Hello and Welcome! Sit down over here and look up into the woods. Isn’t it pretty? It is cloudy, but warm. The week started far below average temps, even snow in places last weekend! But it warmed up and we are back to normal. We even hit 80 (27 C) the other day – it was super humid, so it felt like summer. Oh, were are we? Some of you may recognize the photo at the top as begin from New Hampshire, though it is now green!
Yeah, it is great that the weather is so much nicer. We had nasty storms come through Friday – there was even a tornado watch! But now it is just mid-to-late-May. Nice, comfortable.
No matter what people say, spring is always late here, late and short. Yes, we had a colder and wetter than usual spring so far, but it just feels as bad as it does because of the warmer and drier than usual winter. Oh well, glad we are closer to normal and warm!
This was an odd week. Work was busy, but what is new? I spent a lot of time outsides, but what is new? I played with pups on the wooded hill that you can see in the photo at the top, I walked them, I took walks on my own, I ran (more about this later), I exercised, I wrote, I read and and played music. In fact, I am starting to practice a little more, that is, do scales and things instead of just play. I had to pick up cat food and, on the same trip, swung by a friends house to pick up a new mask – photos later ;)
Since I have been running more consistent lately, I have started to stretch my runs. Yesterday I did a new run. Actually, one I used to do many years ago. It isn’t much longer than what I did the two runs before (about 5.2 miles/8.4 km), but it starts with a 2 mile/3 km uphill that peaks out at over 900 feet (275 m) – a 525 foot (160 m) climb. It might not seem much, but, yeah, that is quite the climb. Also, it took my to a local high point. There was a great view of Temple, Pack Monadnock and North Pack Mountains. In fact, I think this is the highest point east of those mountains, so the view was fantastic. Anyway, I will be getting that view a couple of times a week when I am in NH, until I decided to stretch the run again….
OK, so I am posting this on Sunday… I just did not feel like being on line yesterday. I don’t today either. I want to go to an Internet-less world for a few weeks, but I know that won’t happen… So, yeah, I’ll be around on and off today.
And speaking of that, it is time for me to check off and take the dogs for a walk. Thanks for stopping by! If you have a coffee share I will try to stop by. Hope you have a great weekend :)
The coffee share is hosted over on Eclectic Alli. The link to join is here.
your runs and pup time always sounds so refreshing

It is – I have to run, and doing it in beautiful places is great :) Playing with the pups helps keep me young…

That sounds really wonderful being on a high point like that! I bet the scenery is so beautiful. The town I live in is small but there aren’t many nature trails or scenic areas to go walking/jogging at. Or, if there is I don’t know about them. Maybe I’ll see what I can find out. A jog in nature does sound wonderful. :) I hope you have a wonderful week!

New Hampshire is very pretty this time of year (of course fall is best!), so just being out is great. We do have some public natural areas and during the semi-lock down my town has put up more signs so people can find them easier. Most of my walks, though, are on the roads through the village and my runs are on the roads as well, though I have to be very careful up in the hills…

I’m glad your weather has been nice or nicer! Except for the storm or tornado watch… Scary! I feel you with the wanting to limit computer time or social stuff online. I think sometimes we all just need a break from time to time! Enjoyed having coffee with you, and hope you have a good week! 😀

It is nice to not have to worry about a jacket when I go out… The Internet, and social media, eat up so much time and energy. I do need to say “No” more often and take more and longer breaks. It is one of those weird modern life things. I spend a lot of time away from my phone. Hope your week goes well :)

Getting off the internet for a while sounds like a good idea. Good on you for doing the runs, we live on acreage that is hilly I have plans to make a exercise run around the perimeter for the horses & I. I hope you have a mind, body & soul replenishing week.

The Internet, and social media in particular, eats up a huge amount of time and energy – it is good to get away on occasion. I do enjoy my runs and really like this new loop with its fantastic views. Sounds like you have quite a spread, but if you have horses, I’m sure you need it. Have a great week :)

The woods and hill behind my house are perfect for the dogs to run and play, but they aren’t really very big – just a row behind the houses up the hill to the houses above us – I’m in the middle of a village! Have a great week.

