The Weekly Smile 11/5/2018 #weekly Smile

weeklysmile2a

Hi all!  This was a weird week.  i was sick.  Boo.  thinking of “Boo”, it was also Halloween week, the week of my favorite holiday!  And I had a birthday.  My birthday was on Halloween, which is one reason Halloween is my favorite holiday ;)  I spent several days down at the cottage on Cape Cod.  Always a great smile there.

Which brings up this week’s smile – Dogs Playing in the Surf.

Late Saturday afternoon we took the dogs down to the beach.  It was super windy!  But it was reasonably warm, in the low 60s F (around 17 C).  Well, not warm, but not cold.  Jacket weather, but not coat and gloves.  or hats – I always were a hat, but I couldn’t in the wind!

The beach was empty.  My guess is that the wind scared everyone off.  So we let the dogs run free.  Not that they went very far from us – stick close at all times.  But they had a blast!  The ran, played, fought (play fight) and all of that other stuff dogs do when having a beach vacation.  Fiyero spent a lot of time in the water, going under some of the bigger waves!

Idina went in more than usual, but is still afraid of the surf, so didn’t go too far.  But she did want to pounce on Fiyero whenever he was close enough:

My smile this week is about watching the dogs play in the water at the beach.  Soon it will be too cold for them, so it is nice to enjoy while we can.

What made you smile?

****

Come on, I’m sure you smiled at least once last week.  Why don’t you share it?  I hope you can join in!

Here is list of “rules” and guiding ideas.  If you don’t have time to read it right now, just remember that this is an exercise to spread positivity.  Don’t smile about the misfortune of others.  Don’t smile in a way to excludes others.  Make sure a 12 year old can read it.

And remember, the Smile can be anything, large or small.  Nothing, nothing at all is too small for a Smile!  Sometimes taking time to notice those small, every day smiles is more important than those once in a lifetime huge ones :)

To join in, write a post to share your smile and then leave a comment on this post with a link to your smile.  Or, if you prefer, do a pingback to this post (pingback = have a link from your post to this one).   You can post any time until next Sunday evening (to be simple, I will say midnight GMT, which is 7 PM Sunday for me).   Next week I will compile all of the Smiles and do a separate post of them on Monday morning just before the smile.  (I will shoot for around 7 AM EST).

Try to use the hashtag #WeeklySmile when you use Twitter or other social media that uses hashtags. I searched Twitter and found that #weeklysmile had been used only a handful of times back in 2012 and 2013. It hasn’t been used since. So it’s ours! I also registered it on Twubs.

You can use the graphic at the top. It is the official graphic for the event.

Now go out there and find something to smile about! :)

“There are days I go in search of the kind, compassionate, loving and beautiful. Despite what we sometimes see on the news, FB and elsewhere, there is much more beauty in the world than ugliness, much more kindness than hate or cruelty. Perhaps we should all have a goal to make at least one person smile every day.”

Giving is far better than receiving. I love to make people smile… not always possible, but I try. :)

I agree, giving is better than receiving :) Despite being a total Introvert, I do try to make people smile. If the best way for me to do it is with blog posts, well here it is ;) I enjoy doing the Weekly Smile and like that others have been so positive about it.

It can be if you don’t know the dogs, but I can reach my hand in the middle of the worst of it with ours and know I will be safe (there is always a chance for an accident, so I don’t! usually – I have before)

I’m sorry you’ve been sick. Yeah, I think it’s one of them that everyone has been getting. I thought it was gone, but hacked all night last night. As to the rain, I’m with you! Ugh, I don’t remember such an awful Autumn! “October sky blue” is my favorite color and I saw it maybe once this year. Hope you feel better soon! (and hope it stops raining soon!)

As a kid I sometimes took advantage of a Halloween birthday, now I just make little jokes about it, like, “There is always a party on my birthday! Unfortunately I’m never invited.” ;)

Yes, that is a huge smile :)
