The Weekly Smile for the 18th of November, 2019 #weeklysmile


Last week was a pretty good.  Nothing huge or super, but good.  Some of what happened sounds like it would make for a great smile, such as the woman we asked to speak to our Lions Club about time in Kenya, but I don’t want to go into too much depth since I didn’t tell her I’d blog about her. There was also the after effects of last week’s smile – hours in the studio playing and recording music, but I just talked about it last week so…  I had a couple of great runs, some of my best since summer.  There was the usual play time with the dogs, including running around a big field near the school – but I want some photos for a dog play post :) It was my six year blog anniversary (blogaversary) and I had a great blog-week. But not a big, I need to write about this event.

You know what? I am going to do another “it’s the small things” post.

It is the small things. We cannot be constantly ecstatic.  Life has ups and downs. There can’t be major events every week or those special events become just normal events. Life is not a series of great achievements but a continuous path.  Sometimes there are hard uphills, but there are also great views. Parts of the path may e lined with thorns, but sometimes there are flowers on those thorns. Biggest cliche in the Universe, but maybe we need to slow down, look across those views and stop to smell the flowers :)

So that is it this week: a good week over all, but not one that will be marked on my calendar forever.  There were few big vistas, but there were a few great sunsets ;)


My smile this week was all of those little moments that make up life.

And remember, the Smile can be anything, large or small.  Nothing, nothing at all is too small for a Smile!  Sometimes taking time to notice those small, every day smiles is more important than those once in a lifetime huge ones :)

Try to use the hashtag #WeeklySmile when you use Twitter or other social media that uses hashtags. I searched Twitter and found that #weeklysmile had been used only a handful of times back in 2012 and 2013. It hasn’t been used since. So it’s ours! I also registered it on Twubs.

    Thanks, Trent for the reminder about the small things. The small things are very important in our lives because it’s those things that allow us to slow down and take a deep breath and relax.

        Things here are good – just had an amazing and much needed afternoon walk! Omg is walking underestimated for wellness – and wishing you a good rest of the weeks with lots of walks with and without the dogs

          I just got back from a walk – I am on the Cape and the “new” place is about 1/4 from two landings in two directions, so it makes a great walk to go from landing to landing… And, yep, you remember my comment about at least 3 walks a day, most with dogs, but at least one without (I don’t have the dogs with me, so this weekend, all without ;) ). As to wellness, it is so much more than physical, it is needed for my mental well being. It’s the greatest therapy ever.

            Trent – it really is so therapeutic and it is so sad that our culture doe snot walk more.
            and sometimes at the store we will see someone in a motorized cart – I get that they might have knee issues and other ailments – but the walk in the store might just do them good – not the cart.
            anyhow, walking outside is the best and I did remember your comment about the multiple walks…

      Sometimes it’s hard to pay attention to the little things – they just pass by. Every so often I do that little cliche of slowing down,perhaps stopping to smell the roses, etc. Recording and such is a lot of fun :)

    You are so right about the “small things”! Sometimes “uneventful” can be a GOOD thing! The “small things” for me are things like spending time in my back yard with my dog and watching the birds at the birdbath. A quiet Sunday with beautiful sunshine. Perfect! Nice post, Trent! <3
