I often say the Weekly Smile can be about small things, and again I am going to prove it ;)
After a cool start to September, we have had a warm spell the last week or so. This weekend was totally gorgeous. I didn’t do anything special. I didn’t go hiking in the mountains or anything like that, but I did spend a lot of time outside enjoying it. I walked around our little village, both with the dogs and on my own. I “scampered” through the woods behind my house, playing with the dogs. I took a long walk in a wooded area on the edge of town – just a few feet in and it was like being a million miles from civilization. I sat outside and enjoyed the day. And, well, I just spent as much time as possible out of doors.
Being outside really helps me. I spend my work days behind a computer, so I need that “large screen” of the sky and the “high definition” of reality. It does wonders!
Spending most of my weekend outside is my smile for this week.
What made you smile?
****
Come on, I’m sure you smiled at least once last week. Why don’t you share it? I hope you can join in!
Here is list of “rules” and guiding ideas. If you don’t have time to read it right now, just remember that this is an exercise to spread positivity. Don’t smile about the misfortune of others. Don’t smile in a way to excludes others. Make sure a 12 year old can read it.
And remember, the Smile can be anything, large or small. Nothing, nothing at all is too small for a Smile! Sometimes taking time to notice those small, every day smiles is more important than those once in a lifetime huge ones :)
To join in, write a post to share your smile and then leave a comment on this post with a link to your smile. Or, if you prefer, do a pingback to this post (pingback = have a link from your post to this one) (Note – pingbacks have been very inconsistent – please leave a comment :) ). You can post any time until next Sunday evening (to be simple, I will say midnight GMT, which is 7 PM Sunday for me). Next week I will compile all of the Smiles and do a separate post of them on Monday morning just before the smile. (I will shoot for around 7 AM EST).
Try to use the hashtag #WeeklySmile when you use Twitter or other social media that uses hashtags. I searched Twitter and found that #weeklysmile had been used only a handful of times back in 2012 and 2013. It hasn’t been used since. So it’s ours! I also registered it on Twubs.
You can use the graphic at the top. It is the official graphic for the event.
Now go out there and find something to smile about! :)

The outdoors are great. I think too few people really appreciate time in the fresh air. I will take a look at your smile soon :)

I love the line “I spend my work days behind a computer, so I need that “large screen” of the sky and the “high definition” of reality. It does wonders!” It says it all for me too … and I don’t work all day behind a computer screen 🙂

I’m sure I would feel exactly the same if I didn’t sit behind a computer as well. If I could spend all day outside, I would :)

That sounds just perfect! I love when it’s possible to just step outside and enjoy, uncomplicated relaxation. I imagine your weekend was perfect, definitely something to smile about.

The weather was just perfect all weekend. This is my favorite time of year, and when it is like that, it is a huge smile :)

When we moved here, we definitely bought this house for the view of the trees and the sky. so when I look up from the computer, I get jolted into the “real “world:) So relaxing! But the smile this week is the meeting of the (artistic) minds. Even though I wasn’t able to talk to them, seeing someone do art, always brings a smile:)

The view out of my home office window is into the woods, so I am with you there. Watching others being creative often inspires me to bring out my creative side…

Not a problem. You linked to the blog itself, but that doesn’t leave a pingback. Easily fixed :)

Our weather is still hot and Wednesday will be in the 90’s again. Enjoy it while you can. Winter can be brutal that is if it ever gets cold. This has been weird temperatures. Here’s my smile.

Still in the 90s? Wow. Just a strange year all around – they are getting hammered with snow in places in the upper midwest! I’ll be over to check out your smile soon :)

Yes it has been and apparently will continue to be for a while, very hot.

The last two days for us were rainy, but I enjoyed them, but those rains have stopped. I need that large screen of the sky as well and plan to go to the botanic garden today.

I hope you do have some nice weather for your outing to the botanic garden. The “weeds” in your photo, though, were pretty, if perhaps sneeze inducing in some people ;)

Something to smile about? Hmm. Okay. The gorgeous Fall weather around my area. The changing of the tree leaves into gold, burnt umber, brown, red, orange. Yes, those bring a big smile! :)

Kind of funny, this area is known for its beautiful fall colors, but so far this year we haven’t really seen any. Glad you are getting good foliage.
