Weekly Smile Week 20 – #weeklysmile

Weekly Smile #WeeklySmile

Weekly Smile #WeeklySmile

Week 20 already!  And what a week it was!

Besides all of the stuff i did in the “real world”, I spent some time talking to friends, family, acquaintances, colleagues and many others on line.  I texted, used IM (at work), messenger on Facebook, read blog posts and had conversations in comments, had conversations in comments on Facebook, looked at Instagram pictures, talked on some music forums and even did a little Twitter.  I sent and received e-mails from friends and family all over the world.  I spoke to friends I’ve known since i was six and people I met this week.

The world today so different from what it was only a few short decades ago.  I never imagined that I would someday speak to people from 6 different continents on the same day.  And speak to people from at least three or four of them every day.  My school-hood friends where just memories only a short time ago while now I am back sharing in their lives, in their tragedies and their triumphs.  I daily see the lives of relatives that I used to only visit once a year, if that.  And I have found people I connect with that I never would have had a chance to meet such a short time ago.  I belong in so many ways that even a short time ago I didn’t.

So that is my smile for today – Community and the Internet Community, the sense of community I feel.

What made you smile this week?

If you haven’t seen it, here is a little background to The Weekly Smile as well as some quick guidelines.

So, what made you smile this week? Write about it and post on the link-up (or click the little blue frog below). While you’re there, read what everyone else is smiling about! And come back to it later, if last week is any indication new smiles will be added daily!

Thinking of my Community, I was “nominated” for the “Real Neat Blog” Award by Isolated_girl at Life is all about PAIN blog.  I think it would have been more appropriate for this post if it were “The Smiling Thumb” Award (read her answer – it’s great), but either way I am grateful.  Thanks!  I am also an award free blog, so I can’t really accept the nomination.  That being said, I will answer her questions real quick:

1.Who are you and where do you belong to?

I am just a person wondering through this life trying to take it all in and interpreting what is out there through my writing, music, drawing and other creative ventures.  I’m a curious sponge and belong to the Universe.

2.What do you write and why? beside writing?

I write a lot of fiction, but also some poetry, some stuff about life the universe and everything and I just plain write.  I think, therefore I write.  It is my mind mirroring what I see in the universe.  I also want to share what I’ve discovered, even if it is only questions :)

3.What is the ultimate aim of your life?

I want to leave the world a better place than it was when I got here, even if in a very small way.  Every time I make you smile I came a small way closer to my goal :)

5.Who is the source of motivation in your life.Explain

Too many to list, but i will say my father because, damn….  Maybe someday I will write a post or twenty, though even with twenty I still would not scratch the surface.

6.Do you believe in supernatural things like lord/love anything! why?/Why not?

Maybe.  I take a purely scientific point of view, yet there is so much that is unexplained, things I’ve experienced.  And I want to believe in so many things, like the extreme power of love.  (No, I don’t watch X-files – I want to believe ;) )

Since I’m not really participating, I’m not going to nominate more people or come up with questions.  If this looks fun to you, you can just do it on your own and answer Isolated_girl’s questions.

The single best thing about all the crazy technology in the world today is the ability to travel around the world and meet people from every walk of life with out ever leaving your home. Bringing people closer and opening up new worlds is my favorite part of FB and the world of blogging. Great smile!!!

The technology does make the world a smaller place, but in a very good way. Although parts of the Internet divide people, giving a feedback loop to help fuel extremism, much of it is so much more open and friendly. That’s the part I like :)

Thanks for the reminder about the good side of all this electronic communication. Some days, when I’m battling with the boys about screen usage, it all seems like a trial and I wish I was raising my boys in a time when the only screen I’d have to control is one tv. But all this technology does have it’s upside as you have amply pointed out. Thanks, Trent.

There are many upsides, person from the other side of the world that I would never had met if it wasn’t for said Internet ;) I’ve watched kids and I know it can be a pain – some of them want to be having some sort of screen time all of the time.

I haven’t seen you in a while. i hope your doing well! I’ll pop over and see if you have a new post.

Yes, life has been busy. I’ve been getting a lot of work, the play I’m in opened a couple of weeks ago and I’ve been battling a cough that’s been keeping me awake at night. Blogging has had to come a long way down the list I’m afraid. But I’m grabbing moments when I can to at least catch up on some posts.

I forgot all about the play! I hope it’s going well. I’ve been very busy, but obviously not as much as you. I have slowed down my blogging a little, but it is mostly effecting my reading, not posting.

I hope your cough goes away soon and you can get sleep (I had a few weeks that I didn’t sleep in late winter – yes, awful always being tired.)
