Some of you who read my blog may know that I spend a lot of time on Cape Cod. I just bought a fixer upper house and am in the process of selling a cottage. So I have been down here quite a bit. The dogs usually come but not the cats. Until now.
Albert has always had issues. He is getting older, though not ancient for a cat. He has three legs. He is FIV positive. Other things (read about Albert here) It seems that every time we have come to the Cape we return to a sick Albert. The last time it was a very, very sick Albert, one I thought was going to die within hours.
But he didn’t.
Albert bounced back (after vet visit and a lot of care…). But a decision has been made – when we go away for more than a few days, Albert comes.
Albert doesn’t like the three hour car ride, but he loves being here. He curls up by my feet when I am on the computer. I gets in my lap. He sleeps by me. He feels special. He has been very happy and has shown it. He looks as health as he has in years.
That is my smile for this week: having our cat Albert on Cape Cod with us.
What made you smile?
****
Come on, I’m sure you smiled at least once last week. Why don’t you share it? I hope you can join in!
Here is list of “rules” and guiding ideas. If you don’t have time to read it right now, just remember that this is an exercise to spread positivity. Don’t smile about the misfortune of others. Don’t smile in a way to excludes others. Make sure a 12 year old can read it.
And remember, the Smile can be anything, large or small. Nothing, nothing at all is too small for a Smile! Sometimes taking time to notice those small, every day smiles is more important than those once in a lifetime huge ones :)
To join in, write a post to share your smile and then leave a comment on this post with a link to your smile. Or, if you prefer, do a pingback to this post (pingback = have a link from your post to this one) (Note – pingbacks have been very inconsistent – please leave a comment :) ). You can post any time until next Sunday evening (to be simple, I will say midnight GMT, which is 7 PM Sunday for me). Next week I will compile all of the Smiles and do a separate post of them on Monday morning just before the smile. (I will shoot for around 7 AM EST).
Try to use the hashtag #WeeklySmile when you use Twitter or other social media that uses hashtags. I searched Twitter and found that #weeklysmile had been used only a handful of times back in 2012 and 2013. It hasn’t been used since. So it’s ours! I also registered it on Twubs.
You can use the graphic at the top. It is the official graphic for the event.
Now go out there and find something to smile about! :)

I finalised the changes for my new book, Through the Nethergate, Trent, and that made me smile [with relief].

Albert makes me smile. I love his little heart-shaped nose. I’m so glad that Albert has bounced back and enjoying his time at Cape Cod. Poor you though. I can just imagine the unhappy clamour from Albert in the car for 3 hours. Theo doesn’t handle the 15 minute drive to the vet gracefully.

Albert wasn’t too bad traveling. This is his second trip down here in the last month, but he was very sick on the first one – if we didn’t take him that time, I doubt if he would have been alive when we got home. He would complain on occasion, let me know he was unhappy, but would quiet down after a few minutes. He is a great cat :)

What a beauty and I love his expression in that photo- wide eyed! Shows what a little special time can do for the soul- human or not.

That is an older photo but he looks closer to that photo now than he has in many weeks! Special time with “family”, furry or not, is good for the soul.

Albert is a handsome fellow… He has more personality than any cat I’ve ever seen.

Albert is one handsome fellow! He does look quite spry and healthy! I hope he stays that way, Trent.

Thanks, Penny. Unfortunately, both of those photos are a older. He’s not quite as spry now, but looks a heck of a lot better tan he did three weeks ago! And he still has a ton of personality :)
