Hello and Welcome! Come on in and I’ll get you a large mug of super-strong dark roast, a cuppa tea or other beverage. It is a bit chilly out, but feels balmy after the screeching winds and bitter cold of yesterday. Quite a change from last week’s weather report, no? ;) And were are we? Some of you may know that Edward Gorey mug as being just a few miles from the Edward Gorey House on Cape Cod.
Wow, quite the week. I spent pretty much all of last weekend outside enjoying the weather. I even went running in shorts and t-shirt! I did the typical long walks, exercizing, other runs and a massage on Wednesday (hi Dottie ;) ). Wednesday evening I drove down here to The Cape.
I did a few walks in the strong wind on Thursday and hit the beach for the sunset. The entire sky was all sorts of cool (actually warm ;) ) colors that would be impossible to capture – you had to be there in the full 360 degree glory of it all. Here it is starting to dip down.
As I was walking back to the car, golden rays shot out and filled the sky. I ran back to the beach, despite the fact that the wind was even stronger, and grabbed a few more photos. It was worth spitting sand for an hour and having gritty eyes all night! (I was the only one on that mile of beach!)
I did a lot of writing this last week and posted five new short stories! Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday (Friday Fictioneers), Thursday and Friday.
It’s warming up and I do need to get outside. Thanks for stopping by! If you have a coffee share, I’ll try to stop by your place later :)
The coffee share is hosted over on Eclectic Alli. The link to join is here.
(A slightly wider angle to give you the scene ;) )

Glorious pictures, Trent. I call those specular sun Ray’s Guest appearances from God.

Thanks. That’s a pretty good name for it – it does seem like God is showing up when they sky is like that….

Trent, I love the sunset photos. We call those ‘God Rays’ down here in Florida. I just saw one a couple of days ago but didn’t have my camera in the car – a phone shot out the window just doesn’t capture the same feeling. Thanks for sharing the joy!

I have heard that term before, and it does fit… I didn’t have my camera with me either, so these are phone shots. A little edited using GIMP, but not too bad for the phone.

Really not bad for a cell phone!!

My phone does pretty good for the broad landscapes, but is useless for anything else…

Thanks, Gray. It was really amazing being immersed in it! When I posted that photo on Instagram, I wrote that the sun set loudly, and I mean it – it was the visual equivalent of watching a 100 piece orchestra, and more so…

Thanks! It was peaceful, an inner type of peace, though – the wind was screaming! And the colors were so magnificent, it was the visual version of a huge symphony :) (When I posted the photo on Instagram, I wrote that the sunset loudly :) )

I like your description of it–that it was the visual version of a huge symphony. You had a great view watching as the sun set loudly :)

Yes, front row seats but with nobody else in the audience :) It was cold and windy, but I can’t believe I was the only one out there, immersed in nature’s wonderful concert.

Thanks, Robbie :) I have been a bit depressed about my writing for the last four months or so and have had a hard time pushing any out, so hopefully this is the start of my comeback :)

I am sorry to hear that, Trent. Writing is not an easy thing to feel successful at, there is so much competition and it is difficult to do the marketing and the writing. It is something that most writers like us feel compelled to do though, isn’t it?

Yes, I do have to write :) There is a blogger that I follow that has no desire to publish any of her stories. She is content to just write them and post them on her blog. There are times that I am a little envious – she doesn’t have to worry about any of that stressful stuff ;) Oh well. I’m starting to write again, so I guess I’ll start editing soon. And perhaps my WIP will see daily, if about 4 months later than expected. I guess no matter how good her philosophy sometimes sounds, it isn’t for me…

Nor me, Trent. I have to keep trying to improve and testing it out with readers and friends. How will I know otherwise?

I agree. Reading some thing on a blog is very different than a published work, or a work to be published as a beta reader. I can very honestly tell someone I loved the story on the blog post, but if I read it in a book I might be, “meh”.

Super great photos. I know that feeling of disappointment when you try to hard so capture the extravagance of such a beautiful scene, and cameras just won’t do it. But you did a fantastic job here.

Thanks, Sandra. There is a big difference between being there and immersed in it and photo, but I felt these came out pretty well :)

Oh, my, what a spectacular scene you captured, Trent! The winds are guaranteed to set amazing skies and seas and you were fortunate [albeit freezing!] to witness both! :-)

To me sunrises and sunsets are often more spectacular with clouds than just the plain sky. And this one was gorgeous :)

Wonderful cup of coffee as I am sitting enjoying your beautiful photos!! I know what you mean when you are out experiencing what you are seeing and it seems the photos don’t do it justice! When the rays of the sun shoot out – so worth going back getting that shot!! WOW!! Enjoy the outdoors and your weekend!! 😃
