Over the weekend, being stuck inside due to ill health, I finally looked at the photos I took earlier in the month. It was amazing to see that despite the late spring-like temperatures of February 24, how bad the weather was just 11 days before that, on February 13. We had snow on average of every other day for the first two weeks of February, including a couple of decent size storms. We also had some very cold temperatures to go with all of that snow. And then, two weeks later and it is 74 F/23 C! Almost all of the snow is gone! But then, I see in the long range forecast that they are predicting a large snow storm in about week. Winter may be back.
I didn’t have time to walk around take a lot of winter photos, but i got a few of the dogs playing after the first big snow. The dogs love playing in the snow, the deeper the better! Because of the large contrast in color with the snow, Fiyero was hard to photograph.
I like the picture below because, although it is blurry, it looks like Idina (white dog) is breaking the sound barrier and that there is a shock wave around her.
Here is a snow troll. Do you see it?
Here are a few pictures. Click on them to make them bigger and see the detail. This includes those from above.

Great pictures, Trent. No more than a dusting here this winter…Ani is sad about that, she loves the snow too.

Thanks Sue. I’m sure Ani was very sad about the snow situation there.

She still keeps watching. So do I for that matter…but it appears to be spring.

It appears to be spring here too, but I’ve seen snow as late as May, so the dogs are still hoping.

There was a wedding we missed one year due to several feet of snow in May… but by then I need it to be decent… people to see in distant corners of the land :)

The dogs had a ball. Great shots Trent! We had only an inch of snow in January and February. It’s pitiful for Ohio.

Thanks! It is so fun watching them play.
My parents live up near Lake Erie, so they got a little more than you down in Columbus, but not much.

I can see the dogs loved the snow…. It does look beautiful!

No matter how much I complain about the snow,it is beautiful. And New Hampshire is a very pretty state in all seasons. The dogs were in pure-puppy-paradise playing in the snow.

Your dogs are the embodiment of pure joy in these pics! We’ve basically had no winter weather this year… 7 1/2 inches of snow all season, no below zero days, and the warmest February on record.

Thanks! the dogs are ultra-playful and have fun running around our hillside, but add a foot of snow? They are in puppy-paradise!
It has been a weird winter. The temperatures have been on a yo-yo from cold to warmer than normal. Except that two week bit of winter, we had very little snow. Typically we have that type of snowy weather for three to four months.

I’d be totally okay with a two week bit of winter, but we haven’t had even that! Never say never in Ohio, though, until mid-April anyway. But, at this point I doubt we’ll have a storm.

Yep, growing up in Northern Ohio I understand…. Winter here in NH is usually a little worse that there, though.

And weather in Columbus isn’t remotely as bad as in Northern Ohio. But we usually still have some winter weather!

Yes you do – I spent 5 years at OSU and remember a winter or two…

Times have changed, man. Winters here are not at all what they used to be. We still regularly got big storms in the 1980s, even into the 1990s. Now, we might get one every five years. It’s not the same, weather-wise. My family in the Mansfield area might get, say, 6 inches and we’ll get an inch here if we’re lucky.

They had a blast in the snow. If it were up to them, there would be at least a foot of snow to play in all year round! I’m a little better – still recovering, but getting stuff done at work. Thanks!

Your pictures are awesome. Makes me sad that there wasn’t a winter like this for me in my neck of the woods. I’ve yet to use my, recently repaired, snow blower; which of course is the reason that winter passed me by :-)

I’m sure the recently repaired snow blower is the exact reason the snow skipped you this year…. I grumble about the snow, but i do enjoy it. Maybe not as much as the dogs, pretty pretty close.
Thanks!
