I just returned from a long walk on a cold, windy beach. Nothing tells you that you are alive as much as the cutting sea-flavoured wind cutting at your cheeks. (Cheeks on my face, you of the dirty minds).
If you have been following my coffee shares you know that December has been more than busy. Work has been nonstop and stressful. There has been so much going on. So this week I am doing nothing, absolutely nothing.
I began my week off going out with friends. There have been other chats with other friends. And family – we’ve talked about the year, politics, the latest movies, deaths, etc. We have talked about life. I am very quiet, but it is nice to chat with loved ones.
I also did other things, like walks in the woods, walks on the beach, kayaking, walking the dogs, playing with the dogs, etc. (Photo below taken this morning on Mayflower beach in Dennis, MA on Cape Cod.
And then there was a lot of editing (I read my short story book out loud and made a ton of corrections). I wrote a 6000 word story yesterday, which I’ll post later. I did some other small scale writing.
And I’ve relaxed.
So today’s smile is relaxing after a very hard month.
What made you smile this week?
If you haven’t seen it, here is a little background to The Weekly Smile as well as some quick guidelines.
So, what made you smile this week? Write about it and post on the link-up (or click the little blue frog below). While you’re there, read what everyone else is smiling about! And come back to it later, if last week is any indication new smiles will be added daily!
Note – the weekly smile runs Wednesday Morning to Wednesday morning. I post in the morning (Eastern US) and put up the link usually between 7 and 8 AM EST. I also try to post on Sunday as a reminder. People can and do join throughout the week.

Reading your own writing it lots is a great way to edit. I always tell people that but few believe it. I’m glad you did it!

I too often use the wrong word or miss words when typing. I catch at least some of them when I read it out loud. It is the last-pass through on my editing, when I’m getting down to the nitty gritty word use and such.

relaxing always brings a smile. I am headed out into the cold, windy, gray day in NJ to revive and invigorate myself- camera in hand :-)

Going out with the camera is another great thing that always brings smiles, even if you come back with no photographs :) (It is beautiful and sunny, if cold and windy, on Cape Cod)

When it is this cold and windy I usually don’t walk on the beach bare-bottomed ;)

Does that mean when it’s warm and calm you do walk on the beach bare-bottomed? *giggle* Don’t answer that…. just the thought has brought my smile for this week. : ). Thank you! Sorry, I was being cheeky ….

I’m not saying one way or another… On the other hand, if you have a few minutes read this from mid October and see if I answered your question: https://trentsworldblog.wordpress.com/2016/10/24/seal-hunting/

(It was the line “I know my back-end was a little exposed” that I was thinking of -my back end did get wet while my shorts stayed pretty dry…. ;) )

Yes, I caught the “back-end” reference. You drew a wonderfully visual picture in that post; it was a delightful read. : ) Thank you!

Seeing (and hearing) the seals was pretty cool even if my phone camera wasn’t able to get a good picture. As far as exposing tender spots to the seals, the things I go through to try to get a good photo!
