Hello and Welcome! Come on in and I’ll get you large mug of ultra-strong dark roast, a cuppa tea or some hot cocoa. It is bright and sunny out there, but don’t let that deceive you. It’s cold. We have been having yo-yo temperatures lately. The good news is that it will be warmer than forecast and actually get above freezing later in the day… Where are we? Some may recognize that photo at the top as being taken in New Hampshire. yes, after three weekends on Cape Cod, I am back in NH!
It was a pretty busy week. I had to get a new laptop at work. Our Lions Club held a “candidates night” for candidates to local office in our town hall – I helped organize and sent the invitations. I had massage. I played with puppies, walked puppies, played musical instruments, walked by myself, ran, exercised, read, wrote and did a little editing (after 4 months away). I also made another batch of chili from scratch, including soaking the beans. It will be ready at lunch!
Oh, I also got a tick :( This is the second tick I got this winter. They love me. I have tried to be careful, but…
I had a bit of bad news yesterday, but since I didn’t share the good side, I won’t the bad… I had hinted about the last few weeks, but didn’t want to “count my chickens before they hatched” and was right not to – it all fell apart on the very last day. Oh well, life goes on. And I did some very needed work.
Oh, yes, and work. Besides the new laptop, it was busy. A few things did finally come through there (yeah!) and I made a few steps in the right direction on some other projects. And, of course, I got calls from people about things that aren’t mine because I’ve become known as a bit of a “Subject Matter Expert” even on subjects that I’m, well, not the expert, or at least isn’t really part of my job… lol
Anyway, cold or not, I will spend a lot of time outside today! I also have a ton of chores to do, since this is my first weekend in NH in a month.
So I got to run (maybe not literally today, except when playing with the dogs). Thanks for stopping by! If you have a coffee share, I will try to stop by, but make no promises – I’ve missed quite a few the last several weeks…
The coffee share is hosted over on Eclectic Alli. The link to join is here.
I have always wondered about the leap day, like if you were born on one, when do you ever get to have your birthday when its not a leap year…
But moving on, sounds like it was a busy week with running literally and figuratively too, if life were any fair the bad balances out with the good, thats Karma right
have an awesome week

One of my friends as a kid was born on leap year day. Normally he celebrated on the 28th, but had a special birthday on leap year. He would joke about 3 years old, and I have heard that other places, but it isn’t “years old”, it is just the number of birthdays with a few years between….
I like to stay busy :) I’m hoping the good comes along and balances out the bad, but truthfully, I know my problems are pretty insignificant compared to a lot of people! Like I can count on having electricity 24×7 unless there is a bad storm…
I hope you are having a wonderful week!

I love our Lions club, they provided my best friends daughter with a diabetic pump after I wrote a heartfelt plea of a letter, they do such great things here. I didn’t know ticks would be out in such cold weather, here in Aus our worst time is summer for ticks. Hope your week is fantastic & full of good things.

Sorry to hear about the tick and the bad news, Trent. Hope this week and March go well for you. The weather is spring-like this week where I live so I’ll be outdoor walking a lot. #weekendcoffeeshare

Thanks, Natalie. We are still in yo-yo mode weather-wise. It was frigid over the weekend but will get to spring-like temperatures during the week. I still get out a lot, even when it is cold ;) Have a great week!

I’m about to have chill for dinner! I like to make a lot and freeze some, hot chili is so good cold days. I hope your new laptop is working out, and that you didn’t lose anything important with the one you retired. Thanks for the delicious coffee! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

I do make a large batch and will freeze a little over half of the chili. The transition to the new laptop went much more smoothly than I imagined. I did make a backup copy of everything, just in case, but didn’t need it. Thanks for stopping by!

I am sorry about the tick but the line you wrote sounded like the beginning to a short story! Thanks for having coffee and sharing your week

lol, maybe I’ll have to make a short story out of it. Funny, I got into writing, and from there into blogging, after someone told me that a comment I left on Facebook sounded like the opening to a short story. I sat down and wrote that story and haven’t looked back…. Thanks for visiting. I hope you are having a good weekend and have a wonderful week ahead.

Hi Trent. I too work in the tech industry and recently had to get a new laptop. Dang! For something that should be pleasant, by the time I get safely migrated, hardened, security protected and lord knows what else in in that standard install – way too much time has passed and our company no longer wants to support our upgrades with a warm body. They want the whole thing to be automated which often leaves you with questions you can’t answer – so of course mistakes happen. So more time is lost fixing things that weren’t broken until you ran some script. I’m exhausted just thinking about it.
Hope your experience was better than mine.

This ended up being a better upgraded than expected. They have contractors that go to facilities just to upgrade. I had the new laptop in my possession already – we have people who work with Dell to create a custom image for us with all of the hardening, etc already on the image. So, he was going to do all of the stuff necessary to get me going, but I have too much crap on my laptop, so he tethered them and copied my profile from old to new. I lost the configuration for most programs, but everything else was perfect. I had exported favorites, but didn’t need to re-import them. The rights they said would go away transfer (shh, don’t tell anybody). Much better than expected.
Sorry your laptop upgrade wasn’t quite as smooth.
Hope you had a good weekend and have a great week ahead.

Sorry whatever fell apart on the last day, I’m sure that’s disappointing, but lots of other nice stuff happened. Hope it all balances out! Plus today we have sun, at least here!

It is disappointing and it is a situation that does need to be resolved sooner than later, but besides that, it was a very good week. It is sunny today, but not windy! Yesterday never did get above freezing and it might not today as well, though we will reach 60 by Tuesday.
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you have a good week ahead.

Thank you for the coffee this morning, cool it’s leap year day! Looks chilly there. Brrr… But I love how you always get outside no matter what and that is so inspiring. You have me intrigued about the something but understand if it didn’t pan out than it’s not worth sharing. Lol – curiosity killed the cat, isn’t that the saying? Stay warm out there! 😉🥰
P.S. it’s been a super crazy week for me as I so wanted to share a smile, and here it is Saturday. I have exciting news I’ll be sharing in my coffee share. There’s always next week for a SMILE post! 😊

It is cold, but the photo was from last winter… I’ll tell my secret when it finally comes through (two weeks ago I talked about activities I was doing on the Cape that is a huge clue…)
I’ll stop by later and look forward to your coffee share and smile :) As you’ve seen, I usually mention my weekly smile in my coffee share as well since it is part of my week…

That sounds great! And very true about the weekly smile can be both or mentioned in the coffee share. I think I’ve read some others that have linked the two together sometimes! Great idea! 😃

Although some read both posts, I feel they are two different things with different audiences. One just-the-facts-ma’am about my week, the other is highlighting one specific thing that made my week better :)
