This has been an odd autumn. There has been very little color. Well, that changed. This last week has been beautiful. We had a couple of gorgeous sunny days and the foliage was in full “bloom”, so just beautiful. It is still odd – usually it drags out over many weeks while this year it seems to all be at once. Also there have been fewer reds and oranges, but it is still pretty.
My Smile for the week was the arrival of autumn colors, fall foliage..
What made you smile?
(Me smiling in the color – also first turtleneck of the year)
****
Come on, I’m sure you smiled at least once last week. Why don’t you share it? I hope you can join in!
Here is list of “rules” and guiding ideas. If you don’t have time to read it right now, just remember that this is an exercise to spread positivity. Don’t smile about the misfortune of others. Don’t smile in a way to excludes others. Make sure a 12 year old can read it.
And remember, the Smile can be anything, large or small. Nothing, nothing at all is too small for a Smile! Sometimes taking time to notice those small, every day smiles is more important than those once in a lifetime huge ones :)
To join in, write a post to share your smile and then leave a comment on this post with a link to your smile. Or, if you prefer, do a pingback to this post (pingback = have a link from your post to this one) (Note – pingbacks have been very inconsistent – please leave a comment :) ). You can post any time until next Sunday evening (to be simple, I will say midnight GMT, which is 7 PM Sunday for me). Next week I will compile all of the Smiles and do a separate post of them on Monday morning just before the smile. (I will shoot for around 7 AM EST).
Try to use the hashtag #WeeklySmile when you use Twitter or other social media that uses hashtags. I searched Twitter and found that #weeklysmile had been used only a handful of times back in 2012 and 2013. It hasn’t been used since. So it’s ours! I also registered it on Twubs.
You can use the graphic at the top. It is the official graphic for the event.
Now go out there and find something to smile about! :)

I do love the colors :) I am about to post a new smile for this coming week. I hope you don’t mind, but I am going to put yours in the new week instead of the old. If you have another smile this upcoming week, not a worry – you just hit it when I was about to post last week’s recap.

The new week is totally fine with me! That is a bit of aproblem when our time zone is ahead of yours. We see the weekend first but we also see the Monday first! Haha! Thanks for a fun challenge.

Monday already comes around too early… I run the challenge from Monday to Sunday, so I guess you’d have to wait until late Monday or Tuesday to join. I do have people linking up on Saturday occasional, so plenty of time.

Glad your color finally showed up. Ours sort of sprang up in one week too, pretty intense color here, and we’ve been lucky with sunshine most days. Maples are dropping their leaves now, it’s the oak trees’ turn. Here’s my smile for this week: https://dawnkinster.com/2019/10/24/smiling-in-the-rain/

This week has been very nice here too – Tuesday afternoon and yesterday mornign was cloudy and it rained over night, but most of the week has been sunny and colorful. The oaks are just starting to change and we still have maple, so it is nice. I’ll be by in a few to see your smile :)

We in California are worse off, we have no Fall in the South, only in the North, shortly, and the colors never get that intense as in the more Northern states:) But there are still plenty of weekly smiles though! https://wp.me/p9EWyp-1mu

That is one thing I like about New England is having a full four seasons with a beautiful, colorful fall – people come from all over “leaf peeping”. I’m sure there are plenty of smiles in Southern California, and I’ll be by to read yours in a few minutes :)

I love autumn colours, Trent, you make me smile too. It is spring in South Africa and we are having a heatwave but life could be worse.

The colors here are great. A spring heatwave doesn’t sound like fun. You can’t really be acclimated to the heat yet, and if you were here, the trees might not have leaves so there isn’t shade in an early Spring heatwave. But, as you said, it could be worse!

I’ve noticed that this year the Fall Foilage is not lasting as long as it should here either. But, we’ve been hit with some lousy weather and the leaves starting falling quicker. (Bummer). Very nice pictures that you shared by the way.

We had unusual warmth at first, so they didn’t change as early as usual, and then, like you, bad weather. But we did get some color, so I’m happy! Thanks :)

Fall is a great reason to smile! I was actually cold when In took my dog Gretchen for a walk this morning – I love it!

Yes, I love the autumn. The only thing I don’t like is that I will have to start wearing gloves when I walk the dogs soon – my hands are already freezing when I walk them in the morning! I’m glad you are enjoying the cooler weather as well – after the hot summer you deserve to be cold!

Sounds great, I was outside a lot and in the woods a bit, but mostly around town. There is a few great parks and preserves within a short drive, but I didn’t want to get in the car ;)
