First experience backpacking, I take it….
How did you know?
Lucky guess… What’d you think of the trail?
It was a bear! Harder than expected.
I’m sure it was. You know it gets harder as we climb higher into the mountains, don’t you?
Harder?! Wow, it was tough enough already.
I’m sure it was. Uhm, how did you even carry that thing, let alone lug it all this way?
As I said, it wasn’t easy, but I can’t imagine being without it.
Yeah…
I mean, a man has to eat, right?
Uhm…
So, where do I plug in the fridge?

I think he earned his meal and worked off whatever calories he’s planning on intaking. Now, where’s the microwave?

He’s still poking around trying to find a place to plug in the microwave…

Bahaha good one, Trent. I understand the urge tho, I’m not a camper, I prefer my creature comforts

Thanks. yeah, not everyone is made for camping, but at least most have a little idea of what “roughing it” really means ;)

I’m still laughing at this! You are hilarious! Very enjoyable read! THANKS!

Haha! Definitely his first hike.

Yep, and with that experience, most likely his last ;)

I can’t believe he left the portable generator behind. It was only an extra 300kg! He’ll have to go back for it…

I don’t know what he was thinking. Of course there is also all of that fuel he would need to carry up to run the generator, so he may need to make two extra trips…

lol, I guess determination is a positive way of looking at it ;) Thanks!

I like the humour, and you make a great point about people being dependent on technology.

Thanks. Some people are tied pretty tightly to their technology. I try to spend as much time outside without my cell phone as possible, though I would carry it backpacking…

He’s going to need a very long cable…

I think the spool of cable would weigh far more than the refrigerator…

Silly chap, he should have taken a solar panel too!
Here’s mine!
LikeLiked by 1 person
Yes, he should have. Well, and a large battery which can charge while walking, since the solar panel might not help much once camp is set up at dusk ;)

Yeah, certainly hasn’t got the hang of things. It sounds like it’s going to get a whole lot tougher for him
LikeLiked by 1 person
It will get a lot tougher. He doesn’t get the concept of “roughing it”, thinking it has to do with how much work it takes to bring the conveniences and luxuries with him instead of doing without said conveniences and luxuries…

Haha! Crazy dude! 😉

Yep, crazy and clueless ;) However,if he carried that thing all of the way, I won’t tell him…

It may take this guy a while to figure it all out~

From Rochelle’s photo, I think he at least figured out that he wasn’t going to carry the fridge any farther. If he ever figures out backpacking, well, I doubt it ;)

Hilarious, great story. I actually know people like that too funny, maybe glamping would be a better intro for camping with a character like that. lol
LikeLiked by 1 person
Thanks. I do know a few that are very into glamping. This guy should have hooked up with them ;)

I surely wasn’t expecting that ending. Cmon now there is a difference between rookie and moron. Isn’t there? What an amusing story, Trent.

lol, yes, a “rookie mistake” is something anybody can make when they are new to it, but this…? I’ll admit I stole it from Calvin and Hobbes, but Calvin carried a microwave out on his camping excursion…

LOL Sounds like something Calvin would do.

I met people on the trail in Nepal like that, not quite bringing up a fridge, but lots of unnecessaries , make it easy, enjoy the ride!

I once saw some people hiking or backpacking on a trail in the mountains here (new Hampshire) that had huge wooden boxes instead of backpacks. I have no idea what they were about, but it looked very uncomfortable to me! And out mountains are anthills compared to Nepal. Need to go light…

Too right, the Sherpas were carrying up 5 or 6 crates of beer at a time up the mountain in flip flops, tougher than anyone I’ve ever seen
LikeLiked by 1 person
Didn’t have to be a whole fridge – probably all he needed was a beer/wine cooler.
LikeLiked by 1 person
All I can say is that he wasn’t the brightest bulb in the universe ;) We always carried freeze-dried food when backpacking, so even a cooler might be a pain.

Haha! Dumbass… Fun stuff!
LikeLiked by 1 person
Dumbass, but strong as an ox to carry that thing that far… One reason the other guy is being very, very careful with his language ;) Thanks!

No kidding. Indeed. He must… Though strong doesn’t mean he can fight ;-)
I can’t help seeing Robert DeNiro in “The Mission” lugging his huge pack up a mountain…

I can most likely out run him, but…
I missed the movie, but looked it up. His huge pack was full of armor, so I assume as heavy as that fridge!

You hope…. Best not take any chances.
It was! Penance for his sins… such a good movie, if you have a chance.

Not taking any chances, that’s why there is the careful language.

Dear Trent,
Someone should tell this clown about refrigerated bags. Much easier to schlepp along the trail. Made me laugh out loud. Good one!
Shalom,
Rochelle

For long backpacking trips we used freeze-dried food – food in refrigerated bags sounds much more appetizing ;) Thanks, glad you got a chuckle from this.
