The Weekly Smile for the 20th of January, 2020 #weeklysmile

Yes, I know, I’m late, but better late than never :)

My big smile this week was spending a long weekend on Cape Cod.  I went down there late Wednesday.  I worked from there on Thursday and Friday.  It was cold and windy through most of weekend.  I returned to NH Sunday afternoon.  Pretty normal (except I usually come back early on Sunday), and yet it was nice.  Very relaxing.

One special thing is Thursday’s sunset.  It was very, very windy on the beach, so I was the only one out there.

I watched for maybe 5 or 10 minutes before heading back to the parking lot.  When I reached the parking lot, I noticed that the entire sky lit up.  I walked back down to the waters edge and soaked it in for a while longer.  Gorgeous.

That was my smile, relaxing on Cape Cod and enjoying the sunsets.

What made you smile?

****

Come on, I’m sure you smiled at least once last week.  Why don’t you share it?  I hope you can join in!

Here is list of “rules” and guiding ideas.  If you don’t have time to read it right now, just remember that this is an exercise to spread positivity.  Don’t smile about the misfortune of others.  Don’t smile in a way to excludes others.  Make sure a 12 year old can read it.

And remember, the Smile can be anything, large or small.  Nothing, nothing at all is too small for a Smile!  Sometimes taking time to notice those small, every day smiles is more important than those once in a lifetime huge ones :)

To join in, write a post to share your smile and then leave a comment on this post with a link to your smile.  Or, if you prefer, do a pingback to this post (pingback = have a link from your post to this one) (Note – pingbacks have been very inconsistent – please leave a comment :) ).   You can post any time until next Sunday evening (to be simple, I will say midnight GMT, which is 7 PM Sunday for me).   Next week I will compile all of the Smiles and do a separate post of them on Monday morning just before the smile.  (I will shoot for around 7 AM EST).

Try to use the hashtag #WeeklySmile when you use Twitter or other social media that uses hashtags. I searched Twitter and found that #weeklysmile had been used only a handful of times back in 2012 and 2013. It hasn’t been used since. So it’s ours! I also registered it on Twubs.

You can use the graphic at the top. It is the official graphic for the event.

Now go out there and find something to smile about! :)

That’s a stunning sunset and the reflections are really special. As for smiles this week, life is changing here very quickly and I’m not entirely up to speed on what’s going on. I haven’t even written about it because I’m not sure it’s real yet. I’m pretty sure there’s a lot to be thankful for, but I need time to absorb it all. Stay tuned. Film at 11.

It was a gorgeous sunset and I feel lucky to have been there – it was well worth the mouth full of sand… I’ll have to keep an eye on your blog to see what is up.

My guess is that you picked the wrong place ;) I wasn’t on the “west coast” of Cape Cod looking over Massachusetts Bay, but on the “south coast”. If you look at the photos, you might notice that I’m not looking out at the water, but down the beach, facing west. You also have to remember that during the winter the sun is to the south. OK, it is to the south all year since we are north of the tropics, but it is just a bit above the horizon during December and January…. No matter where I was standing, it was a gorgeous evening :)

I’ll stop by to see your smile in a few minutes.

There is something about a sunset over the water…. In ways I was surprised that there weren’t people lined up, but I did have a mouth full of sand by he time I left the beach ;)
