Hello and Welcome! Come on in and I’ll get you a large mug of a very strong Sumatra roast, a cuppa tea or other beverage. It is damp out there, but no longer rain. It’s also cool, though it doesn’t feel bad when put of the wind. I took a long walk on a windy, wet beach this morning (just took off my soaking socks) and it was a little more raw than when I was out back playing with the dogs earlier. And where am I that is wet and cool with empty windy beaches to explore? Some of you may recognize the photo at the top as coming from Cape Cod. Yes, that bat is by Edward Gorey, since I am close to the Edward Gorey House….
This is a week where a lot happened, but there is little to write about. Most of it was the same old routine. Work. Playing with the dogs. That type of stuff.
I have fallen out of my exercise routine – Every time I am sick, the first day I feel good I go out for a run. The next day my illness comes back two fold and stretches out another week. I decided to not run this time. You know what? The illness came back anyway, though not as bad. Monday night I began to feel bad again and I felt horrid on Tuesday. I had driven into the office and didn’t feel like leaving early, so I stuck it out. I felt a little better on Wednesday and better again on Thursday. But I will wait a few days to start exercising again…
After work on Tuesday I did vote. I would have to be on death’s door and unconscious to miss that!
I did a little writing and a little editing. i am behind on my editing though! I need to get with it so I can get my book out on December 4th as planned!
Yesterday I pulled out the first story I wrote as part of my “writing rediscovery”. I wrote it in November of 2009. I did a few edits in January of 2010, but haven’t touched it since. I posted it as found, mistakes and all… I hope people like it. In a few days I am going to put up a post about the history behind my writing “reawakening”.
And I am back on Cape Cod again, despite rain and cold. I like it here ;)
Oh, quick thought. I posted a silly selfie yesterday and someone said i should use it as an author’s promo photo. It isn’t a “good” photo, but I can see the point:
Here is the photo I use in my books and for publicity:
Yes, the same location. i think the person thought the new one looked more “moody”, the way an author is supposed to look ;) (And yes, my eyes often do look closer to black than to blue…)
Well that’s it. I do have some work to do around the house and other things on my agenda.
Thanks for visiting and having coffee with me! I hope you are enjoying your weekend. If you have a coffee share I will try to stop by.
The original Coffee Share kind of died out, but it has been revived! Eclectic Alli is hosting a coffee share. This week’s share is here. and the link up is here. Come on and join in! Hopefully we can bring it back to its former glory! (Note – it is coming back! A lot of people have rejoined and there are plenty of new faces :) ).
Hi Trent. Great to catch up. I’ve spent the day at a funeral today. Not someone I knew terribly well. He was our District Scout leader and one of those people who just appears out of nowhere and you’d have a chat. Turns out he was equally involved in Rotary and the Church and also held down a job and family. Seems like he led three lives simultaneously and led a life of absolute service, which I found very inspiring. Thought I needed to ramp myself up. My son came with me and was part of the guard of honour in his scout uniform. It was good for him to feel part of the larger community whole.
We came home with so much food
Have you ever seen Harold & Maude? Here’s a link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harold_and_Maude
I think I might have to get a copy of it.
I forgot to post my link so here it is: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harold_and_Maude
Best wishes,

Some people are very inspirational in how much they serve the community. Sounds like this was one of them.
It has been many years since I’ve seen Harold & Maude. I still might have the VHS tape, but no VHS player in the house… It was a great movie. I also like Cat Stevens (it’s his music throughout).
You put up two links to Harold & Maude. Did you mean for the second to be to your coffee share? I’ll go look for it – I know I read, and commented on, a post about having a car accident and a colonoscopy – neither are fun ;)

That was my coffee share. Decided it was important to share those weeks or parts of weeks that are a struggle. I was quite annoyed with myself about the car accident but have thought through things further and spoken to other people who’ve used it and am letting myself off the hook and am going to have a chat with the insurance company tomorrow. The lack of parking and the awkwardness of the existing car park needs to be addressed.

