“I know what the sign said, but don’t worry honey, another car won’t be by in at least a week.”
“Really?”
“Yes, really.”
“Those were your last words?”
Bob looked down and fidgeted. “Yes.”
St. Peter sighed and wrote something in his large book. He looked back at Bob and shook his head.
“At least you didn’t say, ‘Hold my beer and watch this’.” He sighed again. “OK, go on in.”

Wonder if St Peter is tired of filling in the paperwork…..in triplicate… Nice one.

One of the most thankless jobs in the Cosmos, I’m sure ;) Thanks.

And yes, there are still Darwin Awards, but not as often as there used to be. I know they are still putting out books.

I’ll have to Google them some day. They can be fun to read when I’m a dark mood..

Nice to see you again! You’ve been missing for the past few days along with about half the other people I usually see. You also made me smile. I needed that. Actually, I always need a good smile.

I’m glad I could make you smile :) I have been busy and not on line as much the last few days, but it sounds like a WP problem. In the last two days I’ve had a couple of people follow me that have been followers for years. Not sure why WP does that.

LOL. St Peter sounds as though he is tiring of his job. Heard one too many stories.

If you want to know how stupid we humans can be, then I guess this is the job for you. ;)

So much fun, Trent. Of course St. Peter has to have a sense of humour. Just think how dull his job would be otherwise?
Love it.

yes, I would think he would have to have a great sense of humor and a heavenly wit. Thanks.

What a job St Peter has… and he’s so stoic about it too !

I wouldn’t want the job! On the other hand, I’m sure he has heard some good stories ;)

Dear Trent,
I would imagine St. Peter would have to have a sense of humor given his job description. When it comes to denial, Peter nearly cornered the market on it. ;) Good one.
Shalom,
Rochelle

It’s nice to know that ST. Peter has such a hep sense of humor and ability to deal with a wide variety of people

I would think anyone who has to deal with humanity in any way better have a great sense of humor or we are all in trouble ;)

He especially has to keep that in mind because his job is so important

Ha.. I know that there is no rules against stupidity to enter… maybe that’s a good thing

I think most of us are hoping there aren’t rules against stupidity – Heaven would be a lonely place for those few that would be able to make it in ;)

Great fun. I had to start over after you threw St. Peter into the mix–I thought the guy was talking to his wife, which he was, but—-well anyway. your story made me laugh :)

When I looked it over again, I got the impression he was talking to St. Peter, telling him what he said to his wife

Pretty sure St. Peter would have seen worse than the ‘hold my beer’ caper. Nice one, Trent.

I’m sure there have been plenty that have been much worse. Thanks.

Okay… go in…
but dfo not let this guy drive in heaven. His wife gets the kets – hahha
but he can have all the beer he wants
LikeLiked by 1 person
Of course the wife got in first, no questions asked. I’m sure she’ll make sure he stays away from the keys… I never thought of beer as being a heavenly drink, but sure, all the beer he wants – if his wife has the keys…

well dude – if God is the Master Artist don’t you think he is also the Master Brewmaster.
I know many abstain from alcohol for religious or personal reasons – but some of it is a gift from the Creator – and did you think the banquet tables and mansions would not have at least beer and wine?
hahhah
and yes – his wife keeps the keys – or angels drive them around (Ok – I am getting carried away)

“he is also the Master Brewmaster” never thought of it that way, but I’m sure you’re right. Something to look forward to (I hope ;) )

well I know alcohol is a problem area for many folks…. and rightfully so because it can pull and the vortex and all that – lol

I think I need a drink after this conversation… Sorry, I couldn’t resist ;) Slightly more seriously, I do know too many people with alcohol problems, but I know just as many responsible drinkers. My joke about “I hope” was I hope I make it to heaven to find out ;)

Good story and I like the note about the Darwin Award.
I never thought about St Peter having to stand and listen to a series of lame excuses before though I must admit the photo got me thinking about the hereafter too.

Looking at that photo, I think one small misstep and you will be seeing if there really is an afterlife in the very near future ;) Thanks. I like to have fun with these FF micro-fiction stories.

You hit the funny bone with this one, Trent. It’s Saint Peter’s resignation that makes it so effective I think. It gave me a good chuckle!

Haha! Reminds me of this segment of the BBC Horrible Histories show, called ‘Stupid Deaths’ – and it highlighted all the most ridiculous deaths of people in the past. I don’t doubt people in the present have stupid deaths too – I just hope mine isn’t one, having written this…

I don’t know if they still do it, but there used to be a group that had the stupid death of the year called “The Darwin Award”, so named because these are the people you want taken out of the gene pool. Of course I see memes for “Hold my beer…” all of the time – it is the last words of the day.