Spring here has been colder than usual and the trees seem to be taking a longer time to bud. Hopefully it will warm up soon but by the time that happens, it may be summer. Anyway, it’s good that you’re keeping busy and enjoying the weather which has finally warmed up in your neck of the woods. Enjoy the rest of the weekend and have a good week :)

It has been an odd year, and seeing parts of the country getting record highs is just odd, though it is all due to the way the Jet Stream is configured (or was through most of spring). I hope you get some warm weather and have a great week ahead :)

You’re right. It has been an odd year, weather-wise. I’m hoping that we will be getting some warm weather soon. Thanks, Trent :) It’s going to be a four day week as today’s Victoria Day here in Canada.

We have next Monday off down here, so next week is our 4-day week. I hope you get your warm weather soon.

It reLly sounds like you are getting yourself really fit, good healthy run.
I hear a number of people feeling a distancing from Internet. Could be we have
to much on our mind. Follow your inner voice. See you.

I do try to stay fit, though running is my sport – I will never be the bulky muscle guy… I think with so many people spending so much time on line and having spent so much time on line for the last couple of months, we all need a break and need to be out in the “real world”. It is more social media that is getting me down, and not wanting to feel I “have” to do something. So taking a break for most of this weekend was good :) I am still really far behind, but it is fine. Hope you have a good week.

It’s great that you are keeping so busy, Trent. I can’t believe how cold it is where you live. Still cold in May. We are still hot in May and our winter is coming [I think – smile]. Okay, it gets cold at night but seeing as I am not going out, I haven’t really noticed much.

That is one thing about New Hampshire, it is cold… We sometimes have weeks were the temperature never gets above freezing. I don’t think we had any cold snaps like that this year, but it happens. But then I can easily cope with the cold, love cool and merely warm but HATE the heat. Our nights typically stay pretty cool during the summer here in NH, so I really dislike those few weeks with warm nights. Yuck.
I do have to stay busy, keep moving :)
I hope you have a great week :)

I guess it all boils down to what you are used to. It gets might hot here, Trent.

I’m sure it does get hot there… I did liver in other parts of the US where it gets a lot hotter than here (South Carolina and Texas). Nope. I like it here, thank you ;)

It was 16 degrees Celsius in our lounge this morning and we have a fire going. I am wearing a vest and a jersey. It is like the North Pole for us.

lol, I’m sure it is. I like for it to get down to that outside at night, even inside while sleeping, but even for me that is a little chilly to just be hanging around inside reading or whatever. 20 is fine.

I think we all have days that we really do not want to be on the internet. At least until we have that moment we need to look something up lol. Our weather has been good we did get a few inches or rain day before yesterday which should make the garden grow like crazy. Enjoy your day and your walk with the dogs.

I might start doing Internet-less weekends, or at least social media-less weekends. It is nice to get away from it and feel that I HAVE to be connected… Hope you had a good weekend and have a wonderful week ahead :)

Last week was in the 40s and 50s, so the 70s felt almost hot! and that 80 day was hot… Glad you’ve been enjoying outside time as well, though I hope it gets a little warmer there. Have a wonderful week!

The weather warmed up her Friday too- what a pleasure! 5 miles is loooooong. I can barely make it three. I did 4 running and walking on Friday which was good. Lots of nature along the way. LOVE your mug! Van Gogh?

I’ve been at about 4 miles for a few years, so i decided to try to push it a little this year. i was surprised at how easy it was to stretch it out -I was getting back from 4 1/2 mile runs ready to go for another run. Yes, the mug is Van Gogh. A few years ago I picked this one and a Monet up at the National Gallery of Art in DC. I sometimes use the Monet one on the Cape.
Hope you had a good weekend and have a wonderful week :)

Staying off the Internet is a nice break. I’m trying to move around, more. Mostly by taking pictures of water drops and flowers. The running sounds marvelous. I should turn off the computer, now, and take the Scampers out for another walk. :D

Trent, your voice sounds a bit weary this week. I am sure the run helped. The only incline I have ever run has been on a treadmill, so pretty or not, I’d have to pass. Thanks for the chat and enjoy your Spring weather!

One thing about living in New Hampshire is that it is hilly, so if you run or cycle or anything, well, you have to deal with hills… And if you live in a valley, most runs or rides begin with an uphill ;) I am a little burned out. i have been, uhm “picturing retirement” quite a bit this week… I don’t always feel that way, and hopefully there will be a few changes coming up.
Have a great week!
