Hello and Welcome! Let’s go over here and sit down outside. It is a gorgeous morning. It is still in the low 70s (about 21 C) and the humidity is beginning to break, so it is comfortable. More than comfortable, it is perfect! We have had hot and humid all week. Wednesday was well over 90 (around 33 C). Remember, we had snow two weeks ago… I am glad it is cooling down and the humidity is breaking – I guess my roots are from places like the Isle of Skye, not Cairo ;) Were are we that is warmer than northern Scotland, more humid than Egypt, though, luckily, cooler than Yemen? Some may recognize that photo at the top as being from New Hampshire.
As I said, it went from a cold, wet spring, still more like early April than mid May to July-like weather overnight. It is summer out. This week will be cool, but it is still early summer New England weather. Warm, but with cool nights (I could stand 90 F/30 C weather if it was down to 55F/13C at night so I could sleep! Anyway, with early summer, so comes some of the summer beauty of NH. I talk about running with dogs on the wood hillside in my backyard. I’ve posted quite a few photos of that hill over the years, but here is one from Wednesday morning.
I came back from Cape Cod on Tuesday after work (no work on Monday). Work was busy this week, but not awful. “Not awful” is a code word for I am falling behind again ;)
Despite the heat, I’ve been staying up with my mercerize and running routine.
The dogs like the heat less than I do. The don’t play as much and are content with very short walks. Fiyero spent half of Wednesday night rapidly panting. I finally got him calmed down and sleeping, but it took 3 hours out of the middle of my own sleep. Tonight will be nice!
The week is mostly a humid haze and I really don’t remember all that I did. of course it was short – I am typically back from Cape Cod Sunday morning, so Tuesday night is odd.
Anyway, I have to mow before the neighbors come by with torches and pitch forks. yeah, it’s that bad. Of course, it is also very pretty because my front yard is covered in knee high wildflowers. I will also spend as much time as possible outside now that it is comfortable.

Lucky you for being in a much comfortable weather. Where I come from, it’s humid throughout the year. Rainy weather,
occasionally, makes the climate bearable sometimes though. In short, I envy you 😋

I do like the general climate in this part of the world, but will you envy me in February when we have been below freezing for weeks and we get snow storms that dump a meter of fresh white stuff on us? ;) lol, we have had some “perfect” weather, but after the heat of last week, it has been almost cold this week!

The wooded hillside looks so inviting. It is tricky keeping the pets cool, I use an ice brick (bottle filled with water & frozen) wrapped in an old tea towel to help keep our dogs cool. Have a splendidly awesome week.

It is a very nice area and cool woods on a hot day is inviting. Our boxer is the one that has the hardest time with the heat, but luckily he is the one who loves playing in the hose. I have tried to use ice-packs in the past with different amounts of success. A cool bath before bedtime also helps, which we did Friday night.

Spastic weather you’re having. We had a near miss on moving there a couple of decades ago. A promised job outside of Boston proved to not be as described and I waved off. I go back and forth on whether I should have take it anyway just to get a good dose of New England, maybe pick up a regional dialect of English and learn how to breath that kind of humidity.

The weather is odd, but traditionally Memorial Day weekend is when it seems to turn the corner every year. We still have cool Junes, but there is always a hot spell around this time.
It is interesting to think what might have been. I missed a few early “opportunities” that would have sent my life on a very different trajectory.

YOur wood is so green, Trent. Ours never look like that, our foliage is a much darker green. Good luck with the mowing.

It is very green here, and very pretty. As the summer goes on, the leaves will darken, getting to their darkest just before the colors begin to turn for the fall, but there is often a very rich variety of color. The hardest part of the mowing is done, but still more to do later :) Hope your weekend is going well.

I have been editing, editing and more editing, Trent. I have tried to include all the generous advice I received with regards to Through the Nethergate in my new novel and this I am improving. You will appreciate that I deleted a few Robbie opinions [smile!]

Great that you have been able to be so productive! To me editing is the hardest part. And, yeah, we want to leave our little editorials in ;) It is still possible, as long as it doesn’t sound like Trent or Robbie stepping in and putting in that editorial ;)
I just sent my WIP to a few beta readers. I’ve had feedback from one so far and have made a few small changes. I’m hoping to be in that deep editing mode by the end of the month.

New Hampshire is a gorgeous state, and pretty much the entire eastern half of the US is very green compared to the west. Yeah, a quick bit inside, but I need to head back out again soon :) Have a great weekend!

I find that my boxer loves the sun but not the hot hot air. It is their short litter snouts I believe.

I do think it has something to do with the boxers’ snouts. As for the sun, it is funny, I will take them out and Fiyero will drop into the sun immediately and just lay there, but he is smart and will move to the shade when he is too hot.
The worst of the mowing is done. A bit more to do, but I’ll most likely wait until tomorrow. I hope your weekend is going well :)
