Hello and Welcome! Come on in and I’ll get you a nice large mug of very strong French/Sumatra Roast blend, a cuppa tea or other drink. It is a nice day and will get quite warm (for early spring) later. Were are we? Some may recognize that photo as being in New Hampshire.
Well, it is finally spring here. I have seen several types of flowers, I saw a snake, bugs, osprey, etc. Spring! We’ve had a few cold days, but, hey, this is New Hampshire! We do not have warm early springs. Typically the heat stays on until late May when suddenly the leaves come out and late spring arrives. I’ll take these 62 F/ 17 C days for now.
Busy week at work. What’s new? I had a couple of after hours calls – never fun – but nothing major and easily fixed.
I have just started writing a new story. I’m not sure if it will be another novella (I’ve written a few this year) or will be my next book. I will have to put it on pause next week when I get back to my next book. I should get an edited version back on Monday and then I need to go through myself and see if I agree with said edits… And then I need to go through to see if anyone missed anything anywhere.
I stumbled (not literally) over a stack of old CDs that I never ripped onto my iTunes. Over the last few days I’ve ripped about a dozen. I plan on doing another dozen or two and then holding off. It is fun finding “old friends’ that I haven’t listened to over the last decade! I am also finding huge holes in my collection and am not sure if I need to fill them or not. Of course I still have about another 100 CDs that I haven’t touched or listened to in over a decade (not including the 2 dozen sitting at my computer waiting to be ripped). Do I really want to have Nirvana on my iTunes? I’m not sure. About 50 are late 20th century/early 21st century “classical”, like a handful of Tsontakis CDs. Do I need them since I am no longer composing 21st century classical music? Maybe… yes, I have over 25,000 “songs” on my iPod, were a “song” can be a well over an hour long piece of classical music. I hate Apple for getting rid of the iPod classic – I fill my 160 GB iPod and it has been at least 5 years since there has been a viable replacement. I would go broke paying for streaming from the cloud on all of my devices if I did 140 GB of music that listen to all of the time!
Wow, I have filled up this post and said nothing! And it is getting warmer outside and I need to get out of the house! Quick thanks to Dottie for bi-weekly massage (I’d be a stiff, sore mess without it) and I have to check out.
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed the rushed cup of coffee and continue to enjoy your weekend. If you have a coffee share, I’ll try to stop by – I often have problems hitting everything if people post after Sunday evening.
The original Coffee Share kind of died out, but it has been revived! Eclectic Alli is hosting a coffee share. This week’s share is here. and the link up is here.
The occasional light rambling can be theraputic.
I’m still trying to figure out how I missed this post.
I thought I had the coffee shares covered, but there was another one too so who knows what happened.
All the best.

Yeah, I often miss people’s posts – it’s just hard to keep up. And with the coffee posts, I keep up for the first day or two of it and then get behind….

I love discovering old c.ds that I haven’t listened to in a while. I would have let it wear a groove into my mind when I first bought it, especially if it’s something I love. So I’ll binge listen again repeatedly while driving to work. This recently happened with a Widespread Panic c.d. I think it was titled ‘Garfield.’ My favorites are something about the girl cooking in the diner, and Superstition. Great traveling music, but it helps take me away when I am on the way to work. Have a great week!

It is fun discovering old favorites. Earlier this year I listened to the “New Wave” station on Sirius XM for a couple of weeks, including to and from Cape Cod. Yeah, I got tiered of it after a while, but it was so cool revisiting that time period… The CDs I am now ripping stretch over a longer period than that, so it isn’t just one time and place, but it is still a lot of fun.
Hope you have a wonderful week!

It is a lot of work ripping your CDs onto all your devices. Now that I have a laptop, though, I do not even have that option. Definitely a downside.

You can get a USB external CD player for about 20 bucks if it is a huge deal. I thought I was done years ago, thinking all of the ones I missed were things I didn’t care about. I was wrong… Yeah a lot of work. I hope you had a good weekend :)

Currently I am using my husband’s PC. I still listen to music the old fashioned way with a CD player though 😄

I use a CD player in my exercise room. I have powered iPod speakers I use other places and I have Bose speakers on my home computer, so I just use iTunes off of the computer. Car is radio.

here’s to spring!!! wait you said you a snake? I hope it was not just outside, waiting in a snake-like way, I am not a huge fan of snakes and they creep me out in a major way.
I happen to have Nirvana ripped on my harddrive, wise investment I think and I just might gift it to someone whom I think needs re-education on now that’s what I call music volumes too.
Funny story the other day while cleaning out my stuff I found my old microsoft zune player and unfortunately I cant find the ZUNE software anywere and since I wiped out all the content on it there’s pretty much nothing I can do with it, cant even use it as a storage device with all its 64gig

The good thing is that snakes around here are pretty small and not poisonous. It’s a little unusual to see them as early in the season as I did (in March).
I occasionally come across old, useless devices. That’s the problem with technology – when you buy something, it is already obsolete. After a while they stop supporting old things and eventually they are just so much trash. Such a waste when the hardware itself can last for decades.
Hope you have a good week.

