Wake in hope

This was written for Colleen’s Tuesday Poetry Challenge. This week the theme was “The Day After”. I chose a senryu, which is like a haiku but is a more personal poem which can be about love and often contains irony. I chose the 3/5/3 format.

Yeah, darn… But then, there was always the night before ;) Thanks, Diana. My first thought on seeing the prompt was the movie of that name, but I thought this was better way to go, though I’m sure it might feel like getting struck by a nuclear bomb.

Oh yeah. I remember that movie. It was pretty grim. I like your decision. :-)

It was pretty grim. (After writing the phrase, I had to look up and listen to The Beatles’ song The Night Before…)
