I’ll admit that little makes me smile as much as my furry family members. A few weeks ago I posted a video of my Boxer Fiyero chasing a ball down a hill in the woods. It’s one of his favorite games. He also likes to catch the ball. Sometimes he will combine the two activities. He will sit at the top of a hill. I throw the ball. He catches it and then drops it so it rolls to me feet. We repeat. I call it “Lazy Dog Fetch”. It’s hard to see the actual catch in this 8 second video – if you repeat it you may, uhm, catch it.
(Click here is you don’t see the video)
Here is the chasing through the woods video – it’s 38 seconds and set to music, something i now call “Gravity’s Playmate”.

Yes, it is my dog, but something about watching him play brings a smile to my face. How about you? Do like to see the enthusiasm dogs can bring to their play?
What a fetching fellow! Loved the videos. I am smiling😀

Just looking at that photo of him makes me smile. You’re lucky to have such a character around :-)

Fiyero is gorgeous and I really enjoyed the videos, especially hearing the sound of rustling through the Autumn leaves, which is quite a novelty for me. Not a lot of deciduous trees where we live.
I walk my dogs down at the beach and there’s often a community ball which gets thrown to a real motley crew of mutts, with different concepts of catching/retrieving it. Bilbo, our Border Collie, was the undisputed champion until 2 year old Foxy x Maltese called Zac moved in and his legs spin he runs so fast. When other dogs bring the ball back, he’ll often snatch it and run off before you have a chance to reach down to retrieve it.
Yes, dogs definitely cheer me up and bring a smile to my face!

Fiyero is very handsome. yes, the fall leaves, something we have a lot of in New Hampshire! I never finished raking this year – I hope I still have some free time before the snow hits…
One thing that is funny is we have another dog, Idina. She doesn’t quite get the concept of the ball, which infuriates Fiyero. I often have to take Fiyero out by himself to play ball without Idina. He loves the special daddy-ball times!
It’s great you live close enough to a beach that allows dogs. The beaches near our cottage on Cape Cod allow dogs off season, but they are supposed to be leashed.

He’s playing catch like a human boy, throwing the ball back and forth.

I loved watching my dog play. We had this thing where I would throw the ball, she’d bring it back, and when I held out my hand she’d take off wanting me to chase her. It was great because we both got our exercise in. When I’d fall on the ground and lay all splayed out she’d come running over, drop the ball and lay all splayed out too. It was great. And it’s like every play experience with them is new, even if it’s the same thing. I wish my building allowed pets.

Chase is a favorite. Our last dog, Elliot, would never return a toy, he’d just want to be chased. The ending of your game, laying all splayed out, is so funny. I can just picture it. Playing with dogs is s much fun. Maybe someday you’ll live where you can have on again.

I’m not a “dog person” and would not choose to have one if it were up to me. However, I do enjoy seeing them and watching them play. If I didn’t have to walk it, I might want a small dog. Not sure. But until they invent some way to walk the dog without me having to do it, I don’t think so!
Another nice smile producing post, Trent!

Dogs are a lot of work. Most of the time people have problems with dogs it’s because they don’t have the time that’s need to really take care of them – they need a lot of time. But to me it’s worth it :)

Dogs make us smile and that is OK. Cute videos Trent. Fiyero is a beautiful boxer.Daisy thinks one of the $5.00 stuffed animals at the Pets Mart check out is her baby. If you think she is not watching you while she is sleeping trying quietly taking it and she will growl out of protection for her baby lol. I need to do a video of it because it is quite funny. You can say go get your baby and she brings it back she’s only had it two weeks.

That is funny. I know they can get attached to certain toys. We have 4 balls like that ones in the video and he loves them all. I think we picked them up for 99 cents at Halloween last year. I’d like to see a video of Daisy protecting her baby.

Shes not real happy with us right now she just got an outside bath. Well waters very cold lol. She has about 6 of those Chuckit balls she loves them. One glows in the dark. A few of them whistle when you throw them. As long as your playing catch she does not care which one of those it is but she likes those the best. I started something with her on Mondays I got to Walmart and they have these bones in the dog section called “Butcher Bones” they are smoked ham bones there HUGE. Well she knows when I get back that it is “Bone Monday” and she gets a new bone she starts crying waiting for me to get it out of the bag. They are like 2.99 each I think. She will chew on the thing for a few hours and she will have the middle section left those will last forever lol.

Our dogs hate baths too. Since we have two now (the other is a rescue and not a boxer) they play and play in the back yard, running all over the place and fighting (play fighting). There’s a steep wooded hill in our backyard and the dogs just tear through the woods, making paths. Unfortunately it isn’t very big and they sometimes end up in some of the neighbors’ yards. but they are fun :)

Daisy is the only dog we have since Eye Eye died in June. I do babysit the granddogs from time to time. She loves that because she loves playing with other dogs.

Dogs do so much like playing. We bring them to “Doggie Daycare” once a week, sometimes twice, where they can spend all day playing with other dogs. It keeps the socialized and it’s a blast for them.

I should probably do that with Daisy.

Aw, so sweet. My daughter goes crazy when she sees dogs. She’s a sleep now so didn’t see yours. But I am sure she would have loved him.

What is it about dogs and kids? They fascinate each other.

I know! She does prefer them to cats (to her dad’s dismay haha). She loves them to lick her hands, and giggles a lot when that happens, ok only nice dogs can approach her, but most are nice :)

I know all the dogs we’ve had have been fascinated with kids, the smaller the better. It’s almost like they can tell they are babies. Well, I’m sure they can tell. For most of my life I’ve been a cat person, but having the dogs has been great – there is room for both :) Well, maybe not in a tiny Paris apartment, but in a person’s heart ;)
