If We Were Having Coffee on the 4th of April, 2020

Hello and Welcome!  Come on in, or, uhm, let’s go out into the back yard and I’ll get you a large mug of super strong Dark Roast, a cuppa tea or a mug of hot cocoa.  It is very windy and cool, and still wet, but it is nice to be out, isn’t it?  And at least the wind isn’t screaming, as it was the last few days!  Where are we?  Some may recognize that Edward Gorey mug as being from Cape Cod.

Yeah, I drove down to “The Cape” on Wednesday.  I have not seen a person from closer than 100 yards/meters and haven’t been to any stores, so I am not a risk ;) Or at risk.  It has rained since I have been here and the wind has howled continuously.  It is wet and cold and the dogs are going crazy – they don’t mind the wet and cold as much as they HATE the noise of the wind!  I understand.  I saw 4 foot tall waves on the Bass River (over a meter)!  This is not a big river!  Even though the tide was out, the waves were crashing into the parking lot.

Yeah, April showers and all of that.  Looking forward to those May flowers!

It was a tough work week.  I stayed after a few days and so thought I could leave early on Friday.  Nope, the director of my unit scheduled a meeting for the end of my day…  Oh well.  At least I AM working!  And being paid.

I feel I have gotten less done this week than I have in a long time.  In many ways my life has not changed much, but with the awful weather all week, well, I’ve been stuck inside.  And then, while I love being on The Cape, a lot of my “indoor things”, like synthesizers, are up in New Hampshire.  I am still on a little writing break.  Oh well.

Today is supposed to be a bit less wet (tomorrow will be much better), so I need to figure out a way to get out and get the dogs out without running into a million people who have also been sequestered.  Maybe not easy, but we’ll try…

I hope you are doing well.  Is staying home 24 x 7 driving you crazy yet?  Been exercising?  Staying healthy?

I need to get moving.  It was nice seeing you, even from 6 feet away! If you have a coffee share, I’ll try to stop by for a visit.

The coffee share is hosted over on Eclectic Alli.  The link to join is here.

We are extra fortunate Trent in that those of us who play in the world of blogs are already used to maintaining relationships in a virtual mind-to-mind rather than real face-to-face manner. In this sense, nothing has changed except for what we talk about and how our physical lives have been impacted. It’s wet here today, but our church is meeting via Zoom and we’re actually having a pretty good experience with it. So far, it’s been both fun and effective if very different than what we used to.

Writing has been different, less time to focus on it and the mood I find myself in is very different than several weeks ago. Work has been very demanding, but also different – but I’m very happy to still be employed and playing a small part in helping minimize the impact this virus is having on some significant companies.

Under the topic of looking for good news where it can be found, can you tell me that the weather in New England is too cold for ticks to survive? That would be a very nice beni would it not?

Bad news – I picked up three ticks over the winter! I think the cold makes it worse, since my body temp is a greater contrast with the ambient…

Glad you are handling it well. I know a lot of churches have gone to Zoom, FaceBook, etc. The one next door to me hasn’t and the parishioners aren’t happy and have been attending church in surrounding towns. Not good.

This last week I had a hard time focusing on writing and even on music, which I have been doing more of recently – just too busy with work.

Anyway, I hope you had a good weekend and have a great week ahead!

This will be my fourth week working from home. It’s a challenge staying indoors for so long. It used to be that we would stay home only on the weekends but now it’s everyday with the exception of going for groceries one day a week. We are hoping that the April showers will come soon. Continue to stay safe and well :)

Living in a small village surrounded by hills and forests has its pluses – I can go outside and never see a soul at almost any time. I hope you have a good week and that the isolation isn’t too bad :) Also that you you and your family stay healthy :)

Having something to do is a must, anything to do. For me, living in a small town surrounded by hills and forests is a plus – I can get out and never see a soul…. I hope your isolated week goes well!

its still sun and shine this side of the hemisphere … I will have mug of dark roast thank you very much.
Havent gone crazy from the lockdown yet, but its still day 6 of 21 crazy that I never travel and mostly work from home but just because there’s a clampdown on movement I suddenly feel the urge to be at a thousand and one places…. its like the face touching thing I had realised how many times I touch my face.
Hope the weather clears up proper

The dogs actually give me an excuse to go outside, so I don’t need the dog door ;) I’m tired of rain. Yesterday was better and today better yet, but I think there is more forecast. Those had better be some great May flowers…

Is it too early for gin?
I switched to a half marathon program when the marathon got postponed to August but I’m finding it hard to stay motivated without that marathon element of fear. The weather here is the same as yours – went and windy – which is not exactly conducive to feeling positive about a 16km run.
Glad you are working, keeping well and getting a change of scenery. Hope you get some better weather soon.

