Hello and Welcome! Come on in and I’ll get you a very strong dark roast, a cuppa tea or other beverage. It’s a little nippy out, so a warm beverage will be good. Nippy, but gorgeous – I woke up to rain, but it is now a beautiful autumn day. Yeah the calendar says summer and there is only a little color in the trees, but it feels like fall. Oh, and where are we? Some my recognize that photo as being from New Hampshire.
I returned to reality, I mean work, this week,. Ugh. When can I retire? ;) It wasn’t as bad as I feared, but I am still behind.
I did some of my normal walking and playing with the dogs – they wanted to play, not walk on most of our excursions. I ran, exercised, had massage, ect. A typical week.
I spent a lot of time doing a rewrite of my book The Old Mill. Some of you may remember it since I posted it one chapter at a time as I wrote it. I made all of the posts private, so you can’t read them. I have decided to make it in 3rd person, not 1st. I have also added quite a few chapters. Anyway, the second draft will be a lot different from the first, if not a total rewrite.
This is going to be pretty short because I need to get out of the house. I have several chores, but also want to enjoy the great outdoors.
Thanks for stopping by! I’ll try to hit some coffee shares later this weekend.
The Weekend Coffee share is hosted by Eclectic Ali . This week’s share is here. and the link up is here.
Thanks for the coffee, I’m sorry I’m a little late. I don’t know where this weekend went. It was fabulous, just disappeared so fast. We had dinner guests on Saturday, and went to the mountains yesterday – voila weekend gone..LOL. I hope your new week got a great start!

The week has started well, but I’ve been busy as well. There is never enough time ;) I’m glad you made to the mountains! I hope you have a great week.

Sounds like you had a good week! Retirement isn’t as luxurious as it’s billed to be. My chore for this week, and probably the next is to weedle through clothes closet/dressers and sort out for charity and keeps. We should hear tomorrow if we got our first choice for moving…townhome… I seriously HOPE we get it! It’s perfect…and, there won’t be anyone over us to trigger my PTSD. Our second choice is a third floor just up the street from where we currently are. There is a third choice, but I really, really don’t want to have to take that option. Any way we look at it, we have to be somewhere by the end of October when our lease expires. No way in hell I’m going to pay gas for the whole building! Anyway, it does indeed feel like autumn. there’s a crisp chill to the morning air, birds are starting to make their way south, kids are back in school… Hope you get your chores done, and have a better week at work next week. Shalom, Bear

Most chores are done, but still more to go. From what I see and the people I know who have retired, a lot of it is what you’ve put into it before hand. Technically I can retire in a year, but I am not prepared, even if I am prepared to stop working ;) I hope your first option comes through for you! Good luck on it! I hope your week goes well.

The Old Mill sounds like it is coming along quite well…
and it felt like Fall around here too – I was shocked at how much I felt it –
but then had a blast of summer for a little while – with heat and flowers needing water.
((and tea for me today….))

Some tea coming up.
It’ still very early in the drafting process with The Old Mill, but I’m pleased so far. We have been getting up into the 70s, with a few days close to 80 and another 80 degree this coming week, but nights have been in the low 50s, even into the upper 40s. Typical mid-to-late-September…
I hope you are having a great weekend and have a good week ahead :)

things going pretty good over here T
and did you know that I have a cape cod mug?
think it was on clearance at TJmaxx one a couple years ago –
I actually did not know it was cape code – I grabbed it with 4th of July items and wanted it for a work mug because it was a huge size – and could make a nice cup of tea (or for coffee) think it is 18 oz
—
anyhow, just so happens I burned my finger on it today – and then come here for coffee chat
(love the timing)
but it reminds me how not all ceramic mugs are created equal and I should have left this cheap mug at work.
because it is the kind of ceramic where the handle gets to hot after heating it – and I know – I should not have used the microwave anyway – but I did and now that mug will be leaving this kitchen (if it was a good one I’d offer to hold it for ya – just in case you needed a new Cape Cod mug down the road)
my favs are porcelain or even glass….
what about you – what is your favorite or does I not matter that much

Funny that you have a Cape Cod mug, not funny that it is so cheap ;) Although I drink tea in my porcelain coffee mugs, but I prefer bone china – it tastes better. Coffee is good in china as well, but I usually use mugs – like the ones I post on my coffee shares. During the week in NH ( typically use Pink Floyd mugs that are black and only show the picture when hot. I think it’s a cheap gimmick, but my good Pink Floyd mug was broken, so….

well not all porcelain is created equal and I do like bone china too (just broke one from a set and it is fine – but a little bummed – hard to replace – but do not really need to replace it either)
and I love those mugs that show the art or logo when the temp is hot – my son had a couple a while back – fun – and good to use if the other one broke
:)

The first “magic mug” that I saw was one someone gave to my dad. He was on a Dr. Who kick back, I think early 90s, maybe late 80s. The Tardis appeared and disappeared depending on the hot liquid inside. It was super clever.

yes – and maybe found at stores like Spencer gifts.
and I hope to get caught up into Dr Who sometime
I tried twice and it never worked for me

Yeah, my dad was into the shows from the 60s and early 70s, which was very different than the way it has grown since then! And it was only on PBS, so the mug was bought from the PBS store. When you are talking quality, my Pink Floyd mugs that do that never get put into the microwave. I don’t tust it. If I microwave a mug, I only use the McDonald’s Pub mug that sometimes shows up in Coffee Share – it is 35 years old and still looks new. Or they – I still have 2 of them, though I’m nto sure where one is. My brother has another (my mom gave it to him in the late 80s when I left and she thought it was his) and I have no idea where the 4th went, only that I know it’s not broken – they are tougher than granite ;)

wow – that is old and sturdy! tough for sure
and mugs like this are cool – with the stories and memories.
I think I shared a while back that we used our friend’s lakehouse for some years (it sat empty because his wife passed away and the new wife didn’t;t care for the place) so we had about four years there – and the mugs and logo’d plastic cup collection – what a hoot
I bet they had memories with each one
—
anyhow, I do know that one from coffee share and no microwave for sure

It is funny how things like mugs have their stories….

Best of luck on the rewrite! I am sure it’s no small undertaking. Have a great week!

Thanks. It is a big project, but once I got going, it’s actually pretty fun. I like writing better than editing, so this has allowed me to write ;) I hope you are having a great weekend.

Thanks for the coffee! And work, I try not to think about retirement as it’s a ways off for me, but I am looking forward to that time!! Sounds like you had a busy week. I did read about how you are re-working your book and I find it very interesting. To me that sounds like “work” but when it’s your passion I know it’s not really work. I hope it all falls into place for you like you want it too! Have a great weekend!! 😃♥️

I want a job were I can sit around and think of new ideas all day. They can be as technical as people want. I can work out the details and give it to someoone else, perhaps an engineer, to make it actually, work, my job would be just to come up with the ideas. That’s what I want to do when I grow up ;) Well, writing is as close as I can get, and until I can make a living doing it, I have to do my normal day job. Actually, I do have engineers do all the hard work for me, but the work I have to do is still tiring…. Have a great weekend :)

I love this time of year, it’s a pretty cool morning here too. I figure I have about 20 years to retirement, but I know it will come so fast. Enjoy every day!

Autumn is my favorite time of year. Cool mornings are fine, I just need to remember to close the windows before going to bed ;) Technically I can do an early retirement in a year, but in reality it will be a while. Have a great weekend!
