Hi! Today is Memorial Day here in the US. This is a day for honoring and mourning the military personnel who have died while serving in the armed forces, though typically we think of “the war dead”. The roots go back to the US Civil War in the 1860s.
OK, that has little to do with my smile, except that I do honor those who sacrificed so much. I think of those WW II soldiers who didn’t come back.
My smile is really about nothing. Really :) OK, it is about relaxing. I have spent a lot of time away from the computer just doing things. I have kayaked twice in the last week. We had an outdoor fire in the fire pit on Friday, the first one in almost two years. There have been walks and runs. But there has also been relaxing, including today.
I am on Cape Cod. Although I run by the beach, I am not spending any time there. Uhm, I am actively avoiding it!
But it is very pretty. Look at these flowers, which are all over around my house. They are Poets Narsisus aka Poets Daffodils, thought to be the original Narcissus, with big parts in a few myths.
So it has been nice.
That is my smile for this week, a bit of nothing, and loving it ;)
What made you smile?
Come on, I’m sure you smiled at least once last week. Why don’t you share it? I hope you can join in!
Here is list of “rules” and guiding ideas. If you don’t have time to read it right now, just remember that this is an exercise to spread positivity. Don’t smile about the misfortune of others. Don’t smile in a way to excludes others. Make sure a 12 year old can read it.
To join in, write a post to share your smile and then leave a comment on this post with a link to your smile. Or, if you prefer, do a pingback to this post (pingback = have a link from your post to this one) (Note – pingbacks have been very inconsistent – please leave a comment :) ). You can post any time until next Sunday evening (to be simple, I will say midnight GMT, which is 7 PM Sunday for me). Next week I will compile all of the Smiles and do a separate post of them on Monday morning just before the smile. (I will shoot for around 7 AM EST).
