Gramp nodded at the assorted tools and materials.
“Looks good, Timmy, but go over the list and directions one more time, just to be sure.”
“But Grandpa, I’ve done it a million times.”
Grandpa smiled. Nothing is as impatient as a 10-year-old boy.
“I know, but remember, measure twice, cut once – we need to be sure you have all your eggs in a row.”
“Don’t you mean ducks?”
Grandpa frowned.
“Nope, eggs. The project is in the embryo stage.”
Timmy just stared.
Grandpa laughed.
“In other words, don’t go counting your ducks before they hatch.” Grandpa winked. “Let’s get started.”

lol, I had never heard of a malaphore, but, yes, Grampa is king of malaphores (though they all make a twisted sense).

Ya hadn’t? Woot! But yeah, his do work!

They do work. Funny, I have heard “eggs in a row” many times, and assumed it was a real saying, though I never used it. I looked, and, yeah, it was a malaphore (though they used different words), mixing the ducks in a row and don’t count your eggs, so, combining it all up – yes it makes perfect sense ;)

I love the way you brought back memories of my grandfather, and the way he twists the sayings.

Dear Trent,
Love it! Nice that Grandpa’s patient and willing to instruct.
Shalom,
Rochelle
PS Looks like “grandpa” got cut off the first sentence leaving only “a”

I went back and noticed that I somehow put the photo in the wrong place and cut poor grandpa in half… Fixed it now. Thanks, he is good grandpa, even if he likes to mix metaphors…

It happens. I ALWAYS want to know if I’ve typo’d. The beauty of the blog is that it’s simple to fix things. :D

It’s what I get for being in a hurry today ;) I d like how easy things are to fix – I find too many typos, but I think this one was a first for me,

Grandpa loves confusing a saying! :-)

Yes he does, but with logic behind it ;) I have heard people use “all your eggs in a row” before, but I think people were mixing up the two sayings (eggs in one basket).
