Hello and Welcome! Come in! No, on second thought, let’s go sit out back. It has been wet and cold, but today is sunny and beautiful. A little cool, but nice from what we’ve had this last week or two. And where are we ? Although it is a summer photo, some of you may recognize the photo at the top as being from my backyard on Cape Cod.
The big news is weather. It’s been awful. After a warmer and drier winter than usual, we have had a cooler and wetter spring than usual. Which is why today, a Saturday even, is so welcome. (Hint, I will spend as much of the day outside as possible).
Work week wasn’t as busy as last week, Btu part of it was me – I was just so burnt out I didn’t have the energy to do as much as I should. There are still a lot of hard deadlines, even things like the Department of Homeland Security has given us a date to make fixes or have dozens of servers shut down. But not all is bad ;)
I drove down here Thursday evening. It is still odd how empty the highway is. Also odd seeing the different traffic patterns. Slow in one area, most cars just a few miles an hour over the speed-limit, and then a few miles down the road and everyone is doing half again the speed-limit (i.e. between 90 and 100 mph, with a few cars doing much, much faster). The funny thing is that I saw more police on this journey than I have seen in total over the past five years on this drive. The police obviously just weren’t were people were traveling at speeds usually reserved for air traffic.
Besides that, it has all been pretty “normal” – walkies dogs, running, exercizing, reading, etc.
Oh, one thing, did you see my parody? Take a look:
(Click here if you don’t see the video below)
Anyway, I need to get moving. Thanks for stopping by. If you have a coffee share, I’ll try to visit. Have a great weekend!
The coffee share is hosted over on Eclectic Alli. The link to join is here.
I just realized that my comment never got added [I posted it -or thought I posted it obviously from my mobile]…. so, I loved this parody, it had a Monty Python quality [Michael Palin…], You realize of course that now you have to do “Tomorrow”, don’t you?!!!!!! 😂🤣😂🤣

I posted just the video and lyrics earlier – you comment on that post :) Yes, a little closer to Michael Palin than Paul McCartney ;) lol, maybe I will have to…

;-) :-) Well, at least I haven’t lost my memory yet, it seems though I’m losing my perception 😱… too much joy from the news of our lockdown lift [next Monday we’re free – well, sort of!] ;-)

Luckily I’ve had enough freedom to not go totally stir crazy. I hope you enjoy your freedom when it comes, even if it is limited.

Hi Trent,
I absolutely loved your parody of Yesterday and posted it on Facebook. I probably shouldn’t say this, but I can understand the speeding cars. I think people are getting cabin fever and then they’re driving like a bat out of hell. We’re only allowed to drive if we’re an essential worker, or are going out for exercise or the supermarket. Last week, I went for a walk with a friend over at Pearl Beach. The drive over there is quite fun and has quite a few bends as you weave your way down the hill to the beach. Boy that drive felt good.
With my health, which is compounded by laziness and writing addiction, going out for a walk often feels like a chore but I’m trying to mix it up a bit and go somewhere local but unfamiliar. It would be lovely to just sit on the beach for awhile but that’s not allowed.
I’m at home with the family and chatting with people via the blog and Facebook so don’t miss the social contact a lot. It’s more the restrictions on getting out of the house and I also miss being able to browse through the shops. Indeed, I have down some online shopping and browsing. Bought some new PJs thinking that’s going to be my fashion for the next few months. However, it’s taken about a month so far and they haven’t arrived. They’re blaming Australia Post, but they need to come clean. It’s them.
Take care and best wishes,
Ro
PS It was great to hear your voice.

Hi Rowena! I hope you are doing well. Thanks, re the video! Glad you liked it and thanks for sharing!
I think some of the speed is cabin fever, some because of stress (I have noticed people are more aggressive during stressful times) and some that they now often see all of that open road in front of them…
Delays in shipping can be a pain. Here we’ve become spoiled by two day delivery from Amazon, so when something takes a week, it seems so long! Funny that not long ago you could expect a week to two weeks for anything…
Things are different, but I’ve always been an extreme introvert and I have been full time telework for a while, so a lot hasn’t changed…
I hope you can get out and stretch often and that you stay well :) Have a wonderful week.

I think many bloggers are extreme introverts and it’s perhaps quite exceptional that I blog when I’m such an extrovert. However, I love the people contact through blogging and the exchange of ideas and cultural experiences. Beats small talk.
My new PJs finally arrived today. So.I’ll have to wear them for next week’s coffee share. I now have hot pink leg with white circles teamed with a black t-shirt. Surely, they must boost my creativity!! They certainly make me smile, but I have another post for our weekly smile about my travel stupidity.
Best wishes,
Ro

I’ve heard about speeders too, Trent. Seems odd to me. I hope your weather improves and you get some fresh air soon. :-)

It’s like people see the open road and can’ resist… On smaller roads, a lot of people get impatient, and I think it is thee same thing – they are getting used to doing 70 in 35 zone, so hate when someone slows them down. Plus, I have noticed that the speed and aggression which people drive is directly correlated to the amount of stress they feel.