It is almost 9 PM, so the perfect time for gin, at least here – may be too early there ;) I just finished some Scotch, so… Yeah, the weather doesn’t make the thought of running appealing. I did get out on Tuesday for about 8 km, and did a long walk today. Tomorrow is supposed to be really nice, so I’ll get a good run in. The next few days will be nice as well, so, at least one more before the weather goes back to “April Showers”. I hope you are doing well and find some motivation to get out. I know you need it as much as i do.

It’s just hit 11am so still a tad early. Although, let’s face it, all the normal rules no longer apply so Cheers! 😉

Before all this, I’d have gone to the gym and done it on the treadmill but it’s hard to find an alternative when it’s bucketing rain in a lockdown. I think the weather is due to improve on Thursday so I’ll get out then.

Some day I may break down and either get a really good stationary bike or treadmill… I do have an exercise room with adjustable bench and dumbbells, but nothing for the cardio side.

I deleted my old blog with the intention of never returning to blogging. Then, a few months ago, having healed via lots of therapy+, I created a new one and was so, so glad …

No issues between driving, but Massachusetts (where I am now) has a much stricter stay at home policy than New Hampshire, and both states don’t want people traveling to “vacation homes”, even if they are really second four season homes, like ours. But, as I said, I am not getting close to anyone, not going to stores, etc., so no harm… Thanks, you too – stay well :)

Staying home/working from home has been a challenge to say the least. With no school I am trying to keep the boys learning and busy, but we are all a bit stir crazy. Still exercising yes. However, the urge to bake is strong and counter acts the exercising a bit because if I’m going to bake, well, I need to eat it too. Haha.

Hope you have a nice weekend.

lol, I can understand the baking thing. My wife gets the itch to bake around the holidays and I always end up eating my weight in cookies a day… I hope you find ways to keep the boys busy and have a great weekend :)

Need to get out for the mind, during the week getting out at 6:30am means it’s very quiet, we went out this afternoon Saturday and tried to keep to lesser known paths…..still busy, some folk thank you for keeping distance others not so, and then there are the folk that just think this is a joke. Makes me so mad. Hope you find a break in the rain. Have a good week.

I was able to go out for a long walk in the woods. Yeah, more people than usual, but most were almost paranoid about keeping the distance, so no worries. I don’t understand those who treat it as a joke. Both places I live have relatively low population densities, so that makes it easier. Hope your weekend continues to go well.

Weather sure can put a crimp in things when we’re stuck at home! So much yard work to do, but it’s been cold and wet. But I really have no excuse as the last two days have been blue sky and 50s…and still I did no yard work! :) Today is grey sky again, but it isn’t supposed to rain much. You’ll have to figure out some inside stuff to leave at the Cape in case this happens to you again!

I do have a ton of yard work at both places. Perhaps later ;) I have a few inside things to do, but I do need more. Typically I would write, but.. Hope your weekend is going well.

I’m still going into work at the Vet lab, essential business. My stables is open so I can take care of my horses. My life is the same except I was my hands a lot and clean my phone often. Anyways, the weather here turned from beautiful and sunny to a storm is brewing. Rain, a lot of it forecast for the next 5 days! Keeping distances, praying for everyone and staying busy! Thank you for the coffee share today! 😀

The people I manage are considered essential, but I’m not ;) Luckily I telework full time anyway, so… Good luck with the 5 days of rain. Just in the last hour I have been seeing some sunshine, so I am hopeful. I hope your weekend is going well and that you have a great week, even with the forecasted rain :)
