After the Solstice
Cold wind on the sand
Early sunset lights water
Ice under surface
As land sleeps through the season
The sea celebrates winter

Written for Colleen’s WeeklyPoetry Challenge #tankatuesday. This week is poet’s choice for key words. I decided to do a tanka.
What a beautiful Tanka, Trent. The picture is lovely also. Loved it! :D

Thanks, Vashti! The picture is of a 3:30 PM sunset – far too early!

I just checked – Sunset on Cape Cod on Christmas is 4:15, so the sun is pretty low at 3:30 in late December… It was actually someplace between 3:30 and 4, but still early! But then, we have those long summer days to make up for it :)
