Hi all! I took a bit of a blogging break and have been off line quite a bit over the last two weeks. Last week I went up to northern Maine to have Thanksgiving with the in-laws. There was a bit of crusty snow when I got there. The dogs, however, loved it – this is early Wednesday morning:
A few hours later I took my own photo just to prove I was there ;)
It snowed over night into Thursday. It is very pretty area! Yes, that is a large lake in the background.
Fiyero loves the new snow.
It was a typical family eating fest for Thanksgiving. A lto fo visiting, talking, etc. I did go out with my “real” camera on Friday taking photos, but haven’t had a chance to look at them yet.
A relative who couldn’t make it asked if I could take a picture of the old church in the snow. I got the request just before i left, so I wasn’t able to get a good photo, but:
I drove back Saturday. It is a 6 hour drive.
My smile this week is a visit to northern Maine.
What made you smile?
****
Come on, I’m sure you smiled at least once last week. Why don’t you share it? I hope you can join in!
Here is list of “rules” and guiding ideas. If you don’t have time to read it right now, just remember that this is an exercise to spread positivity. Don’t smile about the misfortune of others. Don’t smile in a way to excludes others. Make sure a 12 year old can read it.
And remember, the Smile can be anything, large or small. Nothing, nothing at all is too small for a Smile! Sometimes taking time to notice those small, every day smiles is more important than those once in a lifetime huge ones :)
To join in, write a post to share your smile and then leave a comment on this post with a link to your smile. Or, if you prefer, do a pingback to this post (pingback = have a link from your post to this one) (Note – pingbacks have been very inconsistent – please leave a comment :) ). You can post any time until next Sunday evening (to be simple, I will say midnight GMT, which is 7 PM Sunday for me). Next week I will compile all of the Smiles and do a separate post of them on Monday morning just before the smile. (I will shoot for around 7 AM EST).
Try to use the hashtag #WeeklySmile when you use Twitter or other social media that uses hashtags. I searched Twitter and found that #weeklysmile had been used only a handful of times back in 2012 and 2013. It hasn’t been used since. So it’s ours! I also registered it on Twubs.
You can use the graphic at the top. It is the official graphic for the event.
Now go out there and find something to smile about! :)

Sometimes those through the window shots are great for many reasons – and I like the Angie and upview of that classic little church ;)
Sometimes I like those shots better than the good camera set up ones –
And nice visit to bring lots of smikes

I looked at my camera, and I did get a much clearer shot of the church, but it is still the same angle. Sometime soon I may do a photo post and include it.
It was a nice visit/nice smile :)

Oh, forgot, my 87 year old “aunt-in-law”, the one who requested the church photo, loved it, so that is what is important :)

Glad she loved it and yes – that was the main reason to grab the photo ;)
And I do love those little old churches – there is one in Morrison Colorado I juts love

Such a great SMILE!! I do love the lighting in the first photo and love the church too. They are all good actually! Looking good in your hat! I’m not used to the cold, and don’t like it really much like you don’t do well in the heat so we are both in good locations I think! I’m hoping to write a smile this week! 😃🥰😉

Thanks! The morning light was gorgeous for the one photo. Some day I hope to do a photo post of all of the photos I took with my “real” camera. Yes, I think we are both in the right place, though too much snow does get to me after a while… I hope you do get a chance to write a smile post :)

Oh oh oh … looks too cold for my liking – but cheers to the dogs having a grand time! How much snow is the current storm giving you?

One thing, it was bitter cold up there for a few days, while it’s been staying in the high 20s and low 30s here for this storm. The bad side is that we had about 6 inches in Maine. Monday I woke up to around 14″. There was a little less than an inch through the day, and it looks like around a foot last night (I haven’t been out yet). It is still snowing… Well over two feet by the time it is all over…

Oh my … that’s too much snow for me. If I recall, you work from home, so stay warm.

Yes, I work from home. I’ll take a break soon and shovel for a while…

Hopefully is powder, not wet.

Wet, heavy – it has been a constant 30 the last few days, so…

Thanks, Colline. Back in NH we received over a foot (around 35 cm) by Monday morning and another foot (around 30 cm) last night and it is still snowing!

Sounds like you had a lovely time away. The pictures are so gorgeous, even though I’m not a fan of snow. But the one with the church is so, so pretty!

It was a good time away. I do like snow, though with over a foot here last night and more on the way, I’m not so sure right now ;) And I know I will be sick of it by mid-February. But I did choose to live in New Hampshire, so… The snow was very pretty, and I’m glad I went out of my way for the church picture for Rita :)

I do love the change in the seasons, but winter is one that gets to me everytime. It’s because of my seasonal affective disorder.
Now that my roommate and I are discussing moving South… There’s a slimmer of hope on the horizon. LOL!

Moving south for the winter sounds fine, but I don’t do well in the heat, so… If you can move, it might make sense.

Oh, this is a one shot deal of moving South. I’m not huge fan of the heat and humidity either, but that’s why God invented A/C. LOL!

I liked the sunlight on the windows of the tractor and on the dogs in the first photo. Nice scenery.
