Where are we going
On this mad dash to nowhere
Rushing to get there?
There’s no need to finish first
We should savor and endure

This was written for Colleen’s Weekly Poetry Challenge. The key words today were “Hurry” and “Last”. Following her suggestion, I didn’t use the words, I used only synonyms.

I had similar thoughts. The problem with today is that we are not given the choice. Use to be run or get left behind – and some of us didn’t mind getting left behind – living a different sort of life in our own way. Now its run or be punished. You are not allowed to live a slower, quieter life.

Years ago we were told that the technology was going to allow us more leisure so we could slow down and enjoy life more. It has done the exact opposite, it has sped us up. It is possible to slow down a little, but much harder to live that life all of the time.

Hi – I haven’t “seen” you around in a while.
The bird is an osprey. They are one of my favorite birds to photograph. I’ve had a few captures of osprey catching fish.

Some people just assume you are in a race when you’re not and you don’t even like ‘running’. Everyone assumes I’m a race along person but in fact i’m a slow and steady, stick things out person.

I can believe that. You are in a very competitive field, but you seem to enjoy life. That’s what it’s about, enjoying life.
