Hello and Welcome! Come on in and I’ll get a nice large mug of a very strong dark roast, a cuppa tea or other beverage. It is still very cool out, but it looks to be a beautiful autumn day. Where are we? The photo at the top is newish, but you may know that rock wall as being in New Hampshire. And we have color at last! Here is a phone picture I just took from my kitchen window.
It was a good week. I worked on Tuesday, half a day Wednesday and Friday. Yes, super busy those days, but I had half the week off!
I drove to Cape Cod on Saturday evening and came back tot New Hampshire Thursday afternoon. I had to meet a contractor on Wednesday and I did a lot of work on the new house. I also did a very long kayak paddle as featured in my weekly smile. I walked on the beach and in the woods. And, well, did things I do on the Cape.
I think I told you about the wind storm and tornado a month or so ago. Well, a couple of days before I came down there was a tropical storm that moved off the coast shortly before I arrived. And then, this Wednesday night into Thursday there was a major coastal storm. I later heard that over night there were winds at over 90 mph (145 kph). I believe it – there were a lot of trees and large branches down. And on Thursday the sustained winds were 35 – 55 mph with gusts up to 70 (55 – 90 kph, gusts to 115 kph). It was windy! (between cat 1 and cat 2 hurricane force over night and tropical storm during the day). I heard that there were 30 foot waves on the ocean. I did witness 4 foot waves on Bass River! No kayaking. About this photo – I hate my phoe’s camera because everything is so distorted – just as the hill in the photo above is actually pretty close and towers over me, the waves in this photo are huge.
OK, so back on Friday and I wore a turtleneck for the first time! If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you may know that I will turtlenecks pretty much until the end of March… Again, a distorted phone photo…
By the way, after talking to Yvette Prior, I am not only wearing a black Turtleneck, I have on black jeans ;) You can almost see them in the distorted selfie…. And, yes, I always wear a hat.
It seems like there was so much else, but, you know, it is a beautiful day (see photo above from my kitchen window ;) ). I need to get outside! The dogs need to get outside! I need my fresh air, sun and fall foliage! So if you’ll excuse me, I’ll be heading for the door….
Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a great weekend. If you have a coffee share I will try to stop in and chat.
The Weekend Coffee share is hosted by Eclectic Ali . This week’s share is here. and the link up is here.
ahhhh =- so happy to see the selfie – but not enough of the jeans to really get a feel for the Levis – but hey – at least you were kind enough not to show your arse! hahah
and the jeans do seem to go well with the hat and turtleneck
:)
((and yes – I am still starting a blog break – but had to log on to check on a few things – and glad I did because this made my day amigo – right on – and hope you have a great rest of October….))

When I linked to your site I wasn’t sure if you were officially on your break yet. Glad I caught you before it started :)
A few years ago someone asked why in a video I posted of me playing a synthesizer you couldn’t see my hands, only my face. I did a short video clip of me playing, but this one from behind. I emailed it to her and asked her if she could see why my video was face only ;) Nope, don’t need to show my arse to the world, even if fully clothed (the video was not indecent, it just would have been embarrassing).
In real life the hat, turtleneck and jeans are a lot closer in color – in this photo the turtleneck looks almost navy.
I hope your blogging break goes well! See you when you return.

well my break sorta started – but was just chatting with the hubs about how going “cold turkey” and an abrupt pause might have worked better – now I will know for next time –
and the mini pause this weekend was nice for taking care of the to-do lists – starting a project and a few other things I feel God is convicting me to finish ….
you know how it is….
and hope your Monday is going well

Yep, I get it. I think Cold Turkey is best, but not always easy. My Monday has been very busy – a lot happening at work, so taking a minute to look at the blog is a nice break, but maybe too much of a break ;) have a great week and a good blogging break :)

Well left a comment on the actual post..,,
But had to add that I “got me some” Levi’s blue jeans at the end of last month… and did think of blogging friends – 😊☀️🤸🏼♂️

All the beautiful photos in this coffee share makes me smile. Thank you! In the last photo you look very much like a dear childhood friend of mine. Almost like you could be brothers. He lives on Sweden though. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Thank you for the coffee!

Hi Maria! I hope your weekend went well. Actually, I have a “brother” from your area, but we don’t look anything alike. We had an exchange student from Härnösand when I was a kid. I didn’t stay in touch with Magnus (he was closer to my real brother’s age anyway), but my parents stayed in touch with parents and later met other people from Sweden and traveled there. Anyway, thanks for stopping by! Glad you enjoyed the splash of color we are having.

Autumn is my favorite time of year, with or without the foliage. The colors are just an added bonus! Hope your weekend is going well.

Thank you … all good here! Hope your weekend has been great. I love all the seasons … so distinctive.

I know, picking a favorite season is kind of like picking a favorite child. I do like them all and am glad to live in a place that has the full four seasons. But i still like autumn best ;) I hope you had a great weekend.

Ha! I like that analogy with favourite child 😊! Driving along the country lanes today was just beautiful with golden and reds on show. For sure, such a pretty picture.

I telecommuted today. so strayed in town, but I think today was the most colorful day this fall. Pretty picture here as well :)

Love the word telecommute! I was a telecommuter in the early 80s … and have a book to show … I’m not the author though… it was given to me.

