Hi all and welcome to the second week of The Weekly Smile! There was a lot to smile about this last week. I had some good conversations with family members and there were a few birthdays in that area. In general things went well. But I have 2 1/2 smiles for this week.
The first is The Weekly Smile itself. It did much better than I expected. We had 19 entries! And there was a lot of going back and forth between people. That is where it all happens – thinking positive thoughts and writing a post is a good start, but the sharing is where it turns into a great event. You cane see last week’s smiles here.
My other smile is split, health and humor. I saw so many examples of humor over the last week. Not all were jokes (though there were jokes) or laugh-out-louds (though I did laugh out loud). No, some were just instances of people enjoying life with a wink and a smile. Like seeing the car that still had reindeer antlers on their car, even though it’s approaching mid-January. I passed the car at a stop and noticed the very large red Rudolph nose on the front of the car. What made the moment better was that the car in front of me had vanity plates that said “Aloha”. It was a very cold day in New Hampshire, but here was a bit of Hawaiian peace and compassion sitting right next to a Rudolph car. What could be better?
As laughter is the best medicine, I always think of health and humor together. I had a doctor’s appointment and am relatively healthy. Why this is so good and smile worthy is that I took blood pressure medicine up until two years ago. My blood pressure is still good and I’m as healthy as ever. I hope I have many years to smile and laugh and, better yet, share those smiles with the people around me bot physically and virtually, for many years to come :)
If you haven’t seen it, here is a little background to The Weekly Smile as well as some quick guidelines.
So, what made you smile this week? Write about it and post on the linky. While you’re there, read what everyone else is smiling about! And come back to it later, if last week is any indication new smiles will be added daily!
(This week is a text only link. I’ll try to get the graphic link for next week)
The reindeer and aloha- nice moment! 😊 and we keep seeing holiday lights up on certain roads – and even saw a Christmas tree in the window on the way to a game – the lights outside feels too late for me personally, but it also adds so much beauty still – anyhow – have a great day T and hope your jamming went well this weekend

I took my tree down over the weekend, but we hadn’t had it lit up for at least a week. You can hear my jamming on my latest post :) I hope you have a great week!

Solveig would be pleased to see the car with the antlers so long after Christmas. She was lamenting that people don’t celebrate the 12 days of Christmas anymore but there are others who make up for it. We still have our Christmas tree up. It’s a real one and wasn’t cheap so I’m not hurling it until its dead dead. The lights have been turned off but we suspect the cleaner.
I think we’ll probably send it off next weekend. I do have seeing the poor trees hanging upside down in wheelie bins beside the road. Surely, Christmas isn’t dead? xx Rowena

I took my tree down yesterday. I took off all of the decorations except for the string of garland and lights last week. Each year we were having more and more problems with real trees that we broke down and got an artificial one. This is the second year with it.
In many ways I think it would be great to keep some bright lights and decorations up all winter. i know it’s different down there, but it does help lighten the mood on those long nights.

There is nothing at all in your world to smile about this week? Not even something silly, like the little birds chirping in the bushes? I did see your post about friendships. Yeah, that can be depressing. I do get it – I’m sure by the number of posts I do you can tell I spend more time in front of the computer than out partying or socializing ;) You said you can tell me about it. I know that’s just a figure of speech, but if you really do want to, let me know – I might not be able to do anything, but I am a good listener.
I hope you find something to smile about for next week. I’m not saying I want you to join the link up, I’m saying I want you to smile :)

Good health and sound body is definitely something to smile about. (Although, I did have a quiet whinge to myself yesterday because now I’m back upright, I’ve been reallocated all the housework tasks, grocery shopping and ferrying kids about. Sometimes being incapacitated can have its upside. ;) )

Glad your ribs are better and I don’t feel too sorry for you for having to do your chores again. Maybe a little sorry, but ;) I hope you continue to recover and that you can start doing the things you enjoy and not just housework and such.

Being in the land of Aloha would definitely make me smile, especially in the very wet weather we are having here in Portland.

Winter finally arrived here, and it hit with a vengeance – seeing that Aloha was warming. Hope your drive was good and you are doing well back home.

Being healthy and feeling good is definitely smile worthy :)
… and yes, I too would do a double-take at ALOHA plates on a car with reindeer ears!

being healthy is definitely something to smile about :) I hate to let you down, but there were two cars, but they just happened to be sitting next to each other at the stop light. They were in front of me or beside me for about 5 miles, so seeing the two together was just so funny.

I had my granddaughter (2 weeks old) in my arms all morning yesterday.Since she was quiet when I first took her my daughter warned me she wouldn’t be quiet long, but she was as good as gold all morning. I’ve been christened ‘The Magician’ but I’m not telling that I placed her quite close to my heartbeat because that’s one of the calming and comforting sounds she’d have heard before birth.
Hugs
