Hello and Welcome! Come on in! It is actually pretty nice out there, though still a little damp. The day will get sunnier but cooler. Anyway, we’ll talk about that later. For now, I can get you a large mug of strong French/Sumatra Roast blend, a cuppa tea, hot cocoa or other beverage (if you are here in the afternoon we can negotiate something else. I know I had at least one request for mulled wine….). And where are we? You may recognize the synthesizer as being in New Hampshire.
It has been cold lately. For weeks it has averaged at least 10 degrees F below average, with some days being 20 F below average. There have been days at a time where it never got above freezing. For the most part it has been sunny, though. The ground is, of course, frozen, but we have much more water than I’ve ever seen because of our super wet earlier autumn. The ice was 5″ thick on my drive from the constant flow of water. I’ve never seen that. Yesterday the rain came. At 11 am it was 35 F, at 1 it was 65 F. A fog rolled in and all of the windows fogged up on the outside. After being outside, walking into the house was like walking into a refrigerator. But after it hit its peak, the temperatures are slowly sliding. For the next week we will be back to being 15 F below average instead of 20 F above.
Work was very busy this week. A few emergencies. I was on phone calls all day Monday, so my Weekly Smile was very rushed… And then everyone had to get everything done yesterday, so yesterday was crazy.
I did a lot of editing over the week. My next book is going to be two fantasy novellas. I also spent some time playing with the cover. It is a just a start, but I think I have something.
There was shopping and doing stuff like that. Other things that took time. Exercise, a doctors appointment, walking the dogs, playing with the dogs, taking care of cats, etc. That is, life continued last week.
That’s about it. I do want to get out and enjoy the warmer than usual weather while it is here. Thanks for visiting and having coffee (or whatever) with me! I hope you are enjoying your weekend. If you have a coffee share I will try to stop by.
The original Coffee Share kind of died out, but it has been revived! Eclectic Alli is hosting a coffee share. This week’s share is here. and the link up is here. Come on and join in! Hopefully we can bring it back to its former glory! (Note – it is coming back! A lot of people have rejoined and there are plenty of new faces :) ).
The coffee was perfect in your cold weather. Thank you! I’m amazed by the changes in temperature. It sounds like you had a busy week. I hope your weekend has been great! Merry Merry Christmas!

Hi Trent and thanks for the coffee. Forgive me for being a pain and always asking for something different. With the whole upheaval and shenanigans in France lately I have been looking up all sorts of newspapers and websites to try to understand what the world is heading for. Do you know anything about the IMF and what they’re about? I did not and looked it up here: https://www.imf.org/en/About Can we exchange views here, talk about things like that? I guess it’s bad manners in your country. It’s not in mine. I’ll understand if you turn me down with my outlandish requests… mulled wine, international monetary fund, yellow vests up rising etc. Oh! and may I ask? does Santa really exist???

We can do some exchanging of views, but you have to realize that I have very little time for it right now. I may be a little shorter than I would otherwise like to be, or plan on answering later and forgetting and never getting back (that one is the most likely!) If you don’t mind my slow and sometimes terse answers, sure :)
As to IMF, I know a little about them, but very little. What little I know I like, but I know thart a lot of people hate them – rich people and countries seem to feel they are stealing from them to give to the undeserving and poor people/countries and those who champion them often seem to think that there are too many strings attached and so it ends up just being the rich countries’ way of keeping the poor down. I don’t know how to answer either, but from the little I know, I think they do a good job under difficult circumstances.
Santa exists in our hearts, but… if he existed in the real world, we might not need the IMF ;)

The coffee share is always fun. I hope you do join in sometime :) Back int he Spring when it was brought back by Allison only a handful of people joined in, but there have been a few weeks that have seen as many as ever. To me, the more the better.

The weather here has been unseasonably warm and rainy. I am happy at least to see the sun today but I could stand a little cold and snow. It would feel much more like Christmas! I’ve never had mulled wine but it sounds interesting. Enjoy your holiday and stay warm!

The weather has just been weird all around this year. There is a very small chance of snow Christmas Eve, but I doubt if we’ll have a white Christmas up here. A cold one, though! Have a great week and hope your Holidays go well!

Thanks for coffee Trent. I didn’t realise that you had started you weekly smile again. I’ll try and join in sometimes at least. Sounds as though you have had and will have some more cold weather. Doesn’t sound as though the shovel has come out yet. Hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas.

Hi Irene. Yes, I restarted the Smile a couple of months ago and run it on Sunday mornings. I’m only doing the one post (post a Smile twice a week was one of the reasons I got burnt out on it!) and a recap of the others people have posted.
Late Fall, and now into Winter, has been cold. Early on we had one or two snow falls and then last week we had a little messy snow. Friday’s rain melted most of it – there are still bits here and there that used to be piles. But for the most part, except this last rain, it has been pretty dry over the last several weeks.
I hope you are enjoying your brother’s visit and have a great Christmas!

Thanks Trent. It is so easy to get burnt out when you are trying to reply and post and look – I know I just had to have a break toward the end of this year as it had become too much for me. I haven’t got quite as much on now as I did then so hopefully I will last longer. I’ll try and join in on occasions when I can find things to smile at (and hopefully that will be often). It is Xmas Day here now so wishing you and your family a very Happy Christmas. Cheers Irene

Hey Trent. I applaud how much writing you get done. I can do lots of words, but only in spurts and am impressed at how consistent you are. It’s been great getting to know you this year. Thanks for all the feedback and engagement we’ve had. You’re a busy guy and I hope you get some R&R as we stand ready for someone to fire the gun to start our race into 2019. Merry Christmas!

Thanks Gary. I do stay busy, but I like to fit a little writing, and this week editing, in as much as possible. I do have this week coming up off (possible longer….) so I should get a little rest in there. It was nice meeting you this year as well. I hope you have a Merry Christmas and a great week ahead :)

It’s crazy weird here too, but mostly just wet and dank and cold and miserable. We had that one day of sun, I remember it fondly. I can’t decide what to make for Christmas dinner, and here it is the Saturday before and I have no desire to go to the grocery store along with the hungry mob of people that actually DO know what they are there for. Maybe we’ll just skip Christmas dinner. I could make a soup out of leftover stuff…hmmmm….

Left over soup sounds good ;) Actually, when I was a kid, my mom made soup for Christmas Eve dinner. I’m not sure if she used leftovers or now….
I hope you see some sun soon! Have a great week ahead and a merry Christmas.

It sounds like you have been very busy, Trent. South Africa virtually shuts down except for retail for 15 December and the city of Johannesburg is fairly empty. It is actually a fairly good time to go shopping. I have manged to get mine done and just have my Christmas baking and food preparations to do tomorrow and Monday.

The week between Christmas and New Year is always slow, so I will do as little as possible ;) Of course, I will still run, walk the dogs, take hikes, write, etc. I don’t do down time well ;) My wife is baking today. I will make Christmas dinner, though. Hope your holidays go well :)

The weather has been very different this season. We haven’t been as freezing cold, yet anyway, and we don’t have as much snow.
I think you are very brave attempting to shop this close to Christmas. It is absolutely crazy at our mall and grocery stores. I try to avoid shopping as much as possibly this time of year, haha.
Thanks for coffee. Have a great week and happy holidays!

It has been an odd year all around weather-wise here. Just weird. The big storm a week or two ago went south of us, so we don’t have much snow, and most of it went away in the 65 degree rain! I am done with Christmas shopping, but I do need to make some runs out for other stuff. Yeah, I hate the crowds, but sometimes you have to face them.
Thanks for stopping by! Happy Holidays!
