Note – I have not been getting pingbacks. If you join, please leave a link in the comments. Sorry for the inconvenience.
I have several good smiles this week, but decided to go a little silly :)
I have worn my hair pretty long for a guy in the US pretty much my entire life. There were times it was shorter, but for the most part long. This has been a busy spring, so I went 11 weeks between haircuts. My hair was getting a bit shaggy… It has been longer in the back in recent memory, but not the bangs or the sides.
Here is a “Before” photo:
So I had a haircut on Saturday. Here is the “After” photo:
Not that short, but not looking like Beethoven ;)
It is funny, half of the people I have showed these photos to like the “Before” better. Maybe some day I’ll keep it long… Which do you prefer?
My smile is about being better groomed :) but also about the fun I had with the photos.
What made you smile?
****
Come on, I’m sure you smiled at least once last week. Why don’t you share it? I hope you can join in!
Here is list of “rules” and guiding ideas. If you don’t have time to read it right now, just remember that this is an exercise to spread positivity. Don’t smile about the misfortune of others. Don’t smile in a way to excludes others. Make sure a 12 year old can read it.
And remember, the Smile can be anything, large or small. Nothing, nothing at all is too small for a Smile! Sometimes taking time to notice those small, every day smiles is more important than those once in a lifetime huge ones :)
To join in, write a post to share your smile and then leave a comment on this post with a link to your smile. Or, if you prefer, do a pingback to this post (pingback = have a link from your post to this one). You can post any time until next Sunday evening (to be simple, I will say midnight GMT, which is 7 PM Sunday for me). Next week I will compile all of the Smiles and do a separate post of them on Monday morning just before the smile. (I will shoot for around 7 AM EST).
Try to use the hashtag #WeeklySmile when you use Twitter or other social media that uses hashtags. I searched Twitter and found that #weeklysmile had been used only a handful of times back in 2012 and 2013. It hasn’t been used since. So it’s ours! I also registered it on Twubs.
You can use the graphic at the top. It is the official graphic for the event.
Now go out there and find something to smile about! :)

“There are days I go in search of the kind, compassionate, loving and beautiful. Despite what we sometimes see on the news, FB and elsewhere, there is much more beauty in the world than ugliness, much more kindness than hate or cruelty. Perhaps we should all have a goal to make at least one person smile every day.”
I don’t know what happened to mine, but here it is for last week. https://tessacandoit.com/2019/05/07/the-weekly-smile-05-07-2019-weeklysmile-love-my-new-leggings/

Thanks for the reminder that I need a haircut … and you look pleased with the result. Our daily world is loud and full of anger, so I always smile when I hear the good stories – the good news of good people stepping up and doing good things.

Actually, I hate getting haircuts, but had to smile ;) Yes, there is a lot of darkness out there. Not sure if a few smiles can help, but I do have to try :)

I like before. You looked like a musician or at least someone with a creative spirit. the new haircut is pretty sharp. Like a politician or banker :)
Just joking :)

I hope the “just joking” was about looking like a banker or a politician in the “after” photo and not about looking like a rock star in the “before” ;) lol, ok, you said a musician or a creative spirit, not a rock star, but I can read it the way I want. I hate getting a hair cut, so I’m sure it will be like the “before” photo some time later this year.

Both styles look great, but not everyone can pull off the long hair! Here is my submission for my weekly smile(s)!

That’s so weird! I’ve been hearing from others that my comments weren’t showing up, either…so strange…

Word Press did some updates over the last couple of weeks. It seems that every time they do updates there are always some odd quirks for a while.

I have always liked men with long hair, especially the rock stars, theirs was longer than mine lol.

My hair was longer than a few women I know, but not quite ’70s rock star long ;)

My brother’s is still 70’s rock star long and he’s almost 60 now.

Part of that generation… I know a few people like that, including some relatives. I have a cousin who I think is pushing 70 that has hair like that. If you can still get away with at, go for it!

I think both cuts look good on you which is lucky….because when you’re busy you can just let it go long again! Here’s this week’s smile post: https://dawnkinster.com/2019/05/06/spring-finally-fights-off-the-winter-blues/

WP has been acting strange for the last few weeks. And I don’t like their update (usually acts strange when there is an update) – they assume everyone uses a phone and make it hard for computer users.

How serendipitous – this week I also posted the “rules” again for my challenge All Seasons (Sun-Fri – welcome to participate!)
I like both the long and short hair style. but the “long” is not ultra long to me (ultra long would be till half on your back). Nice that both look good on you!

Thanks. About to my shoulder is my limit and I’ve reached it a few times recently, but it hasn’t “poofed out” the way it did this time – the sides and banks are usually shorter.
I will check out your challenge. The name sounds familiar so I’m sure I saw it.

Nice haircut Trent, but I do like it longer too – I think you’re right about the generational thing :-) Here’s my link to this week’s smile incase of more misbehaving pingbacks:

Thanks Ruth. I do know some young people who like long hair on guys, but, yeah, very much a generational thing. I haven’t seen any ping backs today, so I’m assuming they still aren’t working. Will go check out your smile in a few minuets :)

I have to say I like the after photo💜. I have always like men with long hair probably because it is of my era.💜

Most of the people who liked the before, with my shaggy hair, were in their 50s or 60s, so a generational thing there. Though, of course, some people like the well groomed, even if shorter, version :)

A vote for post-haircut… Some dogs are amazing with their ability to communicate. They are smart and easily figure out what we understand.

So true! Mine knows just what time I like to be taken for a walk 😊
LikeLiked by 1 person
Speaking of that, mine are in my office whining at me right now. I guess it is time for my walk… (I usually walk at 9, so I’m not sure why they started to bug me at around 7:30 today. It is 8:30 now, but I’ve been busy)

Mine seems to know way ahead of time when my walk is due, he starts staring at me at least a half hour too soon. He doesn’t mind that Im busy.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Yep, sounds typical :) Mine did have a nice walk, and I was OK with the early break.
