It matters not
That we’re far apart
You remain
Dear to my heart
Miles and oceans
Between me and you
Cuts no tether
Obscures no view
I’ve often wondered
How mind and heart
Can bind so strongly
To not rip apart
When time and distance
Appear so great
Yet this pound of muscle
Is willing to wait
It matters not
That we’re far apart
You still remain
Dear to my heart

Trent, nicely done! I agree, setting this to music would be lovely. Smiles Robin

Thanks Robin! Some day I may try to set this to music – I haven’t been writing a lot of music lately, but I will again at some point.

Oh this is so sweet ! It has that ‘classical’ touch to the way it sounds especially the chorus: it matters not that we are far apart. You still remain dear to my heart.
Very beautiful Trent! 😊

Hey T – very nice flow and feels greeting card worry too – which no hope is not a bad thing to you –

Thanks. I think there was a bit more of a flow and rhythm to this than a lot of my poetry. Greeting card? Maybe :)

The pound of flesh had me curious – most people are many pounds – and a heart is less than one – so I am curious about the choice of a single pound ?

I was thinking the heart – yeah, maybe less than a pound (usually 1/2 to 3/4 lb.), but close enough for poetry ;)

Yeah – that works – but the line stands out – oh and I do see how it could apply to blog land – ha!

This would make a lovely song. Set to classical music and sung softly. I really like it as well. Thank you.

Thanks! That’s a good idea. I haven’t written classical music in quite a few years, but I could easily do an “art rock” song, like I did with Brisies – I had originally written a poem to be an art song but later rewrote it to fit a more prog-rock format – https://trentsworldblog.wordpress.com/2015/07/22/briseis-that-was-yesterday-video/

Very cool. Yes setting it to music like that would be great. Soft and low. (Although the ending on that one was sad.)

Thanks. I have a music project that I’m working on, but perhaps I’ll look into doing something with this next.
