No Words

blackHer face splashed across the news
No words
She sent her child off safe
To school in Peshawar, Pakistan
   To camp in Utøya, Norway
     To school in Sandyhook, Connecticut
       To school in Columbine, Colorado
Does it matter where?
Over in a minute
An uncaring burst of bullets
The hunters of innocence
Stalked their prey
No words

Why are we so surprised
When we’ve created a culture
Where violence is praised over all?
     Why are we so surprised?
When will this madness end?
When will schools
  Stop sending
   Kids home
    In coffins?
     When will it end?
No words
Just no words

Beyond words beautiful! Brings a tear to the eye. Well written!
If you would, I’d like you to read a couple of similar ones of mine – A FATHER’S FEARS,
    Thanks and God bless!

You are right: no words. We have the need to get it out of our heads and out of our hearts, but there is nothing that can be said that express our horror at what happened.
