Hello and Welcome! Come on in and I’ll get you a nice mug of a very strong Sumatra Roast. I can also get you a cuppa tea (black, green, white, herbal), a mug of hot cocoa or other beverage. It is beginning to warm up nicely and will be relatively warm today and tomorrow. And where are we? Some of you may recognize the photo at the top as coming from Cape Cod.
Odd week this week. I didn’t work on Monday (I won’t say why, beyond saying if you read the news you may know – I’ll neither confirm nor deny). I didn’t get a lot done, unfortunately. It rained most of the day, and it began to freeze in the evening. That was fine since it was supposed to get up in to the 50s F on Tuesday. I kept looking at the temperature and weather web site. It showed the warm up starting, yet the temperature stayed at a few degrees below freezing. It didn’t move all night or all day. I worked from home on Tuesday because of the ice. I would put down sand, and an hour later the sand would be frozen over and not providing any traction. At the end we had a torrential downpour followed by a crash in temperatures. Although Wednesday was a little above freezing, the ground was frigid. The good news was that the ice didn’t accumulate too much on the branches. The bad is that the ground was covered in a half an inch of ice. I put sand down and it just made it slicker. I chipped most of the ice off of the driveway – as the day went on, chipping became easier. But the backyard, which is on the north side of the house, is still 100% covered in ice, Unfortunately, that is the way we take the dogs out for a walk…
I came down to Cape Cod Wednesday evening. I am here alone, without even a dog. And it is nice ;) I haven’t done too much. I was able to leave work a little early yesterday and so took a long walk in the woods and went to the beach for a few minutes. Today is different. I already took a long walk on the beach and have a full day planned.
Work was pretty tough this week. A lot happening!
I am supposed to be taking a break from working on The Halley Branch, yet last night I wrote almost 5000 words on it. I know, I am finished with my third draft, but I decided to add a little to fill out the characters some more.
There was more, but that is enough for now. I need to get on with the day! So I am off to do some other stuff out here on the Cape. I’ll be popping on and off the blog and hope to do some coffee share visiting later.
Nice to have the chat! I hope you have a great week! Talk to you later.
The original Coffee Share kind of died out, but it has been revived! Eclectic Alli is hosting a coffee share. This week’s share is here. and the link up is here. Come on and join in! Hopefully we can bring it back to its former glory :)
I guess maybe the best thing about the week is that it’s over?! I hope this coming week is a gentler one! Enjoy your time on the Cape!

Thanks! Besides the ice and the unwanted day off, most of the week actually went OK. The ice, though…. It has been nice down here and I’ve relaxed a lot. I’ll leave first thing in the morning, but getting away is always good.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend and have a great week ahead.

I would love to have a beach to walk – even if frozen. Such great scenery!

I love spending time down here just for this particular beach. It doesn’t matter the season, it is a great place to walk.

The great thing about walking icy beaches is that you have them to yourself ;) A mug of strong coffee is waiting for you. Have a great weekend!

Very cool you are writing a book .. I am toying secretly with that idea as I love to write. Any insights?

This is actually the second book – I put out The Fireborn in 2017.
I have always wanted to write a book and have had several ideas over the years. What changed is that I finally had the patience to sit down and write out one of my ideas. The rough draft was very rough. I had done some research before and during that initial draft, but saved the deeper research for the rewrite.
That is the thing – the first draft is a lot of fun, but 99% of it is what comes after that draft.
So just sit down and write. Good luck!

I am so thankful that the deep freeze weather missed us :)
Enjoy the rest of your weekend Trent.

It was odd – I think you were warmer than us. Central MA, most of NH (except the north!) and central Maine all had freezing rain but it was warm around us, even, as I said, to the north up into Canada. Just odd!
Thanks, you too! And enjoy your week.

We thought so too – though we were glad the freezing rain missed us 😊

What happens when all that ice melts? Can you ship some to California? Nice to read about the new coffee share, too!

I’d love to ship some of the water your way… We had been in a drought (not like California!) for a few years, but I think it officially ended last year.
Since Alison took over the coffee share a few people have jumped on board. There have been a couple of weeks with quite a few people, but most weeks are still slow. I hope people do return to it!

Sounds like there were some tough points this week. I was on vacation
…so i only had to work two days
I spent a couple days in Boston with my son.

“Tough” is a relative term, but, yeah, there were a few patches in there that were less enjoyable than usual. I hope you enjoyed your vacation. I haven’t been into Boston in ages. Have a great week.

It was actually a lot of fun having my son home from South Korea and he loves Boston.
