I can procrastinate with the best of them.  Why do today what can be put off until tomorrow?  One thing that I am usually pretty good at is taking down the Christmas tree.  Every year it comes down on the first weekend after New Years Day.

This year something came up that weekend.  And then I was away for several weekends.  And there were emergencies.  And I forgot on others.  And I was busy. And…

OK, no more excuses.

I took down the Christmas tree yesterday, over 2 1/2 months later than usual.

I can hear you out there snickering.  But I know a few people who kept their tree up much longer than usual this year.  In fact, at least one person said they might try to make it until next Christmas  ;)  Well, I didn’t make it that long. So now I have a big chunk of my living room back.

That was my smile for the week, taking down the Christmas tree months behind schedule.

Here is list of “rules” and guiding ideas.  If you don’t have time to read it right now, just remember that this is an exercise to spread positivity.  Don’t smile about the misfortune of others.  Don’t smile in a way to excludes others.  Make sure a 12 year old can read it.

And remember, the Smile can be anything, large or small.  Nothing, nothing at all is too small for a Smile!  Sometimes taking time to notice those small, every day smiles is more important than those once in a lifetime huge ones :)

Try to use the hashtag #WeeklySmile when you use Twitter or other social media that uses hashtags. I searched Twitter and found that #weeklysmile had been used only a handful of times back in 2012 and 2013. It hasn’t been used since. So it’s ours! I also registered it on Twubs.

      After I took it down I saw several articles about people putting their trees back up to add some festivity to their social isolation… I guess a change is a change, and I chose the change of taking it down ;)

    Haha, you definitely made me giggle! Thanks for being honest and sharing, and we all need a smile and even a giggle these days. Hope you know I’m giggling with you not at you, we all get busy (and procrastinate, I’ve been told that’s my middle name! Lol) thanks for your SMILE! 😀

      Glad I got some smiles and laughs from this:) To make it funnier, it went down super easy – I think it is about 1/4 the time to take it down as to set it up – I organized the boxes and went straight from tree to box. And then, since it is usually done within a few days of New Years… Just funny all around…

      Yes, yes, everything is my fault… Copying and pasting my response to Willow: I have not heard that one. Of course there is a huge difference between the old days and real trees (old days = 4 years ago) and today with artificial trees. By January 1st, I had to get the real tree out of the house. They clog the humidifiers and I am sure become a fire hazard, so, yes, very bad luck!

          As i said, I always get it down the weekend after New Years until this year, which, in my opinion, makes it even funnier… And add to that, it actually went down a lot quicker than expected. I organized the boxes and things went straight from the tree into the appropriate box. I think it took 1/4 the time coming down than up…

    So it’s all your fault, my mum always said the tree must be taken down before midnight of the fifth of January or it would be a bad year! 😜💜💜💜💜 I just don’t know how you could stand it that long!!!!
