Hello and Welcome! Come on in and I’ll get you a nice large mug of super-strong dark roast, a cuppa tea or some hot cocoa. It is a beautiful day, but a little chilly, particularly after yesterday’s warmth. And where are we? Some of you may recognize the photo at the top as coming from Cape Cod.
Funny thing. As I sat down to write, the Davis Bowie song Valentine’s Day came on. It is from his second to last album and is great, as is all Bowie…
It was one of those busy weeks without much to say. i was constantly on the run, but just deign the things of life. It was a little too wet Thursday to do much here and too windy yesterday (up to 70 mph! (113 kph)). I was running and hit and open area and nearly knocked off my feet. It wasn’t raining, but the water coming off of the bay soaked me almost instantly. Yeah, I think it was even more than 70 mph at that time! You could see the water whipping through the air and it was like stinging horizontal rain. I’ve been out in 100 mph wind before and this was worse….
Typical stuff this week – exercise, running, dog play, work, more work, work around the house, walks, reading, playing music (a new musical toy! Video posted on Tuesday), etc.
I have a lot planned for today. Since I am the type that I don’t want to count my chickens before they hatch, I will wait a couple of more weeks before I fill you in.
Anyway, it is sunny and there is not even a breeze! Sure, it is below freezing, but I will go out before I start my day full of “work”.
Oh, one thing – last week when I listed all of the things I did, I forgot to say that my furnace broke. OK, it was easy, just a thermocoupler, but I had to run out and buy one, which didn’t fit. So I had to gerry-rig it and then do another run a few days later. Uhg.
Thanks for stopping by! If you have a coffee share I’ll try to stop by. (Another David Bowie song just came up – random play likes Bowie today…)
The coffee share is hosted over on Eclectic Alli. The link to join is here.
Yikes, running in horizontal rain, when it’s not actually raining! That had to have been an experience.

I guess the wind was pretty bad all up and down the east coast. We didn’t get a lot of damage (I saw a few large limbs and one tree) but I heard of some areas getting a lot of damage.
Hope your weekend is going well :)

We had some crazy wind here yesterday too. I’m certainly glad you weren’t blow into the bay and that you were able to get your furnace up and running again. My husband proved this week that he can do just about anything when he took apart our 20 year old dryer and replaced the belt that turns the drum. He says YouTube is a homeowners dream! Have a great week.

I did see that you had odd weather when I read your coffee share. I have a friend in Jersey, though I think closer to the PA border, who said the temps fell 25 degrees in less than three hours yesterday afternoon (my brother is in Phili, but I didn’t talk to him). I agree – YouTube is the homeowners dream! I’ve been replacing the thermocoupler since I bought the house 25 years ago, but YouTube has saved my backside on other things ore than once.

brrrr
Where you live – no heat is a huge problem.
Glad you found a way to make even a misfitting part work.

It was relatively warm (30s, but sunny ;) ), so we weren’t freezing yet (I also use electric heaters for supplement), but it is never good when the heater dies! I bought several, and had to return them. A local store (as opposed to Lowes) had the correct type, so I returned the Lowes ones and bought three good ones! The gerry-rigged one might last years – I think all it does is tell the furnace if the pilot is lit. If the pilot goes out, it shuts off the gas so the house doesn’t sill with gas. The thermocoupler worked, but didn’t fit my furnace.

Bowie is (was) great. I can listen to his music pretty much any time/any place.
I hope you are having a great weekend :)

Oh my, that’s super duper windy!! What crazy weather. Sounds like a busy week. Thanks for the cup of coffee!! Love Bowie! I’m getting ready for my trip to Hawaii, a busy weekend as I’m working too. 😃

Working and getting ready for travel – I’m sure you are busy! That is one thing about Cape Cod – the wind is a constant and can be quite awful at times. Have a great trip!

The wind is fascinating. I can remember a work experience years ago where I had to angle my work car just right because you could feel the wind go under it and it was like it was lifting it trying to flip it over like the semi truck it had flipped. When I was out in the wind that day I could latterly lean into it and have it hold me up! Wild! Anyway, hope you have a great day. Thanks for the virtual cup.

That is one thing about Cape Cod – the wind is a constant and can be quit strong. I run instead of jog, which means that there are times that both feet are off of the ground. I was mid-stride when I got hit by one of the stronger gusts and was blown sideways bit before hitting the ground!
I hope you are having a great weekend :)

Are you working voting locations? Thx for coffee.

No. I’ll obviously vote on Tuesday, but not helping out this year. I have counted votes in past years for different elections – always interesting. I’ve also held signs outside of polling stations, even though I am 99% convinced it does zero good.

Funny… my furnace broke last week too! Turned out it just needed a proper cleaning. Not the kind of thing you want to have happen when it’s in the teens outside! But we all survived and now it almost feels too hot in here! Lol…

No, not what you want when it’s in the teens! In our case it was in the 30s, so not as bad…

I think with how close it is to Valentine’s Day that the song really caught my attention. Besides the fact that I love Bowie ;) Hope your weekend is going well :)
