If We Were Having Coffee – 11-29-2015

Moog and Morning Coffee

Hello and welcome!  Come on in and I’ll get you some tea or coffee or something else to drink.  It is afternoon so you may think it is too late for coffee, but hey, it is virtual coffee so I guess it is never too late.  It is beautiful and sunny, but a bit on the chilly side today.

By looking at the mug those of you who have read previous coffee posts may realize that we are in New Hampshire.  Those who have read my coffee posts may also be scratching their heads because I usually post my coffee post first thing Saturday morning. Well, I’ve only been in New Hampshire for about an hour.  I had been down the Philadelphia since Tuesday.  So, yes, a late coffee in NH.

It was a good week in Philly.  I stayed with my brother and his family.  We did a lot of things in the area and were out and about quite a bit.  The weather was great.  We did outside stuff, like walks, but also did some inside things like museums.  Hint: if you are every in Philly you should go to the Barnes…  Besides being out and about we also had family time in and around his house.

Obviously it was a very slow blog week.  I put up some photos of Paris on Monday.  It is such a beautiful city that pretty much you can close your eyes, aim your camera randomly and you’ll have a beautiful picture.  I put up a review of a YA novel on Tuesday.   And then on Wednesday I put up a my answering machine message: I’m sorry, I can’t come to the computer right now, but if you start talking at the sound of the tone I will be sure and return your call as soon as possible.

So yeah, that was about it.  It was a busy week away.  I did not touch a computer.  Well, it depends on your idea of “touch” and your idea of “computer”.   I went on line with my Kindle to answer emails and such and did have my phone with me (a very portable computer) but I did not use a stand alone computer or laptop.

And how about you?  How has your week been?  I hope it was good!  If you do a coffee post I’ll try to catch up most likely on tonight or Monday, though no promises as I’m way behind.  If you don’t do a coffee post, perhaps you should consider it ;)

Hi Dale! I understand – I like to read all of the coffee posts but it does take time. It was a nice to get away and limit my screen time. Next time I’ll have to try to turn off my phone on arrival.

Glad to hear you had a good Thanksgiving and managed to get away. I’ve never been to The States so all these comings and goings are semantic. Have you have any snow yet? It’s pretty hot here and we’ve got the air-con running and I just feel very lethargic. Can’t be bothered doing anything and it’s dinner time. Remember Samantha from Bewitched? Wish I could just click my fingers right now. Instant dinner. I’m making falafel from a box, which might be just as good.
We had such a huge week last week. Our daughter performed in School Spectacular at the Sydney Entertainment Centre. She was all but a speck in a huge mass choir with 1500 kids..the white shirts.
Then we were off to a family wedding and on Sunday we were off to a Christmas Party with the Muscular Dystrophy Association, which supports my auto-immune disease.
Thanks for the coffee and chat.
    xx Rowena

Hi Rowena! Things on the east Coast are actually pretty close together so Philadelphia is only an hour flight from Manchester New Hampshire. South of us, which here means a little warmer. It was cold last night but no snow yet. I am not looking forward to winter. Yes, it would be nice to click your fingers or twinkle your nose (or whatever you call it) and have everything done.
I did read about your week last week. The School Spectacular looked like a huge event. I’m sure it was great for your daughter. For some reason I don’t remember reading about the Muscular Dystrophy Association party. I remember about the wedding, but my mind is a blank – I’ll have to go back and look again. I hope it was a good party
Thanks for stopping by and chatting! Have a great week!

I did miss your coffee post Saturday evening (your Saturday morning) but remembered you said you’d be away for the weekend.

I hope you are having fabulous time in New Hampshire! Sometimes it’s good to take time away from technology. :)

It’s nice to get back into the routine, though it is finally beginning to feel like late November/early December – it was 21F this morning. I did cheat a bit on my technology free days – I still used my phone and Kindle for e-mail and such. Coming up I need to do a totally device free day.

It sounds like you had a very different Thanksgiving – long day! But I did love your list of things you are Thankful for. I hope you have a great week!

Well, I find its nice some day to just not turn on my computer.
It was different, for sure–but I didn’t feel like I was missing out on much back home. I was experiencing so much here!
Have a great week too, Trent!

Thanks Y. Most of the time I was out at my brother’s house so, yes, good home made food ;) Yesterday we went into the city and just had a quick lunch at the Reading Terminal Market. In the evening, though, we went to the Cuba Libre Restaurant. It was very good.

It was nice to get away. I don’t do it nearly enough. I do have to admit though that I did cheat – I used my Kindle Fire for some stuff, like news, weather and my e-mail. Someday I want a break from even that for a long weekend. no smart phone, no Kindle, no computer.
