Weekly Smile #WeeklySmile

A lot has happened since I put up the Weekly Smile week 38 post.  Unfortunately I already posted about some of the bigger events.  Oh, things like spending a day in Boston with my niece and seeing several of the big Western country’s foreign ministers (headed off my the US Secretary of State) entering a restaurant for a power lunch.  You know anything I write after that, like playing with the dogs or whatnot, would be a let down.

But you know, I’ve had plenty of smiles that didn’t include travel (even the very short distance to Boston) or world leaders or family members.  Yes, playing with the dogs and playing with the cats made me smile.  Run up and down the impossibly steep hill behind my house, ducking under low hanging branches and scrambling over logs as I chase two crazy dogs is fun…  The weather has been nice.  Even the rain we had made me smile because we have been in an extreme drought.  (If you follow the link in the last sentence, I live in a part that is red/extreme drought – so I meant it literally.)  Nice walks, nice runs and exercising have all made me smile.  I’m just staring a new book (reading, not writing, though I have a new idea) and am happy about that – I haven’t been reading enough.  Talking to friends and family are all smile worthy.  Even preparing for the annual Penny Sale at Lions Club made me smile.  And there are more and more.

Although we tend to look at the big, monumental things that happen, life is made up of a series of little things.  Perhaps 95% of my life is little things, though it could be closer to 99.99%.  A secret to true happiness is to be aware of the little things and to enjoy them.  Be thankful for he smallest blessing, and take pride in the smallest accomplishment.  Smile at the every day, for the every day is what life is about.  The small things matter.

So that was this weeks smile, all of the small things, the little things that often go unnoticed.
