This has been a weird week. There was unseasonably warm weather and unseasonably cold weather, perhaps the coldest in the last several years! There has been snow, rain and freezing mist. Oh yes, and a bit of sunshine. I have been very busy at work and home. I haven’t had time to think and my blog posts show it – very quick posts that were simple and easy to put together.
Over the last week I attended a live presentation by a New Hampshire author, Rebecca Rule, were she talked about that New England tradition of Town Meeting (more on town meeting when I attend one in March). I spent a nice relaxing weekend on Cape Cod. I wrote some music and started to setup my next recording. I watched 2 Town Hall Meetings for work, not to be confused with Town Meeting.
I talked to family and made plans. I talked to friends and I talked to coworkers. I did a little chatting with “blog friends”, who are real friends. I spent a lot of time with the puppies and some with the cats.
So, last night I took some time out and went through all of this and more. Is there anything that stands out? What was the best part of the week? I thought about a lot. Where I am, where I’m going, what I did, what I didn’t do, what I should have done, what I shouldn’t have done, what was right and what was wrong. Not the super deep soul searching that happens on occasion, but a good dose of Reflection. And it was good. At the end, I smiled.
I have a very good life. I am blessed in many ways. I can’t complain, though sometimes I still do. It’s often nice to just go through it and think about what I really have. Sure, I dream about the future and what might be, but it is great to think about seeing what already is.
And that is my smile for the week, introspection and self-reflection. Well, self-reflection and the thought of how god my life is. The good people around me.
What did you smile about?
If you haven’t seen it, here is a little background to The Weekly Smile as well as some quick guidelines.
So, what made you smile this week? Write about it and post on the linky (or click the little blue frog below). While you’re there, read what everyone else is smiling about! And come back to it later, if last week is any indication new smiles will be added daily!
Introspection, reflection all so good for the soul! Improves our relationships I believe and gets us to focus on what we may need to tweak about ourselves! Counting our blessings is important indeed. :-)

They are important things. This wasn’t the deep, deep soul-searching type of self-reflection, but it is important to stop and look at our lives a realize who lucky we are count our blessings.

Reflection and introspection are good. If nothing else, it makes us realize all the good things in our lives. Definitely a reason to smile.

Being very introverted I might spend too much time on introspection ;) When applied in the right direction it can be very good. I know the good things I have, I just often take it all for granted, so stepping back and acknowledging it is always a plus.

I love that when you’re busy your posts are “simple and easy to put together”. When I’m busy I just disappear. Always smile to see your posts coming through, Trent. (Even if I don’t always get to them. Ref: aforementioned busy.) :)
Self-reflection is good once in a while. We can get caught up in our own issues and sometimes it’s useful to take a step back and see what we’ve really got in our lives. Sounds like you have lots to smile about.

Part of my wants to disappear for a while, but then I gave myself a goal of putting up a post a day all month (I just said it out loud so I’m sure I jinxed myself). So, busy means I get to read a lot less than I’d like and put up a 2 minute post.
Self reflection can be great as long as we do more and don’t get caught doing nothing else… I do have a huge amount to smile about. Sometimes I forget, which is one reason self-reflection is great – it reminds me.

We should all practice counting our blessings too. That would lead to a lot more smiles. 😊