Ireland is low key one of my favourite places because I heard a legend about how St Patrick chased away all the snakes there and so the arent any…

It sounds like a different kind of weekend for you, so that’s usually good once in a while. Speaking of music, I still have dozens of 33 1/3 record albums that I plan to get onto CD’s —- someday. By the time I get that done, CD’s will probably even be hard to find. :)

I have a bunch of LPs around someplace. A few have never been available on CD or other digital format, so that old vinyl is the only way to hear it. Years ago I tried converting some of vinyl to digital was semi-successful. I would ether turn 8 songs into 2, or 8 songs into 52 – there was no in-between.
It was a slightly different weekend. I spent most of my time working around the house, which is typical, but a lot was spring stuff, which isn’t.

I have an iPod Touch and it’s so old I can’t even upgrade the OS! Thus, it will no longer sync to my iTune account so the music on there is captured forever.. :-)

I have an ancient iPod classic – they haven’t built anything with as much storage in almost a decade, so when it is gone my portable music is gone… but I do listen to iTunes when sitting at my computer.

My husband and I are still going through our CDs (and LPs) to decide what we want to rip and listen to, now that we have computers rather than stereo components. I inherited an uncle’s jazz CDs, and I get lost in listening to them. A type of music that I have enjoyed, but so many musicians that I had not known of before now. I wonder, will I have time to listen to any of the music twice, or will I choose to continue listening to the unfamiliar?
I hope that your new story develops to your satisfaction. Sometimes, they surprise one.

I do have a lot of jazz CDs, but most followed a pattern – I like someone which leads to someone else, etc. I’m sure I’d have a hard time if given CDs by dozens of people I’ve never heard of! I do sometimes listen to the Jazz station on the radio, so i do know mroe of the names than I used to.
When I rip a CD I listen to it right away. i then make sure I hear it at least one other time in the next week. SO I do get my two listens in ;) I often leave my iTunes on random and so get a taste of everything. In the car I try to listen to music i don’t know – I have been listening to a lot of Alt Rock lately, so I don’t have any of those CDs…
It is surprising the directions a story goes, particularly when you are a “pantser” like me.
Hope you are having a good weekend :)

I think spring is undoubtedly the best time of year. New beginnings … like your latest story.

Yes, new beginnings. I do like spring. That being said, I am very much an autumn person. Spring in New England is a little ugly – cod and muddy – autumn is gorgeous in all was imaginable.

Spring! I love this season. I’m thinking about the music part. I stopped buying CD’s in college. I do listen to a lot of music. I’ve tried both Pandora, and Spotify, the free versions, and the premiums. Right now I have Pandora premium, and I’m very happy with it. I think it’s worth the $5/month to not have commercials, and have access to any music I could possibly want. I think Pandora improved a lot lately. I particularly like that I can listen to my favorite stations off line as well. I hope you have a great weekend!

I started collecting CDs in the mid-1980s and continued until maybe 15 years ago, though in the early part of the 2000s I bought huge amounts of “classical” since I was studying it at the time. I still sometimes buy mp3s and on a very rare occasion a CD if there is no other way to get the music. I explored Pandora a little, but never got into it. With my 25,000+ “songs” in iTunes, I have access to a huge amount of music and can listen to what I am in the mood for. That being said ;) I do have Serius XM in my car. I only listen to music that I don’t have, so lately it has been all alternative – Alt Nation and XMU. I sometimes will go a on a Jazz binge (I do have a lot of jazz in my collection, but little from the last 20 years), but for now the alternative is great.
I hope you have a great weekend and a wonderful week ahead :)

My vote for the Nirvana is an absolute yay. just sayin’….

Yeah, most likely. For some reason I got rid of most of my “grunge” collection at the end of the 90s, but I kept the Nirvana. I also kept a lot of 90s Alt that wasn’t grunge – I got so sick of everyone saying they saved rock when I thought that just about every other band on the alt scene had more originality. Even Elvis Costello and Talking Heads from 1977/78 sound much fresher and newer today than grunge does – my opinion is they didn’t age well.

All that being said, they will make it to my ipod ;)

To me nostalgia is more Depeche Mode and The Cure ;) And prog rock, like Pink Floyd. For some reason I got rid of most of my “grunge” collection at the end of the 90s, but I kept Nirvana and will most likely add them.
