Time

The Insistance of Prime

While searching for a topic for today’s post I realized that I haven’t complained about my lack of time in quite some time. Yes, I have had posts stating that I was taking a blog slowdown because of lack of time, but no posts were I have actually sat down and whined complained talked about my lack of time. It’s funny, these types of posts used to be a fixture here at Trent’s World and came up with clockwork precision. Oh well, I guess I just haven’t had the time to post one.

It isn’t that I’ve finally found myself rich with time. No, no, I haven’t found that elusive door to step sideways from the stream of time and make it stand still while I did the things I need to do. I still have that same lack of time as I’ve always had. I think it’s because I’ve been too busy to complain. It’s just awful when you’re too busy “doing” to complain that you don’t have enough time to do anything, isn’t it?

I have wasted a lot of time recently, which is one of life’s greatest sins. In my opinion, time spend lying in a back alley in a drug induced haze is a much better use of one’s time than watching a reality TV show, which is why I do neither. I don’t remember the last time I turned on a TV. Yes, the TV works – my wife puts it on CNN and lets the news spill out into the house, but I usually ignore and go someplace where I can’t hear it. I can get more news in greater depth in a shorter amount of time going to a few of my favorite news sites than watching TV where it seems I often hear, “We know absolutely nothing yet about this but we’ll stay live 24 by 7 just in case something pops up. Next we have an expert on these matters who will tell you he knows absolutely zero about the present situation but will spend the next 20 minutes telling you just that.” I think I’d chew my own leg off to escape watching the 24 by 7 coverage of most unfolding events. I don’t have the time.  Coincidentally, I don’t remember the last time I was lying in a back alley in a drug induced haze, hopefully because it never happened, but then again, if it did would I remember?  No, no, time’s too short to waste it on stupid things like drugs.

I’m sure some of you are snickering, saying, “But Trent, if you have so little time, why are you wasting these precious escaping moments writing this drivel that you call a blog post? Isn’t every second you write stealing another breath, putting you that much closer to death?” My response, of course, is, “Isn’t that a bit morbid? I said I don’t have time to do everything I want, not that I’m paranoid about my life’s clock ticking down to zero.  There’s not enough time to think about how little time there is remaining.  I have better ways to use my time.”

And on that happy note, I’ll leave you. Really, I can’t write any more, I just don’t have the time….
