I used to do a lot of photo posts, but haven’t put many up recently. I have literally thousands of photos from 2018 and early 2019 that I have not even looked at let alone sorted and edited! over the last week I broke down and looked at the last few.
I spent the last week of June on Cape Cod. I worked half of the week and entertain guests, so I didn’t take a lot of photos that I can post, but there are a few, like this photo of my nephew fishing.
Just after that photo was taken, a seal came up. Remember, we were well over a mile up the Bass River, which is still salt and tidal at this point, but far from the ocean.
The next week, the first week of July, I visited family in Ohio. I did a few things, like visit Lake Erie (here is a beach).
I did a guided canoe paddle in an estuary, Old Woman’s Creek and saw a few birds and other things.
And then last week I was on Cape Cod again. i did work while I was down there, but had time to get out in the kayak and do some other things. One cool part was watching two immature red tailed hawks hunting together (see photo at top of the post). Well, maybe not “together”, since they didn’t get along when they got too close.
back in NH I took some photos of my backyard garden. The hummingbirds like it, though so far I haven’t been able to get a great photo.
Here is a selection of pictures. As always, click on a photo to get more detail. Once a photo is enlarged, you can scroll through all of them.
Great shots. The hawk fight is amazing….

These are really great photos, Trent. I especially like the one of the eagle and it’s not just because it’s my favorite bird. And the one with the two hawks is really amazing.

Thanks. eagles are cool. I usually get more/better shots when i visit my family in Ohio, but any time I get to see them at all makes me happy. Watching the hawk fight was cool – last year I saw a fight between two immature bald eagles and actually got several pretty good photos. It wasn’t until later when looking at the photos that I realized that one had a fish and the other was trying to take it away.

wonderful – and it was a good idea to do the smaller collage for the second half – made it more digestible

Thanks. I typically post a small sample of photos in my photo-posts and then the collage at the bottom – if someone wants to see more detail, they can bring any of them up, but if not, they will see some of the better pictures any way.

Yes – I have seen you do this before – and maybe it subtly led me to doing the slideshow for some of mine (a few other bloggers have nice ways of giving a good amount of photos without overwhelming and it works)
But I also just wanted to mention how much it worked again today – this time I chose not to see the close ups but I have had times of clicking to see the larger versions. – but today got just what I needed without that…

Thanks. I have experimented with the slideshow and didn’t like it as much (or didn’t feel like changing my ways).

yeah – stick to your ways and what feels like your style (which kinda ties into what i wrote in my last comment – it is so nice to have a comfort zone – eh?) and so don’t change ways if it is already working welll

Truly remarkable pictures! I’m so impressed! I hope that little tornado (not so little if it hit your home!) didn’t get to you. I was just watching it and seeing how much damage it did on the cape.

Thanks! Another Olympus OMD user. I wasn’t planning on going down to the Cape until next week, but I think I’ll have to drive down tomorrow evening… I do know a person or two who might be able to at least tell me if there is a tree sitting on the house….

BEAUTIFUL photos! Photography is so much fun and you are very good and I loved them all especially since they were taken where I don’t live. Seeing the world through someone else’s lens is a wonderful experience! Thank you for sharing! 😀🥰

Thanks! I really enjoy photography but haven’t been able to spend as much time with it as I’d like. I also like looking at other parts of the world through people’s lenses, particularly if it is someone that I know, or at least know from the blog, like Maria’s wonderful desert photos.

Yes, Maria’s photos and blog are AMAZING! I agree, she really brings you to that place in the desert. I’ve met such wonderful people here and it’s been a joy getting to know you all! 😀

In love with the hawks and egrets! Favorite, I think, is the photo of the waves on Lake Erie. I do love the sound and the feel of waves. Enjoyed the variety of subjects! Turkey! The seal reminded me, for some reason, of the muskrats, back home. Although I suppose they’re more like beavers than seals. :D Thanks so much for sharing!

I almost posted a muskrat photo! Maybe I will go back and put it up… Yeah, muskrat are kind of like small beavers with round tails… The waves were cool. They look a little different than ocean waves since ocean waves are salt water. But the splashes where still spectacular! Thanks :)

Wow, are these all yours?! The bird ones, specially, are fascinating. Beautiful work here :)

Thanks! I do really love photography, particularly the birds, though I’m not a “birder”. I had to double check with a birder friend that those hawks really were immature red tails hawks and not some other variety (adults are easy to tell – they have red tails ;) )

Oh, Trent, beautiful shots!!!! Bet it was great fun photographing those hawks and well the seal encounter must have been something! :-)

Thanks! The hawks were very cool. Last year I saw two young eagles fighting over a fish – that was very cool! I did like seeing the seal, but it was quite a distance away. I’ve had them come up pretty close while kayaking – that is an experience.

By the way… forgot to say “meghiá’ [greek for ‘with health’], something we say here when someone gets something new …like a haircut! ;-)

I’m not sure of the proper response to “meghiá”, so you’ll just have to take my American response: Thanks!

Wow! The two hawks are AMAZING! So cool you caught that. I’d love to take a canoe tour of an estuary, love the blue heron too, I haven’t gotten a real good photo of one of those, OR of a hummingbird! Still trying though. Glad you shared all of these with us!

Thanks! Watching the two hawks was very cool. If you are ever down in that area, not far from Sandusky (Cedar Point ;) ) you should look up Old Woman’s Creek. I’ve gotten some fantastic photos in the past just on the boardwalk, including Great Blues, eagles, etc. The canoe trip was well worth it, but just walking there is great – maybe not worth a three hour drive, but if you are in the area :)

These are all great photographs, Trent. Hummingbirds move their wings so fast, that is probably why its hard to get a good photograph.

Thanks, Robbie. I did play with some settings on the camera to get a better hummingbird shot, and of course haven’t seen one since ;)