Good point about the stress. I listen to books while driving, so it’s actually a chance to relax. :-)

Oops, clicked “Send” too soon… – Getting fresh air is always great! I was able to get out a lot over the weekend, so that was good. I hope you had a good weekend and a wonderful week ahead :)

We’re getting some rain, but spring has arrived. It’s so green around here. Now if we can just finish with the frosts… :-)

Yeah, we are still getting plenty of our April Showers… It rained half of the day yesterday and is raining now….

Love the parody! LOL I can’t wait to get outside myself.. Low 60s today and dry for the most part. Thanks for the coffee!

That photo is really green! Is it from last summer? I know you said a summer photo..a wet spring can cause a lot of greenery as well. It is green here now, and we are getting snow next week. Crazy crazy.. Thank you for the coffee!

Yes, it was last summer. It is greening up, but it won’t be super green for another week or two (or three) – the leaves on the trees are just starting to bud. Why, we had some snow last week, though nothing that stuck since last Saturday. I went for a short hike in the hills near my house in NH on Sunday, and there was still an inch on the ground in places! I hope your weekend has gone well and that you have a wonderful week ahead.

We have an enjoyable time outdoors to look forward to. I’m amazed about the new life of spring every year, that never gets old! The hike sounds wonderful. I try to go for walks in nature every day. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

I do try to get out every day, and have to a little because of the dogs. Sometimes are better than others, like the two hours on the kayak yesterday and the long walk on the low-tide sand this morning. Have a wonderful week!

The outlook from the morning coffee today is so green, I love Einstein on the mug. Here in Aussie land our highways are eerily quiet as well & police out in force. It seems to be the new norm. Have a fantastic week.

So far so good, thank you!
It’s hard to get out, though. It is uber-urban where I live, and the coughing, spitting, sharing smokes & bottles homeless abound.
Plus it’s our first sunny day in ages, and I live across the foot bridge from the beach…. so too, many people and not all social distancing.
I have creativity and music! :D

I love cities in many ways, but right now I am glad I live in a more sparsely populated area! Though yesterday I ran by the beach and it was packed. People were spread out on the sand, which was good, but the parking area was as full as high season…

Yeah, I’m avoiding the beach. I live across a footbridge from Sunnyside Beach on Lake Ontario and a few blocks from Toronto’s largest park, High Park.
There’s way too, many people. More crowded than usual, and in groups, which is forbidden right now.
I won’t go. They barricaded parking lots, but people tore them down. Now, they have put cement bullards across entrances, and people are getting fined. Try coughing or spitting on an officer, and get an assault charge.
This is not a holiday!
We are supposed to stay at home, and only go out once a week for groceries/supplies. No shopping in couples, singles only in the store.
Unless you own property, no going to cottage country. Even then, they don’t want us going there.

They have a lot of restrictions in place here, so I am surprised the beaches are open. On the other hand there is about 1/20 the number of people here now than there normally would be in July and August, so easier to keep apart most days – I went for a walk on the beach Sunday and the closest person to me was about 2 KM away, a bit farther than that 2 m recommended ;) I’m just hoping Saturday’s crowds don’t ruin it, and more importantly, I hope people don’t get sick because of it!

I am having coffee as a matter of fact. I don’t know about your weather, but we have half a dozen trees down just up front of the house and I don’t know how many outback. It must have been some howling wind last night. Well, we needed to take down some trees and now, we seem to have done that. Or nature did, anyway. One nice day, then more rain and rain tomorrow and Monday. It will end, I hope, and we’ll get a hint of spring before suddenly, it’s summer.

This is my “vacation week”, though I will work most of it and stay isolated… I guess it won’t be too hard, since Wednesday looks like the only decent day this week… Wow, sounds pretty bad. It was windy last night, but not terrible for here (Cape). I picked up a bunch of branches this afternoon, but most were from the storms of a couple of weeks ago. Today was a little bit of spring, and there will be a few more coming up, but I’m with you, I want some nice weather!

Most EXCELLENT parody!! So talented, and made me long for yesterday. Mostly because I don’t know if we will ever be like yesterday again. It will be different, not sure what the future holds but it will be a new normal!
We are getting more blood samples at work so business is picking up!! Things are looking up as I guess you can only wait so long and all the vet hospitals have made accommodations for vet visits. Thankful for essential businesses! I am hoping to share coffee this weekend on my blog, thank you for the coffee outside!! 😀🥰🤠

Thanks! Yes, I imagine that tomorrow will be very different from Yesterday! Hopefully better for the best.
It is good to be able to work through this – you have to see people, so I’m sure much more stressful for you, but I’m also sure not as stressful as not working.
I hope your weekend is going well :)

Good morning, Trent! I want yesterday back, too. I need to be sure to sit outside a while, I am feeling agoraphobic. I slept in, so I am calling this taking it easy. I have to log in to work during the week by 8 a.m. Enjoy your weekend; the back yard looks lovely!

Good morning! I am “at” work by 7. Today the dogs started bothering me at 5:30… I finally got up at 6:30 – I had wanted to sleep in too, but the dogs had a different idea… I have spent quite a bit of time outside already, including two hours on the kayak. I hope you have a great weekend!
