If We Were Havign Coffee on the 2nd of May, 2020

Coffee on Cape Cod

Hello and Welcome!  let’s go out back here and sit down.  It is a gorgeous day!  It is a little warmer than it has been, though not super warm (getting into the low 60s F/16 or 17 C), but the sun is out and shining!  With all of the rain lately, it is great!  Oh, were are we?  Yes, the same picture at the top as last week, so if you remember, I am on Cape Cod.

This will be very short, because of the weather – I want to be outside, not in on my computer….

I spent the week here on “The Cape”.  I worked most of the week, but took Thursday and Friday off – I always do a late April break, and this was it.  The weather wasn’t great either day, but nice enough.  I spent a lot of time outside, even if I did have to change shoes and socks several times because what I was wearing was completely soaked…

Over the week i have visited my favorite beach, Chapin Beach, a couple of times, including this morning.  I have also been on West Dennis Beach.  Don’t worry, the beaches are open, but I have been there when there were very few people around.  I’ve also run by West Dennis beach a couple of times when it looked too crowded for my taste during social distancing…  I’ve taken some walks in the woods and kayaked last Saturday, though it might be too windy today.

I’ve been writing, reading and playing with the dogs.  Tonight will also be the night to watch the last Star Wars movie, IX The Return of Skywalker – if you remember, I watched all of the movies in order starting with the prequels, I.

Anyway, there was also work and, of course, a lot of playing with the dogs.

Anyway, I have been inside far, far too long and need to go outside again. (yes, I know, we are having our virtual coffee out back, but I am up at my computer as I virtualize…)

I hope you had a good week!  If you have a coffee share i will try to stop by – no guarantees…

The coffee share is hosted over on Eclectic Alli.  The link to join is here.

It is great to be able to get out. I’m lucky and live in a rural area, so have been able to get out through out – I just avoid people, but what’s new about that? ;)

It is Autumn here so a little chilly, Your weather warms my bones as I read & have a coffee with you. Its great that you can get to the beach, our beaches are huge here so the odds of crowding are pretty slim, it helps that we are not hugely populated area. I cannot even imagine being locked in for this long in an apartment, even in mental health facilities they have gardens to wander in. Have a fantastic week.

As our summer approaches I just have to wonder if the beaches will become crowded… This area has a huge seasonal variation in population. I could not live in a city through this – I have to be out and about and not being about to get my walk in every day would be super difficult. I hope you have a wonderful week :)

This sounds like a fabulous week! The weather sounds perfect as well. The sun is shining here this morning, and it is around 50 here, rising to 60 later today, hopefully. Thank you for the coffee and enjoy the rest of your weekend!

It was a great week. The temps were in the 40s and low 50s most of the week, but Saturday was 65 and today, in New Hampshire, was 75! Warm and cold, sunny and raining, it was still great getting out and about!
I hope your weekend went well and that you have a wonderful week ahead :)

I feel so lucky to live in places where I can get out! I am the type that would go stir crazy without my walks – I walk even when it is pouring rain or there is a blizzard! Also, my blood pressure starts to climb when I don’t run :( If I run three times a week, it is about 115 over 75. If I can’t run for two months it is about 150 over 95. Food and medicine does not touch it. I would literally die of a heart attack or stroke if I stopped running…

Anyway, on a more cheerful note… (Actually I LOVE to run, so that is great!) I hope your weekend is going well. I hope you aren’t too stir crazy being stuck with little more than a back yard. Have a good week ahead :)

Hi… we can’t meet our friends for coffee in Portugal we have been in lockdown since the 13th March. No visitors, no going out unless absolutely essential. Even our local beaches are sealed off along with clifftop parking. Next week some restrictions will be lifted but even so I will still wear a protective mask and glasses when popping into shops etc. We will be able to see friends but even then they recommend we still observe the social distancing rules of two meters (75 inches) and no physical contact. I think meals out and socializing will be a thing of the past for a VERY long time to come … at least until they have found a vaccine for the Corona virus.

So yes, i will have a coffee with you if you wear a mask or at least a visor and we sit two meters apart. :) This is the new normal for us. Our Government in Portugal took extremely tough measures to protect us

I have seen some friends outside, but nobody over, nobody in the house, etc. Our lock down is obviously not as tough, at least here in the middle of nowhere it isn’t. I’m surprised our beaches were open, but not surprised that people were spread pretty far apart! When I walked on the beach, the closest people to me were 2 km away, not 2 m ;) Well, some of the time at least… Thanks for joining me for this virtual coffee – yes, we stayed 6 feet/2m apart and wore masks, though it made drinking coffee difficult ;)

For some reason your comment ended up in spam. I hope you are doing well despite the strict lock down. Hope you’ve been able to at least be outside.

Wonderful that you get to the beach! There’s been some squabbles here with southern California beaches, some not being open after last weekend. I’m sure you heard in the news, here people are starting to get frustrated. The weather is just gorgeous, I can’t blame them. Hopefully, we can all figure things out together and safely! I won’t go on with this just wonderful you get outdoors, my favorite too!! And YES! Star Wars ❤️ So FUN! Enjoy your weekend! 😍😁

I do feel so lucky to be able to get out :) The beaches are not crowded at all, so safe, but I bet if there are still virus issues in June, they may have to limit the number of people allowed on at any given time. We don’t have the crowds some places have, but still ,need to be careful. Yes, I love living where I can be outside :) I hope you are having a great weekend!

Wow. I can’t imagine being able to walk on the beach. How wonderful. I have enjoyed those Star Wars movies, too. We saw the last episode when it came out in December. It was kind of long but still very engaging. I’d love to play with your dogs….

Walking on the beach was great! The other day I think I stayed 1000 times farther away from people than the recommended 2 meters ;) Large expanses of sand with nobody around except the birds – fantastic :) I did not watch the Rise of Skywalker tonight – I’ll see it tomorrow or Monday. I saw the original series and the prequels in the theater withing a week of being released (at least the prequels that early), but for some reason have waited for the sequel to come out on BluRay. The dogs are great fun, full of energy :)

Thanks! It is great, with my nearest backdoor neighbor a marina a half of a mile over bay/saltwater marsh! And the dogs love it playing there, so all is well :)

Trent if it was not for our yard and being outside I would not have made it the last 52 days. In all that time I have only been in public 3 times and one time was outside at a nursery. I need sunshine and fresh air lol.

I have been inside in public about once a week, though two time two weeks, split between grocery store and post office. As to outside, I have no idea how I would survive living in NYC. Wow, I’d go crazy, my blood pressure would go through the roof if I couldn’t run, etc.

I think there are people that can live in that environment and those of us who could not. I need fresh air, blue skies, trees, flowers, wide open spaces, nature and wildlife. Today we have to do errands and I am not looking forward to doing this but its stuff we have to do.

I could easily live in a city during normal times, but I have to walk, and running is real necessity – my blood pressure skyrockets when I don’t run. There is no way I’d survive being shut up inside all day every day for weeks on end…
