Hi all! I had a lot to smile about this week! My favorite holiday was on Thursday! My birthday was on Thursday! (Not that I like getting older ;)  I spent time on Cape Cod. I am finally able to charge my plug-in hybrid car on Cape Cod since I finally had a car charger installed at the new place (no outdoor electric) (I can’t tell you the relief it is to charge the car down there again!). And this morning I saw that I was an honorable mention for Colleen’sweekly poetry challenge.

There was, however, one smile bigger than the others :)

On Friday I was reading through blogs on my Reader. I am always behind in my reading, but I like to try to keep up with my favorites. I’ve met a lot of great people through blogging. besides reading some great work, the friendships are what keeps blogging from becoming a chore.

Anyway, I came across a post by Penny Wilson.

No, I won’t tell you what it is, you have to go read it ;) Go, go read it now…

OK, Penny has started a new feature, Favorite Fridays, where she is going to post about her favorite blogs. Although she said she is posting them in no particular order, I was honored to be the first one. To say it took me by surprise is an understatement.  To say I had an ear to ear grin is also an understatement :) What a great smile!

That was my smile this week, being one of Penny’s Favorite Things :) (Sorry, I had to go into the Sound of Music for a moment).

Here is list of “rules” and guiding ideas.  If you don’t have time to read it right now, just remember that this is an exercise to spread positivity.  Don’t smile about the misfortune of others.  Don’t smile in a way to excludes others.  Make sure a 12 year old can read it.

And remember, the Smile can be anything, large or small.  Nothing, nothing at all is too small for a Smile!  Sometimes taking time to notice those small, every day smiles is more important than those once in a lifetime huge ones :)

To join in, write a post to share your smile and then leave a comment on this post with a link to your smile.  Or, if you prefer, do a pingback to this post (pingback = have a link from your post to this one) (Note – pingbacks have been very inconsistent – please leave a comment :) ).   You can post any time until next Sunday evening (to be simple, I will say midnight GMT, which is 7 PM Sunday for me).   Next week I will compile all of the Smiles and do a separate post of them on Monday morning just before the smile.  (I will shoot for around 7 AM EST).

Try to use the hashtag #WeeklySmile when you use Twitter or other social media that uses hashtags. I searched Twitter and found that #weeklysmile had been used only a handful of times back in 2012 and 2013. It hasn’t been used since. So it’s ours! I also registered it on Twubs.

Now go out there and find something to smile about! :)

    What a great smile this week and you help keep me motivated as well as others here in this blogging world. 😀 I get behind sometimes but everyone is so sweet and kind, and I Love the weekly smile. I enjoyed Penny’s review and agree!! 😉

      Hi Gary. It is only a half joke when I say I like our hurricanes better than fires, mudslides and earthquakes. Yikes, the fires have been terrible. Cool you could help, even without power, and that you came out relatively unscathed.

    Trent – that was a great smile – when I read penny’s post / well she honored you well! What a cool idea too – to feature favs on Friday

    And in a slightly different way you were the source of a huge smile for me last week- for the sweet comment you left on Norah’s blog with the School Days post! Really appreciate that – and maybe penny’s post was the universe’s way (or make that God’s way) of splashing love your way after you generously sent some my way – and you of course splash good things around this blogosphere – as you post and share your writing – and that leads me into the birthday wishes….
    Hope your day was a great one and here’s to the coming year.

      Thank you very much, Yvette :) I don’t know if there was any karma from my comment as I was just saying what I think. Penny’s post did make my day. It is a wonderful idea, but I’d have no idea how to start something like that! The world can be such a nasty place with so many artificial divisions between people, I don’t want that following me into the blogosphere, so I really enjoy the rapport with other people out there, like you :) and Penny :)

      It was a great surpise :) The charger is outside. At my little cottage I had on Cape Cod I had an outdoor electrical outlet that I could plug into. It took forever to charge, but it was good. The “new” place is very old and there are no outdoor outlets. As part of the electrical work I am having done (last electrical work in the 1950s….) I had them install a good charger.

    Penny have good taste :) You have a lot to smile about this week. Sounds like your Birthday week was great! How awesome that you can charge your car at your new place now.

      My birthday was actually pretty boring as birthdays go, but it was exactly what I wanted :) I avoided leaving the house when I had to use gasoline, so the charger is great!

      I have an idea of what your smile might be, but you posted some great pictures of a few different things, so I’ll wait to see!
