Hi all. I’m a little late posting this because I just got back from a very long walk on the beach. I waded in the water a bit, watched crabs and other aquatic life. Ah, summer.
Saturday was the first day of summer. I walked on the beach Saturday, went running along a different beach, kayaked, had a fire in the fire pit in the evening and other summery things. It was a hot day, but nice.
The weather is nice. It is warm on Cape Cod and positively hot in New Hampshire.
Yes, after the cool beginning to spring, and the long stretches of cold and rain, summer has arrived!
That is my smile for this week, the arrival of summer.
What made you smile?
****
Come on, I’m sure you smiled at least once last week. Why don’t you share it? I hope you can join in!
Here is list of “rules” and guiding ideas. If you don’t have time to read it right now, just remember that this is an exercise to spread positivity. Don’t smile about the misfortune of others. Don’t smile in a way to excludes others. Make sure a 12 year old can read it.
To join in, write a post to share your smile and then leave a comment on this post with a link to your smile. Or, if you prefer, do a pingback to this post (pingback = have a link from your post to this one) (Note – pingbacks have been very inconsistent – please leave a comment :) ). You can post any time until next Sunday evening (to be simple, I will say midnight GMT, which is 7 PM Sunday for me). Next week I will compile all of the Smiles and do a separate post of them on Monday morning just before the smile. (I will shoot for around 7 AM EST).
Great photo.

my daughter went swimming at World’s End in Hingham this weekend. but then had to go back to a forth-floor walkup in Allsston with its ac unit not working, unfortunately. cheers.

So she isn’t too far from where I am. I’m sure World’s End would have been great this weekend! Never been there, but the pictures look nice. No AC when it is needed… I don’t have AC, but it is easy to open all of the windows and turn fans on.

It’s still Monday, so you’re not late at all! We saw soooo many of those flowers exactly a year ago in Norway. I bet Cap Cod and Norway have similar climates. I can never remember the name of the flower until after I need it…hmmmmmm….I know it blooms every 2 years….going to have to go look it up…one moment please….maybe foxglove??

I’m about 98% they are foxglove. They are pretty. If they bloom every other year, that may be why I don’t remember them last year when we moved in… Thanks. Hope you are having a good week.

I’m sure it’s foxglove. Each plant only blooms every other year, but you may see some of them in bloom each year. Depending, I guess on whether they feel like blooming or not.

The flower is beautiful, Trent. I saw it on Instagram. I am glad you finally have some good weather. Our temperatures are back up to about 18 degrees Celsius during the day and I am sitting in front of a lovely toasty fire right now.

Thanks, Robbie. 18 C is a little on the cool side, though comfortable if sunny. It has been in the 30s at my NH house, but I’ve been on Cape Cod where it has been peaking out just above 25, but very humid. Still nice, and I won’t complain at all!

I am still smiling after my visit to a greenhouse and seeing all the lovely flowers and other plants. My room looks like a flower garden.

It sounds nice. I have a “brown thumb”, so all my flowers are outside.

Reading this post made me smile :) We’re having a hot summer here too. Very humid but I’d take hot over cold any day.

I think I handle the cold better than the heat – I like turtlenecks and wool sweaters ;) But I do like summer, and there is nothing worse than a cold summer, so I’ll live with the hot, humid weather :)

I know what you mean. When it’s too hot and humid, it saps up your energy whereas in the fall and winter, the weather is crisp and you can breathe better. There are pros and cons, I guess for both but I’m thankful for the different seasons. Each are beautiful in its own way. I like Spring the best but it’s doesn’t seem to last very long.

I do enjoy all of the seasons. Spring around here is usually wet and cool, so not my favorite, though before the current heat, this late spring was perfect. Fall is my favorite.

Looking at the forecast, it doesn’t look like the heat will break any time soon around here. I’ll be by to see your smile in a few minutes.

I am not a layout on the beach type person, but love the long walks. A great way to spend a summer morning (Well, I take long walks on the beach even when it is below freezing, but…)

They are! I did make it back to another beach for a quick swim – I’m weird and actually like the feel of salt water. And stretching out when I swim – uses different muscles than running or kayaking, so feels great. Anyway, I hope you are havign a great week :)
