Today is the official start of Autumn. Seems odd since the temperature will almost reach 90 F/ 32 C.
A friend of mine in town threw a surprise birthday part for her boyfriend yesterday. They both have adult children, so the kids were all there. He had been a firefighter in NYC, so some of his NYC friends came up for the event. A lot of people from the neighborhood showed up. It was a good crowd.
I am a complete and total Introvert and have a hard time at parties if I don’t know many people, but it was still fun. It was also nice to see how touched he was that everyone came by.
That was my smile for the week, attending a surprise birthday party.
What made you smile?
****
Come on, I’m sure you smiled at least once last week. Why don’t you share it? I hope you can join in!
Here is list of “rules” and guiding ideas. If you don’t have time to read it right now, just remember that this is an exercise to spread positivity. Don’t smile about the misfortune of others. Don’t smile in a way to excludes others. Make sure a 12 year old can read it.
And remember, the Smile can be anything, large or small. Nothing, nothing at all is too small for a Smile! Sometimes taking time to notice those small, every day smiles is more important than those once in a lifetime huge ones :)
To join in, write a post to share your smile and then leave a comment on this post with a link to your smile. Or, if you prefer, do a pingback to this post (pingback = have a link from your post to this one) (Note – pingbacks have been very inconsistent – please leave a comment :) ). You can post any time until next Sunday evening (to be simple, I will say midnight GMT, which is 7 PM Sunday for me). Next week I will compile all of the Smiles and do a separate post of them on Monday morning just before the smile. (I will shoot for around 7 AM EST).
Try to use the hashtag #WeeklySmile when you use Twitter or other social media that uses hashtags. I searched Twitter and found that #weeklysmile had been used only a handful of times back in 2012 and 2013. It hasn’t been used since. So it’s ours! I also registered it on Twubs.
You can use the graphic at the top. It is the official graphic for the event.
Now go out there and find something to smile about! :)
You made me smile just by stepping outside your own comfort zone by supporting your friend & attending the party. 😊

Being surrounded surround by strangers is not always an easy thing for an introvert, but well worth it. Thanks! :)

Glad the party worked out and that they valued the folks making the effort to come – sounds like good people ;)
And worth a few smiles ;)

As a fellow empathetic introvert, I’m so glad you enjoyed the party. My smile today was lunch with a friend at a cafe themed to the Narnia series. :)

In a world centered around large scale socialization, the life of an introvert can be difficult, but as long as there are nerd themed cafes out there that allow quiet lunches with a friend, then life is good. I hope you are doing well – haven’t seen you around lately.

It’s always a happy experience to help someone celebrate the life of a loved one. Glad you got to be a part of that this week. Here’s my smile for this week as well:

I get it. A person there was joking with his wife if it would be considered justification for homicide, but I wouldn’t go quite that far ;)

Here is my smile at all those memories that come to me on walks. They keep me company.

I often use walks to write stories, but all of those memories are good too… Will be over in a minute to take a look.
