If We Were Having Coffee on the 20th of April, 2019

Hello and Welcome!  Come on in and I’ll get you a nice large dark roast mix or a cuppa tea or other beverage.  It is a very nice, on the warmish side (for date and location) and the sun keeps peaking out.  Where are we?  Some of you may have seen the photo at the top and know that it is a new one from Cape Cod.

It was busy week and I don’t remember much.  A lot happening at work.  I had a week up in NH, so a lot of work up there.  I did have massage, so that was good.  I got almost no writing or editing done – I’m so far behind!

Of course this was the week that Notre Dame burned, at least the roof and spire.  I did a post with about 20 photos I took during three different visits.

I have been sick the last few days.  I woke up Thursday with that achy tired feeling.  I tried to ignore it, but it was worse yesterday.  I was bale to sleep in today (7 AM…) so I feel a bit better.  I also had a nap after work yesterday, something I never do.

I drove down her last night.  There was a multi-car accident that looked awful.  It was maybe a minute or two minutes in front of me.  There was a lot of wood on the highway so I assume it came off a truck, someone swerved and was broadsided by another car or truck.  When I left home, I had forgotten something so back up and ran into the house.  It’s hard not to think that if I hadn’t misplaced my phone while doing the last walk through before leaving I might have been right where the accident happened….

Anyway, I have a huge amount on my schedule today, including being outside, sick or not.  You’ll excuse me while I slip out.  Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed the rushed cup of coffee and continue to enjoy your weekend.  If you have a coffee share, I’ll try to stop by – I often have problems hitting everything if people post after Sunday evening.

The original Coffee Share kind of died out, but it has been revived!  Eclectic Alli is hosting a coffee share.  This week’s share is here. and the link up is here.

Thank you for the hot coffee. I’m sitting at a hotel room right now, and the air conditioner is way too cold. Some hot coffee would be just perfect! I hope you’re feeling better. It’s no fun to be sick. it was sad what happened in Paris. We’re lucky to have seen it in person. Thanks again for the coffee, Have a fabulous Sunday!

Glad to hear that you are feeling better. Sometimes those random naps are just what is needed. I hope to get outside for a bit today to because I want to clean up the back garden and maybe rake a bit of the back lawn.

    Have a great day.

The fire at Notre Dame was a real tear-jerker, but I was happy so many people are willing to help rebuild it and it did not burn to the ground.

We have not been feeling well either and we keep thinking maybe it’s allergies, but I have a feeling it’s not allergies. I think something is going around.

One morning, on my way to work from Boston to Burlington, shortly after I got onto 95, there was an accident directly ahead of me. A car sideswiped a truck and the truck swerved to get out the way and hit an SUV which rolled over — and started to slide, at high speed, upside down towards me. it stopped inches from my car. I couldn’t back up (traffic). All I could do was wait and wonder if this was it.

Those moments — and I’ve had a few — make you think about how close we can come to being gone — and yet, we are here.

    Feel better.

I think there is something going around and it is more than allergies – from the beginning this has followed a similar trajectory as a flu – waking up achy and bone tired, later getting the stuffy head, not able to think, slowly moving to throat and then, now chest – yuck. But that means (I hope) that it is almost done.

It seems like everyone has had at least a couple of very close calls, like once I changed lanes and a second later a car came sliding sidewards down the lane I just vacated… I’m not sure what happened on 495 the other night – the only thing I can find was that at that time they closed that section of highway because of a downed power line, but no mention of the accident that involved several vehicles and a huge amount of wood all over the road….

It is amazing how much was saved with Notre Dame. Also interesting that the money raised had a spill over and people donated a lot to the black churches that were burned a few weeks ago.

Thanks, I hope you feel better as well.

I’ve just had a cup of tea before dropping in so don’t worry about the coffee. Sorry you’re unwell but glad to hear you missed the accident. There’s a nasty flu going around here but I’ve so far managed to dodge it. There are advantages to being unsociable. 😉

I’m unsocial, but my wife has a contract in a germ factory, uhm, I mean a school…. I guess a lot of people have been sick. I never get sick, so it is very difficult for me to know how to behave ;)

I hope you are doing well. I know your weekend is about over, so I hope you have a wonderful week.

Thanks Corina. A little nap this afternoon and I’m a bit better, so hopefully it will be over soon. There is no knowing how close I would have been if I didn’t go back, but it is scary to think about. I have made almost random decisions only to have it save me from a terrible accident, like the other car sliding side wards where I was two seconds before, so this wasn’t quite that close… I hope you are having a good weekend :)

Thanks Gary. Yeah, I’m a little better, but the cold has dropped into my chest. It is very sad – the accident looked very bad. I can’t find it on Google, which is odd – I think it started when a shed fell off the back of a truck in three lanes of heavy traffic going 80. There was wood everywhere.

Yep, I’m sure everyone who saw it decided to try to drive a little safer.

Hope your weekend is going well.

Thanks, Willow. It has gone from more of a head cold to a chest cold… It is scary to think about it. Of course, with this one it is impossible to say if the delay saved me, but there have been times when I did something out of the blue and a couple of seconds later I would have been in an accident if I hadn’t.

Thanks for stopping by :) I hope your weekend is going well.

Still sipping my java as you rushed away amigo- hah
    And hope you feel
    Better soon.
    – also / the accident you barely missed is chlling to think about –
A few months ago – I was taking with someone and stayed a few extra minutes – in an investment in them – left and saw someone getting a ticket and it is an area that slows to 25 and well – I am pretty alert but – well – I never see officers there and the one night in two years there was one -giving out tickets – I feel
Like it could have been me – so glad it was not – but also felt bad for who did get the ticket

I know, as soon as people get comfortable, I rush right out ;)

I have had a handful of “lucky” misses, both with tickets and accidents. Like deciding out of the blue to slow down to the speed limit, going around a corner and there’s the police car… Also with accidents. The closest was most likely as a college student driving across the country. I hit a squall and my traction didn’t feel quite right so I put on the breaks and dropped to the right lane. Two seconds later two cars collided in front of me and passed by on either side – I threaded the needle… If I didn’t slow down, I would have been in the middle and if I didn’t change lanes I would have smacked into the car in the left lane. Scary…

Anyway, thanks for stopping by, even if I did rush out. Hope you are have a great weekend :)

Oh that is a good idea – and have to note that it will only be the ones you are aware of! I once heard a guy say he saw a lady almost get slammed into at a red light – she pulled away never knowing how close it was – and I think there are times God wants us to know – other times he just protects and we are clueless – ;6
