from that first post. My blog is still pretty random, but I think I’ve carved out a place to express my creative side in several different mediums. I thought I might post a short story on a rare occasion yet I’ve now posted around 50 of them. I knew I’d occasionally put up a photo or two. I’ve posted hundreds of photos. I’ve also posted dozens of pencil drawings and computer/pencil hybrid pictures. I’ve also put up a lot of music, but only one newly written piece, the rest being older.
One of my biggest surprises with blogging is how social it is. I’ve made quite a few virtual friends from every corner of the globe.
Most of my top posts received most of their traffic from the search engines. The others were posts that friends shared on Facebook.
Besides my blogaversary, yesterday was my birthday. Interestingly, the number of views on my blog has dropped drastically in the last week and I was wondering if October would end up being one of the worse months in a while. Margaret-Rose (M-R) Stringer fixed that by sending people over to wish me a happy birthday.
My numbers also spiked today, but I’ll save the reason for another post.
If you didn’t notice, I wrapped up my Frank series yesterday. I loved writing the stories but thought it was time for Frank to become a real boy and live life on his own, not on my blog.
As I said in another post, I’m planning on spending much of November doing a rewrite of my book, The Fireborn.
This was a pretty good week. As I said, I’m down on Cape Cod but the weather is lousy. I’m still enjoying myself.
Well, thanks for stopping by for a cup of coffee!
Note – I’ve seen the “Having Coffee” posts several times, I think starting with Part Time Monster, which now is often hosted at Just Gene’O. I also see it every week at Nerd in the Brain and often on Thoughts by Mello-Elo. It’s a feature where the “host” gives an informal talk about their week. This is the third time I’ve tried it out. I may do so again in the future.
