If We Were Having Coffee on the 23rd of September

Coffee in NH with Moog

Hello and Welcome!  Come on in and I’ll get you a large mug of a very strong Sumatra Roast!  As usual I have an assortment of teas and other beverages. Actually, let’s sit outside.  It is still cool, but is a gorgeous day.  And where are we?  Some of you may know that the photo at the top of the page was taken in New Hampshire.

I was on Cape Cod last weekend.  What’s new, right?  For the most part it was typical late summer/early autumn.  I went swimming, took walks on the beach, long walks in the woods etc.  What is different, though, is that I spent all day Sunday there and drove back on Monday.

I teleworked on Monday morning, but half way through the morning I left and drove up to Cambridge MA.  I work with Akamai, a company that has its headquarters in Cambridge.  The people I usually work with aren’t there, but one was visiting, so I stopped in and got a tour (it was pre arranged – I didn’t just drop in ;) ).  I then drove back to New Hampshire from there.  So a very different Monday.

I went into the office on Tuesday.  What was left of Florence was coming through, but I had to go in.  Well, the closed the building at 8 AM.  The parking lot was flooded.  More than that, one of the main streets in had a couple of feet of standing water.  I think we got about 7 inches of rain over a few hours.  Nothing compared to the Carolinas, but still a lot of water!  I went home and teleworked the rest of the day from there.

Wednesday was close to normal.  I had massage in the afternoon.  The only problem with Wednesday was that it is colder and wetter than it was supposed to be, as was Thursday and Friday.

I had to go into the office on Thursday, supposedly to finish up what I went in for on Tuesday, but someplace there must have been a miscommunication and it never happened :)  In the evening I went car shopping.

Friday was a normal work day, if somewhat busy for a Friday.  The day ended with home and property issues.

Anyway, so the week was odd.  Not the normal.  I did get out running twice (Tuesday and Saturday).  I also took a lot of long walks with the dogs.  I didn’t do much writing, except for the blog.

Anyway, I do need to get out and enjoy the beautiful day.  I’m glad you stopped by for the visit.  If you do a coffee share post I’ll try to stop by and see how things are in your world.  Have a great week!

The original Coffee Share kind of died out, but it has been revived!  Eclectic Alli is hosting a coffee share.  This week’s share is here. and the link up is here. Come on and join in!  Hopefully we can bring it back to its former glory!

That sounds like a very eventful week! Is the worst of the storm over now? I mean the flooding part. Did you get a new car? It’s fun shopping for vehicles. If you’re not pressed for time. I hope you’re having a great week!

We didn’t get anyplace close to as much water as the south. It was also over a much smaller area, so the flooding was pretty short lived.

No new car yet, but hopefully soon.

Thanks! I hope you are having a great week!

I love telework. It makes life so much easier. I put my cottage on Cape Cod in my telework agreement, so I am able to use the cottage about three times as often. I hope you get it soon.

Thanks. I hope you have a great week as well.

Hey Trent – I was wondering how much of that small storm from the south would reach you. Glad it was not much. Buildings closed for rain can still be a big deal as you know well. Hope things settle back down soon. Warmest regards,

Thanks, Gary. The parking lot and the road out front often flood, but this was the worst I’d seen it. Our area received between 5 and 7 inches, so I can assume my work was in the 7″ zone…. Beyond some inconveniences, our area was nothing compared to the south and things settled down pretty quick.