Both the word and the action are great – there is no reason for me to waste time driving, so doing it over the wire, or Internet, is best…

I bet we’d put our coffee into thermal cups, grab the cameras and go out and shoot! Who expected to suddenly have a real fall when it looked like a total loser?

I am sure you are right. I haven’t had my real camera out for fall shots in a couple of years and I really need to do it. Perhaps today….

They say we had 10 foot waves on Lake Michigan Wednesday, and that there is a lot of erosion caused by the combination of high lake levels and the waves. I think we sent the wind on to you. Sorry.

What happens with these types of storms is the one you had moving across combines up with one crawling up the coast from down south and they become a super storm. My parents in northern Ohio always say I will get their weather the next day. sometimes true, but not always – that ocean does funny things ;) I hope you are having a good weekend.

With the kind of weather you’ve described, I think i’d also be in black with as much skin covered in layers as I could manage. I used to hate hats, but then I also used to have hair that didn’t cooperate with being covered. Not so much of a problem in that area any more and now I like them, especially in the cold. Still loving your photos.

I never liked ball capes or tucker hats, but a few years back I decided I needed a hat. About that time I visited new Orleans and saw al of the hats around… Yep, now I have a collection… The weather has been odd. I was joking with Y Prior about black jeans (I haven’t worn them since the 90s!) and turtlenecks, so the dressed all in black had to happen ;) I guess a tribute to Johnny Cash as well.

Funny, maybe his most popular song, but sine I only have the CD of a show he did at Folsom Prison, I never hear it.

I don’t know for sure but I’d be willing to bet that if you search for Johnny Cash And A Boy Named Sue on YouTube you’ll get a hit and it’ll be worth watching

One tea coming up… Thanks. This area is known for its fall foliage – people come from all over to see it.

I love the photo with the coffee pot and cups. That blue-and-white really sets off the fall background colors. Good eye, Trent. Here, the colors are starting but still muted – mostly pale yellow and browns, a few reds. We had frost last night, so I imagine the leaves will fall before they turn much more.

It was surprising how quickly the leaves changed this year. Here it is also mostly yellows with less red and orange than usual, but still pretty. I hope you get some color before the autumn is done. Have a good rest of your weekend :)

I love your photos, distorted or not still fun to share. And sooo amazing the fall colors which I know are so rich back East! Something we do not have in our semi-desert environment. My favorite photo all the trees looking out your kitchen window. Enjoyed having coffee with you and stay safe with all those storms. That’s some wind, holy smokes!! 😀

A few years ago I got some great photos out of that window – not saying the one from this morning is bad! The colors are great. It’s a little different this year in that it all seemed to come at once instead of spread out and there are less vivid oranges and reds, though the yellows are nice. But, yep, people come from all over to go “leaf peeping”. The winds were awful, but I know there were some nasty winds on the west coast over the last week or two as well. At least we didn’t have any fires! I hope your weekend is going well and that you have a great week ahead :)

Your weather is looking quite cold already, Trent. I saw some of these pictures on Instagram and showed them to my mom. You like a bit sinister all in black.

It is cold here, but not too far out of the ordinary. In ways, after the unusual wet warmth we had for a few weeks, I am happy to see the more typical mid-October blue skies and crisp mornings.
What I often do if I want a photo on my blog is take a picture with my phone, post it to Instagram, have it show up on Facebook, download it from FB and then post it on the blog ;) A lot of work, but… I do have a lot of camera equipment, but this is usually easier. Of course, some people see the photos three times that way.
I guess I need to be sinister to be a horror writer ;) I am wearing a white turtleneck today, so a little better, it’s just that when I wear the black hat and a black jacket I sometimes look like a priest. lol. I have a couple of other hats, but the black one is the usual one for the colder weather.

I think you look cool. Usual weather is definitely better in these days of weird climate change. I don’t mind seeing your photo’s more than once. I do the same except I download my photos to my computer.

Thanks! I actually need to use my “real camera” more often, I just get lazy. The photos are much better with it and I rarely post photos from it to Instagram, though I might to Facebook. Yes, I am enjoying the type of weather we are supposed to have rather than the strange weather we’ve been getting!

I like the outfit! Exciting weather, there, huh? I find the idea of living in the path of hurricanes to be scary. Guess that’s because I’m not so used to them as to blizzards. Lovely fall colors! Hope you enjoy your walk!

Thanks! Cape Cod isn’t exactly bullseye for tropical storms/hurricanes, but they do hit! This week’s storm was just odd. And we do get blizzards as well ;) I am enjoying the color! I’m glad it is finally here. Have a good weekend :)

Lookin’ mighty sharp. The leaves are just starting to change here as we had our first frost this week. As of 0600 this morn, we are about 1/3 moved. Moving is slow when using the car, don’t want to overload the shocks. Have a great week!

Thanks, Bear. I don’t think we’ve had a frost yet, but the color is great after its late start. Hope the moving goes smooth and that there are no more glitches!

Hubby tested the electric sockets, found 7 that need replacing. We went out and got the sockets, he’ll fix that after church tomorrow. Also, the thermostat doesn’t seem to be working, so will ask maintenance on it. If these are the only glitches… yipee!