That photo definitely has a that book sleeve author photo feel; the rakish angle of course it would also depend on the seriousness of your boks if its a physics text book then the other loos more Dr Who ha

Yeah, I guess they are much closer to Dr. Who than a graduate level physics text book, unless it is a text book on time travel and Time Lords ;) Thanks. I hope things are going well in your part of the world. I will try to stop by your coffee post later and see.

lol… I think I’ll to save that one for a future project. I have written some time travel stories, but I don’t think there are any in this upcoming book of stories.

The new selfie does look very friendly. Inviting sort of. Both photos are good. I admit that for the longest time, since a short modeling career in my early 20’s, I’ve hated to be in photos, both candid photos, portrait, and selfies. Lately I’ve found myself being more OK with it. Best of luck with your upcoming book.

Thanks. I have always done better on the side of the lens that has a camera between me and it than the business side ;) I don’t care for selfies because they often distort features with their wide angle lenses. But occasionally I like a photo.. I have liked the selfies you’ve posted on Instagram and on the blog.
Thanks.
Oh, BTW, forgot to mention on your post, I am so sorry for your friends’ troubles in the ongoing fires. I don’t know about moving to Vegas in general, but it looks like it was a good idea for you – I don’t think I’d want to live in what has become “fire country”!
I hope your weekend went well and that you have a great week ahead!

Hopefully we’ll both be able to get back into our exercise routine soon! I will do a little weight training later today and may do my first run in over two weeks tomorrow. And we did pretty well here in NH, though we didn’t replace the governor.

I like the friendly angled selfie and the look of your eyes. The other one looks a bit formal.

The other is more formal. The selfie is a bit blurry and I think I look angry… But, maybe not. And I do like the informal look.
Thanks :)

I prefer the angle of the selfie shot as it looks more natural to the one you use in your books and for publicity. I don’t wish to offend but it looks like a passport photo.

Yeah, the more informal shot does have a bit more character… Thanks.

It’s a bit blustery here as well. While I was unloading my groceries into the car, the cart nearly blew away! Personally, I’m partial to the larger photo. I think it’s more aesthetically pleasing than the photo that’s straight on. Gives you a little more mystery! Enjoy your week. Hope you stay well!

The wind seemed to bring to cold as well! It got cooled as the day moved on. Thanks. i might think about using the new photo… We’ll see.

Whenever you write about Cape Cod, Trent, it takes me back to my girlhood. I read a series of girlie books that were set there and I loved them. It sounds like you are having a nice time there. I like both photographs.

I do enjoy Cape Cod. I plan on moving here full time when I retire. I love New Hampshire as well, but there is something about the Cape…
I hope you are having a good weekend :)

I enjoy your coffee talks even when not much has happened in your week. Not much happened here either. Oh wait. Tuesday was the election and the candidate I worked for won! That was amazing. I should write a post about that…but I’m a little concerned to keep focusing on politics as I’ve already lost two friends because my politics are totally different than theirs and we didn’t realize it because we never talked politics. I hope they come back because I miss them, but if they don’t I guess they weren’t really friends. Still…I don’t want to rub salt in the wounds that their guy lost. So sad.

Politics is tricky… But if you are happy that a candidate that you didn’t just want to win but actually worked for won, I think that would be a great post. You don’t have to mention party or any of the issues, except, of course -your- issue. I do get it though. I think anyone reading my blog would know which party I voted for, but I never talk about it (except once I posted a photo I took of Hillary).

Your selfie is not silly at all! Try sticking out your tongue or pulling a “Spock: eyebrow. Either of the photos above would make good author photos. As for running, my knees haev had enought trauma when I was young. I stick to a brisk walk or exercise on the Gazelle. It does happen to be on my porch, but I don’t get very cold weathere here. Perhaps you could fit one in your house? I have found that I have more poinds these days, but if I do exercise regularly, I feel great and I will do the best with what God gave me, all the while enjoying good food and not starving myself. Have a great week, Trent! Please visit m “Dogiversary” Weekend Coffee Share! Ciao…

Besides making me feel better, I find I have to do a pretty intensive cardio-workout to keep my blood pressure under control. It inches up every day I don’t run. And I love running, I just need a little more time to recover. In the winter I wear the same clothes I wear when I cross-country ski….
I will stop by in a bit. “Dogiversary” edition of the Weekend Coffee Share intrigues me….
