Hello and Welcome! Come on in and I’ll get you some type of beverage. Does that sound odd? Well, it is now evening, and I for one would be up all night if I had any coffee right now. It’s getting a little cool out, but I might light a fire in the fire pit tonight to start getting rid of some of the dead branches. We have piles of them from all of the storms we had in March. And where are we? Some of you may recognize the Beatles mugs as being on Cape Cod.
In a semi-last minute decision I decided to take this last week off of work. I didn’t have any plans, I just needed a break. I stayed in New Hampshire (NH) until Tuesday evening and then drove down here to Cape Cod. In NH I did some light hiking. I live in a beautiful area with a lot of waterfalls within a 10 minute drive. OK, some of them are then an hour or two walk, but… The weather was great and I enjoyed being out in it. And I discovered a “new” waterfall that is just off of the road when I drive to one of the nicer “gentle” hiking areas close by. See the photo below.
It rained all day Wednesday. I did get out a little, but not much. I guess a lazy day on occasion is nice. Thursday started wet and cool, but turned into a beautiful day. Friday was nice until noon and then it cooled down and was wet in the evening. Today was great. In fact, it was so nice I am just now sitting down to write this.
Let’s see, today I started the day with a long walk at Chapin Beach. I then went kayaking. I then took a walk in the woods at Bells Neck. And in the later afternoon I took the dogs to West Dennis beach to play. Of course I had the dogs out back to play (or laze in the sun) a few times and did a few walks with them. In other words, I didn’t stop today. Until now.
I think I got a few good osprey photos on Thursday. I’m talking the birds hitting the water or lifting out of the water with a fish. I also saw a few loons, which I rarely see here on Cape Cod.
I’m driving back to NH early in the morning. And then Monday I return to reality. (I don’t want to go back!)
Thanks for stopping by! It was nice chatting. If you have a coffee chat I will try to stop by for a visit, but it might be late this evening or tomorrow. or Monday.
The original Coffee Share kind of died out, but it has been revived! Eclectic Alli is hosting a coffee share. This week’s share is here. and the link up is here. Come on and join in! Hopefully we can bring it back to its former glory :)
Sometimes I don’t want the weekend to end. I don’t work so that almost doesn’t make sense but the weekend are always so much more laid back and I don’t want that to end. I’m glad you got the time off that you needed.

Sometimes I don’t want my little vacations (or stay-cation, as this one was) to end… I understand about weekends. During the week everyone is in a rush, which makes you feel that way. However, it is also possible to find quiet, out of the way spots that don’t exist on the weekends. Hiking midweek is much more relaxing than on the weekend when you share the trails with 100,000 other people and feels more like a NYC traffic jam than a hiking trail…

The waterfall looks lovely. Good idea to have a week off – you sound as though you made good use of it. Hard to go back to reality after a good time and the weather is so good. Thanks for the beverage – mine was green tea or just hot water if you didn’t have any.

Reality has been hard – it’s been busy! As you, it has taken my 12 hours to respond to you… the weather was bad yesterday, so that helped, but it has turned nice again. I’m going to make it back to the “new” falls with my real camera soon.
Thanks for joining me for coffee!

And I appreciate your new photograph at the beginning. A new start for the restart.

Actually this is one of four photos I use – I have the “McDonald’s Pub/Moog Synthesizer” for when I am in New Hampshire, The Beatles for the Cape and the Edward Gorey for the Cape as well, and then there is the travel mug when I am someplace else. I do need another NH one so I can mix those up as well. Maybe someday have a collection of a dozen or more coffee photos to match not only location but mood as well…

It is actually almost as far from Boston to Mexico City as from Boston to London. Well, over 2800 miles compared to over 3200, so 400 miles difference. I would like to explore some of the ancient sites in Mexico, the pyramids and such. Maybe some day…
Glad you are having a good time!

Sounds like you had a lovely time with nature during the past week Trent. You probably needed some rest from the rat race in order to recharge yourself.

It was nice to take the week off and relax outside a bit. Unfortunately I have to catch up and do last week’s work…

This is a neat way of sharing a coffee! I may try to do this as well. I enjoyed “our” chat as well! It sounded like you had a really great day. Here in Texas, we’re already experiencing lots of heat. It cools down to maybe around 50 or so. I love going hiking. My dog, however, does not. She is would either run off or be lazy. There is no in between lol

I do like the coffee shares. I don’t put up many personal posts so the coffee chat is one time I can just talk about me. I think you should join in! At one time almost 50 people would join, but it is now down to maybe a dozen a week.
I’m sure it is getting hot down there already. I am not a hot weather person – I spent one summer in Dallas and another in OKC and I think I will stay up here in New England, thank you ;) Well, at least in the summer.
I do more walking in the woods with my dogs than real “hiking”. As they get older they are better behaved if I let them go off leash, but they do like to explore more than listen….
Thanks for stopping by for coffee. I hope you had a great weekend. have a good week ahead.
