Yesterday – A Spoof

mask

Yesterday
The Covid Virus seemed so far away
Now it looks as if it is here to stay
Oh, I believe in Yesterday

Suddenly
I’m locked inside instead of free
There’s a facemask hanging over me
Oh, yesterday came suddenly

Why I had to hide, locked inside, I couldn’t say
I coughed, is something wrong?!??! Now I long for yesterday!

Yesterday
Meeting friends was such an easy game to play
Now I need a place to hide away
Oh, I believe in yesterday

Why I had to hide, locked inside, I couldn’t say
I coughed, Something’s wrong!!!! Now I long for yesterday!

Yesterday
Meeting friends was such an easy game to play
Now I need a place to hide away
Oh, I believe in yesterday
MM mm mm mm mm mm

This was written for Chelsea Owen’s Terrible Poetry Contest.  I typically just post in the comments on here site, but I though some of you may want a laugh :)  If you didn’t guess, the idea was to a parody of a classic song and make it about Covid-19.  I may try to play-sing this later ;)

I hope you enjoyed!

If I do it, it will be a more full recording – I will lay down basic string and piano tracks, maybe bass, and then my singing (through the vocoder) on top. I will most likely just use a photo of me in the mask in the background and have the words in bold in the foreground. We’ll see…

I’m not so sure yesterday believes in us either – I know looking at what we did to the world yesterday, and today,.. uhm.. Yep, better shape up. Thanks. A friend made the mask. She has been making them since early March.

Thanks. yeah, I have been sing that silly parody version of “One More Day” (originally from Les Mis) over and over in my mind for days… Oh well, there are worse songs than One More Day and yesterday… ;)
